Well not quite... but I can see a lot of confused parents picking this up instead of Nintendogs.

O~3 Entertainment, an interactive entertainment publishing and distribution company, today announced that they will publish Pocket Dogs for the Game Boy Advance handheld video game system in North America. Pocket Dogs was developed in conjunction with Hana Deka Club, the phenomenally popular brand of toys and gifts featuring the signature cute dogs photographed with fisheye lenses. The game is expected to be available at retail for Holiday 2005.

"I defy anyone to play with these dogs for one minute and not be totally charmed. They're just too darn cute," said Chris Jelinek, president of O~3 Entertainment. "Furthermore, the Game Boy Advance is the bestselling handheld system by far, with 29 million players of all ages, and Pocket Dogs is the only virtual pet product on this system."

Featuring actual photos of playful dogs, Pocket Dogs lets players interact with one of eight lovable pets on their Game Boy Advance. Conversations and interactions vary depending upon the pet selected and player input, so interaction in truly individualized.

Available breeds include Pug, Chihuahua, and Shih Tzu, and by playing mini games players can win jewels which may be used to purchase items for their canine companion and decorate its living space.

yeah, it could pose a problem if a parent knows their kids 'want that dog game for nintendo'...

[on a side note, hideki konno said nintendogs began on gamecube]

I'm a little uncomfortable at the behavior this game seems to be encouraging.

"I defy anyone to play with these dogs for one minute and not be totally convinced that we ripped this off Nintendo, and are trying to cash in on the craze" said Chris Jelinek, president of O~3 Entertainment. "Furthermore, we hope many consumers actually fall for our ruse, and pocket money that would've gone to Nintendo. Suckers."

You, know it's not that Nintendo came up with the concept of virtual pets or anything, but it was something they took and developed when no one was looking. But this GBA game smacks of cashing in - but not in a good "let's try to release a better product, and create healthy competition" way, but more like a "we hope enough people make the mistake of purchasing our copy instead" way. They may as well title it "Nintondogs".

one thing Nintendo got fucking right with Nintendogs was cuteness you only have to look at the cover and the whole presentation of Nintendogs it just sells itself, but this...

that shit is just horrible in a scary and bad way.

This reminds me of those generic cartoons with the same name that come out around the same time as Disney releases them with the attempt to cash in on a hot character/story.

Tho...some would say Disney's efforts are generic as well.

I knew the real Aladdin didn't have a tentacle rape scene in it!

This is disgusting in every sense of the word!

Horrid art, bnging non-games to the GBA and the PR statements..ugh!

I remember that movie. :lol
My late father bought it for us kids around 93-94 when Disney's Aladdin was supposed to be coming out on video. At least it was so bad and cheesy that I had a good laugh watching it.

Pocket Dogs vs Dogz... FIGHT!

Today Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announced that it has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with MTO Co., Ltd. to distribute Dogz(R), the first puppy simulation game to be available exclusively for Nintendo's Game Boy(R) Advance. Ubisoft will distribute Dogz worldwide, with the exception of Japan, in November of this year.

Dogz is a pet simulation game that lets owners name, train and play with a realistic puppy. Players create and control a main character and choose one of 49 different dogs from 18 different breeds. As characters in the game, owners can take their puppies everywhere within the virtual environment, from through the house to around the neighborhood to visit friends.

Gamers will earn their puppy's love and loyalty by remembering to feed and groom it and reward it when it does things correctly. Owners can train the puppy to lie down, shake, fetch and perform many other tricks.

"Ubisoft is pleased to bring such a unique puppy simulation game to the millions of Game Boy Advance owners around the world," said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft. "We are confident that players will enjoy caring for and watching their puppies grow, and we have a significant television campaign in place to get the word out about this extremely fun and rewarding game."

Key Features:

-- Three Mini-games Available: Run Puppy Run!, Puppy Reversi and Puppy Quiz with a cuddly new companion.

-- Visiting Mode: By linking two Game Boy Advance systems, players can send their puppy off to a friend's house.

-- Always Together Mode: After players complete the game, up to three puppies' data are saved through an included backup feature. When players go to Always Together Mode, they will be able to load one of their previous puppies' data and play with it anytime.

Dogz > Pocket Dogs. If I were to get a GBA dog simulation game, it would have to be Dogz. Because to be honest, Pocket Dogs looks hideous to me. The puppies scare me. So I think Dogz would be a better choice for people that have GBA's and don't have a Nintendo DS. Though Dogz looks like it'll be a bit different from nintendogs anyways. I kinda like the cute cartoony look. :lol Might be nice for something different but kinda like Nintendogs to play.
