I've been on the hype train since playing the Alpha and all signs point to me riding this train to the Day 1 station. Just a little bit longer and we'll all be slaying them yokai again.

How is the game on OG PS4 vs PS4 Pro ?

I only have a normal ps4 but im considering a pro just for the framerate because im only using a computer screen.
From beta on OG PS4
Movie mode 1080p 30fps, Action mode 900p - 720p dynamic resolution 60fps
PS4 Pro confirmed
Movie mode 4k 30fps and downsampling for non 4k TV's, Action mode 1080p 60fps

In Beta I mostly played Action mode on OG PS4 and ran great

Tempted to get an amazon prime trial and put in preorders for this and Yakuza 0 just to fill that tiny gap in February before the horizon/nier/persona 5/mass effect train. But I feel like one or both of those will end up thrown to the wayside and then I'll have regrets when I see them on sale for bomba prices.

I had no problem with alpha and beta on OG, changed the graphics to 60fps mode and laughed all the way.

Gravity Rush 2, Nioh, Nier, Persona 5... 4 is not enough!
But Nioh takes priority over all.

Since I dropped my Switch Preorder I am getting KH 2.8, Yakuza 0 (First Yakuza game), Nioh(!!!!), Horizon, Nier, Mass Effect, KH 1.5 + 2.5, and Persona 5 (Most anticipated). Good first 4 months for RPGs, japanese ones in particular.

Oh boy call me noob but, I know the difference between 30 fps vs 60 fps meaning it's going to be more fluid, specially when you move camera or something...

But what's the difference between 1080p and 900p? What is even resolution? I thought it was just the difference between you screen length meaning if you screen what bigger you would have a bigger resolution?

To put it basic, 60fps means it's smoother gameplay than 30fps
While higher resolution means picture quality more sharper and detailed

Nioh allows you to choose what mode you want to play in in the games settings and you can test both these out on your monitor see which one is better for you, for me I don't mind sacrificing some resolution from 1080p to 900p-720p dynamic resolution 60fps gameplay so I will be playing Action mode on my OG PS4 mainly.
I'll be buying a PS4 Pro soon and 1080p 60fps Action mode would be nice but to me 900pish isn't much difference to 1080p maybe because I don't really care about pixels so much so playing on OG PS4 is fine

Resolution is about the picture clarity. Go to a Youtube video and the settings with 720P, 1080P, etc... and play around with that. You'll really see the difference if you start with a sub-HD number (anything below 720P) and then put it on 1080P.

Awesome! Wish I could get this day one, though, I really do. But there's Horizon as well, and then NieR and Andromeda the following month. Would rather get something that'll stress me out at a later time, hahaha.

Thar Nioh Bloody Grave pre-order theme is pretty good, if you haven't pre-ordered it digitally yet. Here it is:

Beautiful theme! Glad I preordered the standard edition and the dope costume too

May go for the digital deluxe edition version instead which includes more stuff and i know I'll be playing this game for a long time so worth it

Hopefully there's a demo for this. It looks like it might be right up my alley, but I need to try it first.

They've had like 2 alpha and a demo already.

Indeed, but I get what he means. KT could do themselves a favor and just throw that Beta demo back up as their demo, unchanged, and just add in a list of changes from the Beta they made to Final so demo players know what gets changed for final release.

this is a very good idea :) ...

yeah I only played the alpha demo and it didn't feel like a game I wanted to buy, I still powered through it and beat the boss. But the changes I've seen since then sound promising. I didn't have the time to play the second demo.

Nioh: How to Defy Death in Team Ninja’s Latest

Nioh features quite a few weapons which, when combined with the fighting stances and upgrades provided by in-game blacksmiths, bring serious depth and customization to the game’s fast-paced combat. It often pays to experiment with different combinations!

Players can also wield more than 50 different types of magic and Ninjustsu, which are powerful abilities that can do everything from deploy projectiles to exploit a specific enemy weaknesses.

Then there’s the in-depth loot system, which rewards players for tackling ever-greater challenges. As with many games of this nature, the stronger the enemy you defeat, the greater the chance will find a highly valuable item. And believe me, there are a ton of desirable items in Nioh: rare, exotic, uncommon, and common weapons; various armor types; consumables; key items; projectiles; even smithing materials. You can buy and sell these items at in-game merchants, or forge weapons and armor yourself from the blacksmith.

I prefer Team Whichever Suits That Particular Stage Or Boss The Best.
Default to FireDoge due to the Ki-regen and melee damage buff though.

Like that side mission in the Beta? You bet your ass I brought the damn shark with me.

I'm loyal to my shark :)

but I get you, still, I like to roleplay so I'll be sticking with the shark for the whole game.

I just pre-ordered the digital deluxe edition. Feelsgood XD

Sony better change the release date on PSN tho, the timer is counting down to Dec 31st lol

The more I played Nioh, the more it sank its teeth into me. This isn’t a lesser alternative to Dark Souls, nor is it trying too hard to be Dark Souls. There are clear inspirations which have been taken from FromSoftware’s iconic franchise, but functionally the gameplay is much faster, with so many different combat mechanics in play at any one time.

The best way to describe the difference between the two is like the difference between PES and FIFA: both are playing the same sport, but bringing a different philosophy to it.

As I was playing as a level-100 character, I wasn’t able to learn about the levelling system or enemy scaling, but the Yokai and ninja on offer put up incredible fights even still.

If you’re a fan of Dark Souls, Nioh will absolutely hook you. If you’re not a fan of brutally difficult games, Team Ninja won’t show you any sympathy.

This is meant to be a masocore game, we consciously avoided making it easy - Fumihiko Yasuda

Great interview, listed reasons for changes and influences. I didn't know if i should make a new thread but this one is up and active so i might as well post it.

When it comes to expanding out beyond the gaming realm, the buck stops at the current manga in Japan, but we might see protagonist William in other Koei Tecmo properties at some point, according to Yasuda -- "[there's] nothing concrete at this point but I think it is possible. We will let our fans know if that were to happen.

There's a Nioh manga out in Japan? Wat. Man I hope some publisher picks it up, I'd love to read that.

I'm really struggling to understand this part. How is this "surprising"?!?
When asked how Nioh was born, he listed off his influences, some of which are surprising: "In terms of gaming, Nioh was influenced by [the] Bloodborne and Souls series. For RPG/hack ‘n slash elements, especially the looting system, we looked to Diablo as well as Borderlands. As for samurai depiction, we took hints from movies such Lone Wolf and Cub by Kenji Misumi and Yojimbo by Akira Kurosawa, as well as numerous Japanese period pieces.
Like every single one of those being listed is reading out " yup, yup, yup. All there" just from the Alpha and Beta alone.
