No live stream for Microsoft Gamescom media briefing

Holy shit at that comment haha. Man, seems like Sony is making Gamescom a big deal (as it should be) while Microsoft is just being whatever about it. Maybe they know Sony is going to announce something big and don't want to look like shit again?

What does that have to do with an annoucement?

they wouldnt announce a big new exclusive just like that, right? release a teaser trailer and a press release seems...underwhelming and not suited for a title like this (if it exists).

Avoiding the fake cheering from employees fiasco. Actually smart of ms. Cant fuck up publicly if its not shown to the public.

Gonna be hard to show the windows 7 dev kits running xbox games if only (paid)press are there

Lol. Wow. Common MS.

At this point the $500.00 I put down on your console feels like charity.

Give me something to get hyped about.

from the way they've been describing it this doesn't seem like much of a surprise. he said they'd have a short opening with a little news and then its just a big area filled with demo units what needs to be livestreaming the 10 min opener or people just walking around to demo kiosks? if they're releasing gameplay videos during the day i don't get what the gripe is.

What i don't understand is why they can't do both. There's plenty of time, do a press hands on and do a conference.

This is a bummer. :/ It's also not a particularly smart move because consumers in this industry more than any other don't trust the press.

Isn't there conference taking place before the Sony conference? I feel like this is there way to make sure they can kill some Sony momentum. After people get hyped watching Sony's event, MS will release the highlights of their conference, to keep their brand in the consumer's mind, as the 'last laugh'. It's a nice strategy, but the reasoning behind the lack of streaming is so transparent and pathetic.
Most likely the press are going to live blog so we will know what they announced unless they are under NDA.

i dont remember how they phrased it.

All I know is my friend has been talking about it and he's been hyping it up to be some super awesome, PS4 killing announcement
He's setting himself up for disappointment. All they said was that they'd show a "unique exclusive," at the show. It could be anything really.

It's okay Microsoft, there's still 3 days until the conference, that's enough time to GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER AND PREPARE A LIVESTREAM

It almost makes sense to me. The last two of their press conferences, they've been crucified. Of course they'd go for the tact that allows them to control the message on a more one-to-one basis with the press.

The media briefing is at 10:30 am in Germany. That is around 4:30am on the East Coast.
That's never stopped anyone before. If you press conference they will come.

With eyes on both Microsoft and Sony this is an incredibly stupid move considering they have a tougher road ahead. Also considering they are launching at 100.00 more and the momentum Sony has over them right now they have a lot to prove.

They already wanted to kill Sony at E3. See how this worked out.

It's easier to avoid booing if your not being broadcasted live in a large conference/the internet's all seeing eyes.

You may be joking but I wouldn't be surprised if this was their true reason. They got booed at EVO and comic-con, and the crowd acted like asses at E3 anytime anything went remotely wrong. At this point if I was Microsoft I'd be leery of live streaming as well...especially in a region that's more in sony's court than their own. People have shown they can't be trusted to behave.

Doesn't make it suck any less though.

It's logical that they won't livestream. The crowd's reaction during E3 was more than negative and now they are holding a press conference, basically, in Sony territory.
Nothing is better than millions of gamers worldwide watching a livestream only to be boo-ed by the crowd.

What's worse,a person who can't behave or be trusted, or an entire company?

That's why they have almost all launch games on the showfloor playable for the public on actual hardware, right? Makes sense.

so, microsoft is not streaming. will any of the gaming media do it or not?

afaik cameras are allowed, so yeah ... go for it Blim :)

What? Sony's conference start at 6 PM UK time, 7 PM Central European Time (think big cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Madrid, Paris, etc.).

Sony's time is perfect.
Yes, the Gamescom conference but their E3 conferences are always in the night in Europe.

So.. are we predicting.no release date for Microsoft then? Seems incredibly stupid as it's inevitable Sony will announce theirs. What other opportunities will they have.

Every conference/event that has ever been streamed is "like watching a party that you’re not at".

What a lame excuse. I guess they don't have any megatons from Gamescom.

Yes, but no one will say "boo" out of nowhere. But if you've got a huge crowd, watching a presentation, a "boo" can happen in an instant. And if that happens, you've got really bad press all over the place.

They're taking a page out of the Sony playbook lol. Letting Sony announce first this time and then come out and announce theirs... which is gonna be one day earlier lol.

Sony:- PS4 is coming out on October 21st!

MS (right after):- XB1 is coming out one day earlier!

What happened to the 'huge surprise reveal' with changed indie policies? Did they do another 180?

Maybe Sony will wait until TGS (which would be absolutely crazy, though).

There is no way Microsoft would let Sony have 2013 to themselves. Although Microsoft does seem unprepared and was caught off guard by the PlayStation Meeting, they wouldn't hold off until next year.
