nintendogs hits 8 at 1up.com

the choices are so obvious.. only suikoden is really an unexpected one. and dr. mario is trash.

suikoden is a really good choice -- experience proves that girls like RPGs. but suikoden II is vastly better and has more bishies. =P

suikoden is like the only interesting pick. the rest are mostly too obvious.

it's a good pick because it has an involved story with good emotional content, cool character designs, and it's not too hardcore gameplay wise (not saying girls can't be hardcore -- just saying that any gaming novice probably don't want to start with vagrant story, or whatever.)

FF is very popular with the ladies. why the hell do you think the lead characters are so damn fey?

My girlfriend was addicted to Donkey Konga for a while...And the original Wario Ware for the GBA. As well as Mario Kart: Double Dash. I gotta get her to play more games...Oddly enough, she tried Electroplankton the other day...Actually got a "cool" out of her.

Mario Kart: Double Dash should be on the list. I drive while my fiancee handles the blue sparks and the weapons. It's a wonderful setup.

The only games my mum will play on my consoles are puzzle games or Suikoden or Legend of Legaia 1/2

How she had the patience to sit through Legaia 2 is beyond me....

Two of my ex-girlfriends really enjoyed FFVII actually. I would have probably put that on there rather than Suikoden. Nintendogs shouldn't be on there before people have a chance to try it out, because it'll be top 3 material for sure.

I've gotten my girlfriend into RPGs.

It's either puzzle games, nintendo games (especially the mario stuff) or RPGs for girls it seems.

My best friend is into nintendo games and my last 2 girlfriends were into puzzle games.

Based on anecdotal evidence, I would put Silent Hill 2 on that list. For some reason, I've run into several girls talking about how much they like Silent Hill 2.

Oh, and speaking of puzzle games...they should cram Snake into that list...and Tetris Attack rather than Dr. Mario. Or Bust-a-Move/Puzzle Bobble.

Yeah I would have put Suikoden II on there instead of Suikoden 1.
In my experience, Suikoden II is amazingly popular among girls. Sure guys dig it, but the fact is that girl gamers everywhere adore Suikoden II.

Yeah, I remember reading an article where the game devs said the series is really popular among girls in Japan (a big contributor to this was the character designs).

centipede is kinda iffy.

Centipede was codeveloped by Donna Bailey, who at the time was the only female programmer of coin-op games.

According to The Ultimate History of Video Games, "nobody know precisely why Centipede appealed to women, but several people believe that Bailey's pastel colors were par tof the attraction"

I only know this because I'm wired off Aderall so I can write a term paper, and just read all 600 pages of that book today.
