I think my game is bugged and I have to start over after 20 hours. I can't build Warp Cells because I can't make Antimatter. I can make Electron Vapor and Suspension Fluid but without antimatter I'm screwed.

I know some people find the HUD a bit confusing, so here's a little guide that hopefully clears things up for some of you.

BOTTOM LEFT - PLANETARY INFORMATION

G0iwkrs.jpg

  • CLIMATE. This bar changes based on the weather and other natural occurrences on your current planet. You should always make sure you're wearing the appropriate protection.
  • LIFE SUPPORT. Don't confuse this with your health. This is what's keeping those harsh elements away from your fragile body! This can be repaired quickly and easily.
  • PLANET NAME. No explanation needed.
  • ATMOSPHERE. This has all of the other basic information about the planet. Temperature is front and center. Radiation & Toxicity levels are just to the right.

BOTTOM RIGHT - QUESTS & UTILITIES

Pua793S.jpg

At the very top we have our current quest. This changes all the time, mostly when you get a new upgrade. Below that we have:
  • EXOSUIT INVENTORY. This has a meter that fills up. If it's red, it's full!
  • JETPACK. You can't fly forever! Make sure this meter doesn't empty when you're over a big chasm! Stop using the jet pack to refill it.
  • STAMINA. The more you run (L3) the more the meter drains. Stop running and the meter fills up.

TOP LEFT - HEALTH & SHIELDS

pDqwSIw.jpg

  • SHIELDS. This is represented by the bar at the very top. You can repair these on the go, so don't forget!
  • HEALTH. Your health is represented by a row of boxed medical crosses. Each box represents one health node. A single hit will remove one node.
Many of the planets have flora with healing properties. If you find yourself low on health, scan the environment for health. If you still can't catch a break, then head up to the nearest space station. The attendant has the ability to heal you, given you are in good standing with the race.

TOP RIGHT - MULTI-TOOL & THREAT LEVEL

9Gt7mqC.jpg

  • MULTI-TOOL TEMP. The bar up top represents the current temperature of your multi-tool. The longer you hold the button, the hotter the tool. If it overheats, it will have to vent, but that only takes a second or two.
  • MULTI-TOOL HEALTH The percentage you see is the health of your multi-tool. The more you use it, the more it degrades. It can be repaired pretty easily with resources that are readily available on all planets.
  • MULTI-TOOL MODE This is your current selected mode. As you can see, I have the mining laser activated. If I were to use the boltcaster (switch with Triangle) THR my magazine would be displayed here as well.
  • THREAT LEVEL Those boxed diamonds you see on the right show your current threat level. When you do things you're not supposed to be doing, that will raise. The high the level, the stronger and bigger the reinforcements. This will also glow blue if you're currently being scanned by sentinals. Pay attention to the attitude of the sentinals, this information shows up when you land on a planet. You should also be able to see this by pressing the OPTIONS button and highlighting your current planet.

this planet has the most wildlife I've seen yet, though I still haven't seen a single world I'd call "lush."

Best thing about it is there are herds of goat things that are heridium-based. Farming by slaughtering animals, would recommend

Also, someone help me find exosuit upgrades, are they on certain types of planets more? the last 4 signal scanners I went to couldn't point me toward any drop pods.

Has anyone found a passive crab? These guys seem to be the galaxies biggest threat for me.

Yes, I found giant passive herbivorous crabs on Shaenathus in the Sauleneth segundus system.

Hope that helps.

I found a planet covered in low lying green grass, sparse trees, brightly glowing caves, and oceans full of fish. I called it Cobble Hill. It is drizzly and requires no environmental protection.

Congrats, you found a bug, it's a video game.

Is anyone else finding it really hard to tag all the species on a planet for the zoology milestone? I regularly get to 1 or 2 species left and cannot find them, and when I finally did the milestone never even popped! Also, tagging some of those birds that change direction a lot FUCKING SUCKS SEAN MURRAY.

I found a barren planet that had no wildlife of any kind on it. It also only had 2 types of plantlife (both fungus) and 2 types of rock formations.

Got that trophy within minutes of landing on the planet. Ended up spending a few hours there as there were a ton of temples littering the planet. Also, the cave systems sounded occupied. Like something large was deep in the depths.

And yeah, agree with you on tagging birds. I don't even try anymore. It's a total waste of time.

Thank you for this! I've been switching between mining and boltcaster by building and removing upgrades. Had no idea you could switch with triangle. SO good to know! :D

Surprisingly it does. I was convinced they were bugged and always aggressive. I've ran into at least 10 types and I always find them by having my shields ripped apart.

Love this game, can't wait to start again on PC now that I know how a lot of system work and how to pair suit upgrades/ship firing type/multi tool beams to improve their capacities. I know exactly which upgrade I'll follow this time around, nice.

Don't tease me! I like to put on streams of the game that are playing it raw, so I can just enjoy the aesthetics, and yours was the best one I've seen in all my searching. No talking, no overlays, high resolution. Perfect.

Ill stream again in 40 mins

Great explanations. Good enough to be added to the OT me thinks. Either this one, or the next, since we're rapidly approaching OT2 lol

Spent all evening on one planet just doing stuff. This game I tell you. I'll never get to the center at this pace lol.

Also, I have 4 animals left for 100%, but for the life me can't find them. Any tips on this?

This is a question I have wanted to ask for a while but is off topic: when is a topic considered done or closed on GAF for OTs?

So, I got the hyperdrive, fueled it, and now what? I have a manufacturing facility signal intercepted with a new blueprint found, but when I go there, I see a blue floating molecule, but nothing to interact with...

How do you tell when the tutorial is over? I want to claim my paltry preorder bonuses.

That might be it? I've never had a crash int he 10+ hours I've played, I've also wrped a number of times(Seems to be where most crashes are reported happening..)

Almost died of rad poisoning while holding full inventory with half a mil in gold, lol. Had to rush into the tiniest sliver of a cave with 0 health. Feeling like gollum out there 😆

I've had 2 warp crashes 2 at the loading/intro screen, and then 2 random hard locks.

You need to get inside the manufacturing facility.

Actually I got it wrong, for some reason I was thinking it was 10,000 posts, but it's actually 20,000 before a new topic needs to be started. So we're scarcely halfway to OT2. Plenty of time for us PC folks to get in on the fun.

Just hit 1mil units held at once for the fest time. Feels gud. I'm probably just going to keep saving for a better ship though, the once I have now has a fine hyper drive as it.

And woooo, another
space anomaly
just popped up after I 100%'d a planet.

To be able to do the ATLAS PATH do I need to have accepted the Atlas' Guidance at the very start of the game? If so, any tips on trying to find my exact starting location again? I know the name of the closest waypoint to there but do you think I can find it? It would certainly help if waypoints were shown on the radar. I've searched and searched...

I'm sorry if it's been asked, but does anyone know how you repair damage to your ship beyond your shields? I got knocked down to one "ship" of health and then next time I got spotted by bad guys I got destroyed. That was shortly after trying to figure out how to fix the damage that had been caused.

I think it might work out better to die anyway, since you can just pick up your dropped stuff and not spend any resources on repairs, but it would be nice to do it right.

Feeling like this game is turning out exactly how I expected, and that's not a bad thing. However, it does mean that it will likely not be my main interest for much longer, but something that I revisit and play casually once or twice a week with a couple hours.

That said, it was the reason I was interested in purchasing the game -- to visit during some of my downtime each week. It seems to fit that bill perfectly, and I'm satisfied.

Right now, there's enough of a hook to keep me playing as much as I can spare the time, but it doesn't feel like it'll sustain that level of interest for more than a week.

I've played about 5 hours now. So far it's exactly what I thought it would be. Fantastic. The moment you leave your first planet is exhilarating!

Hell yeah! :D I'm going to end up being in both boats there. So in love with this game right now that I'm most likely double dipping on Friday.

Anybody playing this who has done exploration in Elite Dangerous for comparison?

For reference, I did like 60 hours of nothing but exploration in ED.

Speaking of water, has anyone else noticed (and I have no idea how to search the topic for this as it could be worded so many different ways) that when you swim in a body of water, the surface of the water almost forces you downwards?

It's super irritating and makes me wanna avoid water.

Finally got my hands on the game. Stupid UPS decided to come and drop it off when I wasn't home and instead of dropping it off at the UPS access point a block away from my home yesterday they scheduled to do it today. Anywho I got my paws on the game. Played for about 4 hours.

Landed in a planet with acid rain and a toxicity level of 53% on average. Bummed out about it since I wanted lush, green exciting planet. Named the planet Callicia. The star system I couldn't help myself and named it 9inchRichard, juvenile yes but I thought it was silly.

I'll give impressions on the game after more hands on. That first time outta your initial planet and into outer space...whew.
