I'm trying to have a discussion here but you continue to resort to bad faith.
How about those who dies in the animated adaptation or even in the comics? It's a STORY you know those aren't real people right? Funny how this is a concern only when it fir your narrative. There is plenty of people dying in 99% of any comics adaptation.
Pa Kent didn’t think his son was ready for the world to know and you never know how things can go. So yes he scarified himself. Now we can talk about the execution of the scene for sure.
Edit: Also I'm talking number because of how MoS did 670 million and was still called a failure by many. So yes if Superman 2025 is doing less than 670... what happen?
Here's the thing I said earlier:
"Since it's the time for stupid posts, let me join in"
"Since it's the time for stupid posts, let me join in"
"Since it's the time for stupid posts, let me join in"
I'm acting like Mana and other, and you are now included since you can't reply with a bit of maturity. Act like a kid get treated like one. Simple.
And I'll never wish for the DCU to fail. While Mana is obsessed with Snyder and can't miss an opportunity to shit on him, his daughter or his fans.
-bad faith, how? You can’t just make an accusation like that with zero clarification
-that has nothing to do with my argument. My point is Batman acted insanely recklessly for no reason other than “I don’t care” apparently, and people most likely died as a result.
When Batman pulled a similar stunt in Batman Begins, A) he was on a time limit to save Rachel, B) Alfred rightfully calls him out on it, and C) Alfred does clarify that no one was killed, so it allows us to continue to root for Batman knowing he didn’t actually kill any police officers even if he still should have acted less recklessly
The scene in Batman Begins is FAR better at displaying a Batman who’s flawed but the audience still wants to root for. I can barely root for Batman in BvS, and it’s mainly because of Affleck’s performance I feel invested in him slightly, and I detested that sad Affleck meme because it just frustrated me thinking Affleck thought fans hated his performance, when no, most of us had issues with the writing and not him. Thankfully, I’m sure Affleck is aware of that now, given he had no problem returning for both the Snyder Cut and The Flash.
-well, I think it was badly executed. And to me, Superman is always the most interesting when his sense of morality comes from the Kents. Having the movie focus far too much on Jonathan trying to hold him back, even when it came to saving kids, was not the way to go for me. It’s why the “you are my son” line is a rare good moment from him, and is a conversation adapted from a similar conversation between Clark and Jonathan from the comic Superman: Secret Origin
Like, you don’t have to put the Kents on a pedestal, but that was not the way to do it. Again, I feel Smallville did this quite well. Jonathan has serious trust issues with the Luthors. His distrust towards Lionel is fair, however IIRC he continues that mistrust even when Lionel begins to go down a better path. With Lex, while he does distrust him to a degree, he does show gratitude to him for being a good friend to Clark, but can come off too paranoid when Lex offers occasionally to help them with their financial struggles and such, which shows Jonathan does struggle with seeing Lex for who he is as opposed to who his father is. Granted, Lex does always have interest in figuring out if there is something Clark is hiding from him, but for quite a few seasons, his friendship is sincere and his offer of support to Jonathan was legitimate, so it does show Jonathan isn’t perfect
I’m not saying a movie should do all that because there wouldn’t be enough screentime to devote to that much, but I’m just saying I don’t mind the Kents being imperfect but still ultimately kind and altruistic, but MoS did not handle it well IMHO
-you said earlier this Superman better do over a billion, not 670 million.
And yes, Man of Steel was financially successful, I never claimed otherwise
-the problem is you posted with zero context, and regardless if you don’t believe it, I distinctly remember that weekend being the height of people concerned about the new COVID variant. The news was talking about it, my friends asked to not hang out that weekend, etc. And yes, a week later once more information was provided regarding the variant, people realized they could still go out and be generally safe provided they follow reasonable caution. I am not making this up, I distinctly remember this. Pitch Meeting even ended their The Suicide Squad video talking about it, so I know I’m not pulling this out of my ass.
-please provide the post where Mana verbally attacked Snyder’s daughter. Because if true, then yes, that is awful given what happened to her, and Mana, I like you man, but you should own up to that if true, a person taking their life and the parents’ sense of grief they must have felt is a level of tragedy most of us can’t even begin to fully comprehend. Snyder may not be a perfect director, but as far as I know, he’s never mistreated people he’s worked with or anyone in general, and he and his family deserve all the sympathy for the unspeakable loss they experienced.
That time was especially frustrating as Snyder wanted to keep the situation a private family matter, totally understandable, but when certain types of Youtubers who rely on conspiracy theories and ragebait heard that Snyder had left production to JL, they immediately took off with, “Snyder abandons his film! How unprofessional! The DC films are over!” and all other sort of overdramatic yelling to get those clickbait views. And Snyder, not wanting the film to fail given the work the cast and crew had done so far, felt compelled to publicly reveal what had happened even though he should have been afforded privacy regarding it but the situation stole that from him. *sigh*
Honestly, it just made me despite the sort of Youtubers who rely on conspiracy theories and ragebait even more. The fact that some of them PROFITED over making baseless rumors and accusation regarding a man who lost his daughter is absolutely disgusting. Even if they didn’t know until later, it shows why such negative discussions are a slippery slope, but I highly doubt many of them actually learned anything from the experience
