No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
I watched it. Pretty funny stuff.

I like how there are blue handprints spread throughout the house.

Anne's yearbook picture, with the 'not pictured' caption :lol

I enjoyed Cedric Yarbrough's cameo too, and the whole bootcamp thing.

I thought tonight's episode was the worst episode yet. Very few funny parts. We need more Tobias and Gob! They're the best parts of the show.

Average show tonight for Arrested Development. It was missing something tonight, a lot of the gags just didn't work as well for whatever reason.

Not as good as last weeks (I didn't understand George Michael's storyline), but still really good.
Shemale, Barry's assistant suing for being called a homo again, Gob's cell phone ring being "Final Countdown", Michael's continuing distaste of Ann, the Patriot Act as the excuse for the new prosecutor, Gob trying to hang himself. All hilarious.

Yeah, it wasn't great....I think the reason we didn't create a thread sooner was because we were in a state of shock after being spoiled by its prior brilliance.

still my favorite show on TV though :D

It wasn't as good as the last couple episodes, but an average AD is still tons better then most other shows on TV (including Simpsons. First mention in the AD thread!)

There were some things I did like:

- Gob's cell phone.
- They're balls!
- "Do you know where your father is? Wait don't tell me now. Okay, if you know, just gimme a high five!"
- Gob's attempted "suicide"
- "Is that her rape horn?"
"It's more like a starter pistol."
- Ann's photo with the caption 'not pictured' underneath it.

I also liked some of the throwaways like how the army/homo thing was almost the same thing that happened to Winkler's character in Season 1.

I wanna find out more about Michael's wife though; they seem to always mention her.

Damnit I miss this show. I haven't watched it in over a month now thanks to something we kids like to call "school."

Yeah, I was disappointed, but it ended hilariously and I didn't see it coming at all. So that made up for it.

I almost lost it when the cell phone started playing Final Countdown.

I would have made it, like usual, but I was busy making dinner.

The best part about this episode was all the Fox disclaimers about coarse language and wondering what they could possibly say that could warrent that on Fox. And then out of nowhere, in the last five minutes, "They're balls!" They must have said it at least a dozen times. :lol

:( Please pick up Arrested Development, so disappointing this season, bar Episode 2.
This episode WAS disappointing, but I was rolling on the floor last week. I was surprised that you (and I think calder) felt that it was a regression. It was maybe the best I've seen.

That's cool, though. Maybe different people appreciate different things (characters/types of humour) about the show.

True, and the fact that I didn't even know there were any Charlie Brown jokes in the episode until I checked this board obviously didn't help.

I'm just not sure the storyline's this year lend themselves to jokes as well as last time. Lindsay and Tobias looking for other partners seems almost completely humourless (with the exception of the second episode, which is where it should have stopped IMO), Tobias with the blue man group has led to some good stuff but hasn't quite lived up to the out of work actor thing, George Sr. in the attic/Mexico is nowhere near as good as in prison, and Buster defying his mother instead of being a momma's boy hasn't been much utitlised. As for Maeybe...does she even have a storyline without George Michael going after her?

There's been some good though. The whole Anne thing has been hilarious, though they're beginning to just say the same jokes every week now, and Gob as president has been great (though not necessarily any better than him as a magician).

And another thing, what happened to the underlying factor of the show? That Michael's the only one who does any work in an otherwise lazy family. Now the others might not be doing work still (though you could argue for Gob and Buster I suppose), but it's hardly ever mentioned.

They're also letting the Ron Howard narration ramble on too long.

That'll do for now.

I'm not really into the storyline since I've only watched the show sporadically, so I can see why I don't share your complaints.

-edit-

Huh, just found out that Lindsay is Michael's twin sister. Crazy.

Thought it was awesome as always, anyone who's dissapointed in this season is crazy... I think it's been much more consistently funny than Season 1 thus far.

I agree with the general sentiment that it wasn't the best show of the season but it did have its moments.

I dunno; I like some of the stuff in this season as much as I liked some of the stuff in last season. True, George in prison worked better, and Lindsay (especially in last week's episode) just kinda seemed wasted but this season has already had quite a few opportunities for my two favs, Tobias and Gob. The Anne stuff is great (especially when they just left her in Mexico) and Buster has always seemed to WANT to rebel to some extent, but always gets pulled back in (see also: the Liza Minelli stuff, season 1.)

I never really thought the theme was that Michael was the only hard working one; Lindsay DID get a job last year and Gob, for all it's cheesiness did work pretty hard at the magic thing. I always thought the underlying message of the show was that despite all the shit and nonsense that goes on, to Michael, (and even most of the show's characters) family is the most important thing and you just kinda bare through the crap and grit your teeth for the sake of family. Underneath the absurdity there is a good amount of heart there, and I think this season is showing that quite well.

Actually, I'm watching it again and there are some good moments, particularly the scene where George Sr. is pretending to be Oscar. Gotta love his view of his brother.

George Sr: "I just, uh, I just want to have sex with you. That's all I'm good for."
Lucille: "You smell like a pinecone."
George Sr: "Yeah, that's the weed. I went to my uh, my shithole trailer and uh, I smoked some like a cigarette."
Lucille: "Should we take it into the bedroom?"
George Sr: "Only if you really love me."
Lucille: "Of course I do!"
*George Sr. is visibly disgruntled, knocks over some family portraits*
Lucille: "What's wrong with you? Where are you going?"
George Sr: "I'm on mushrooms! I'm on bad... mushrooms!"

Watching more closely, it appears Lucille knows that George Sr.'s in the house and is purposefully getting him jealous. For a split second you see a devious look on her face when she turns around after telling George (posing as Oscar) she loves him. Interesting!

:lol I don't have the phone, but I want the ringtone, too. I found one that was pretty good, but I think it's an MP3; my phone will only play midis :(

Well, you know, comedies are the easiest things to judge out there, you either laugh or you don't. I think the show got a whole three laughs from me yesterday, one when I saw Tobias's hand prints all over the wall, one where Michael says "maybe it's your eyes" to George Michael and on with Gob's phone. Three laughs! I'd be laughing my ass off for entire episodes last year. I swear I missed jokes I was laughing so hard I could see the screen properly or hear what's going on.

So I'm sure you can understand why I'm finding this disappointing, imagine if you were getting a few laughs an episode. I get that many from Joey.

That's a damned shame. For your sake and mine, I hope the rest of the season is hysterical, even though I've enjoyed most of S2 until now.

BTW, if anyone can find a good Final Countdown midi ringtone, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.

I recall hearing that this season was "retooled."

Don't know if anybody's noticed but almost every episode this season has dialogue changes executed during cut-aways.
