Can't wait for mods to come out on the PC version. Need to get rid of this stupid 250 inventory stack, or move the upgrades to a different screen.
In the span of like 24 hours I've gone from on the fence, to definitely buying, to definitely not buying to... back on the fence again.

"Make up your goddamn mind!" - fence

Oh, also, during the stream I tried to retain where I noticed recurring elements. I didn't have any lush or even semi-nice planets to comment on during this session but:

Nickel, Iron, and especially Iridium can easily be found in asteroid fields in low orbit around planets.
Copper is found in tall pillars or floating eggs on planetary surfaces. It's a brown, yellow shimmering metal.
Plutonium is red crystals, and also small red cargo boxes scattered around planets. It can be found anywhere but is especially abundant on cold planets.
Heredium is found on all planets as black and blue towers.
Aluminum is on planetary surfaces and in asteroid fields but seems fairly rare.
Chrysonite spawns on watery planets as blue flowers or crystals.

If you scan, the icons that pop up are usually:
Yellow (Oxide): Zinc, found on all planets with flora as yellow flowers.
Blue (Silicate):Platinum, found on all planets with flora as blue flowers.
Red (Isotope): Plutonium crystals or Thamium-9 flowers.

Would love to know if Gold, Titanium, etc. spawn on certain types of planets more often

Chrysonite tends to spawn mostly on water planets/planets with the majority of water. Found in plants mostly, sometimes in crystals on those planets.

...Actually I reckon that Chrysonite only spawns on water planets.

I had Gold on very warm planet, Chrysonite only on sub-zero/watery planets (but not on a planet with water plus acid rain), haven't seen Titanium in wild form yet

Started playing last night.

Highlight: Going lightspeed between planets, stars bending, slowing down and burning through the atmosphere before landing seamlessly.

Loving the tranquility and freedom.

I claimed my pre-order ship when I got to the first space station, am I screwed?

http://www.no-mans-sky.com/news/

It has been reported that using the pre-order bonus ship will leave some players stranded, if they purchase or transfer to a new ship that does not have a hyperdrive (if done very early in game). In most cases the player is actually able to continue (107 of the 135 reports emailed so far). The game already detects the player needs a hyperdrive and directs them to a nearby NPC who will give the player the hyperdrive they need. Some other players were able to resolve this issue by restarting their console.

Argh, I swapped ships without realizing that I had Antimatter in my old ship's warp drive that I found or bought, and now I have no idea if I'm supposed to make it or buy it or find it or what so that I can warp out of my first system.

Also have ONE species left on one of the three first planets ARGH WHERE ARE YOUUUUUUU

Great tips guys thanks. That explains why Chrysonite is so rare to me. I've only seen one water planet and it was before I restarted my save.

Gold can spawn on cold planets too for sure, so it might be "somewhat common." Titanium seems very rare but I have seen it in mineral form.

Was it a bad idea to go into the black hole before upgrading my suit/ship?

Because the drones keep attacking me for mining a little amount and I am now starting to get owned.

Regretting this choice.

Does everything just get ramped up harder as you make your way through the game?

Fourth time I've crashed on warp, getting annoying.

Soo, took the
black hole
shortcut and ended back up at the
anomaly
like 3 warps later, guess I went backwards. Or when they say repeat visitor is that possible it was in another system? Spent like 4 hours on a planet tonight trying to get all the species and came up empty handed on the last one. Nowhere to be found and what started as an adventure by foot ended up dragging on forever since I couldn't randomly come across a place to call my ship.

I do have to say the game excels when you just hang out and run around planets and scan/mess with the wildlife. Jumping system to system gets boring.

What's the most crazy shit you've seen so far? I fear the proc-gen is very conservative, but maybe it's just me. I only get uniform planets with some animals in rather Earth-like proportions.

I think the only interesting planet I've seen was a watery world where many of the ruins and whatnot were deep underwater. As for animals, I honestly can't remember anything but some animal madlibs (tiger head / chicken butt.

Has anyone had like a crazy mountainous planet or one with a ring or one in constant acid rain storm? Or a 100ft animal or a massive sea dragon or something?

Haven't seen a whole heap of diversity with animals (a lot of quadrupeds, a few weird jellyfish things), but starting to see some weird stuff on the planets. I just landed on a bright yellow moon that had rounded pyramids with a floating square ring around the top of them.

lt, I believe the
anomaly will continue to show up every now and then on your journey. I'm not totally sure how this all works but I think that's how it goes.

Different planets have different drone aggression. Some planets are 'national parks' so to speak. I started on such a planet.

If there is any lesson to be taken from this thread- If you have a problem, just keep playing to solve it. (apart from actual bugs of course!)

It's super strange. Some people have crashes almost Everytime they jump, others (like me) never had one. Winner what the cause is.
No idea man but its not even the crashes as much as the blueprint bug.

Its this shit. No I dont already have it. And its not just this blueprint, its every one. Ive been finding cool shit but none of them show up in my inventory.

Totally game breaking for me and I think I may put it down until it gets fixed.

I tried loading an older save. Still happens. I pretty much cant upgrade anything at this point.

And Im waaaay the fuck to far to start over.

Well I guess I could farm gravitinos until the cows come home.

I must be lucky then. My first planet has Titanium a plenty. Same with Platinum-flowers, Gold, Emerite... Don't wanna leave. (15 hours in.) :D

Ah yeah, I'm in a completely different system than the first time, good call, haven't been paying that close attention. Wonder if I can get the v2 from here. Ah crap different station type you get those in :/ getting tired.

Every single planet has the same cloud/atmosphere pattern.

It gets annoying for me when wandering a planet and looking up, seeing 4 planets with exactly the same "weather" if you may.

Other than a couple other quirks, I'm enjoying this quite a lot. I'm currently sporting 26 slots in the suit, 23 in my ship and 18 in my multitool, I think I'm 20-25 hours in.

Any recommendations to make money? I'm currently just farming rare mats from planets, as in Gold, eridium, etc, and selling them, as well as "green exclamation" markers.
Someone said they're addressing that in the next update.

I regret my choices -.-

I'm on my second system, decided I wanted to discover every species on every planet/moon in this system before I move (small system, obviously won't bother with this most of the time).

I've been stuck on the first planet looking for the last species to HOURS now. And it's a horrible planet. Drab, constant acid rain, fairly poor in resources, no trading stations, very few suit upgrades...

My first planet had a trading system and launch pad (with frequent visitors) in almost every building I came across. I took that for granted, now the nearest trading point is a 30 second phase jump away :(

On the bright side, I'll be fluent in Vy'keen by the time I leave. I also found a column of aluminium worth ~400k, and after my next jump I should be able to afford a decent ship.

I've had a planet where the main planet element laying around in large clumps of rock was gold.

A low atmosphere planet had the exotic Merrium element everywhere.

Both give alot of money, but I think the most can be made at space stations via trade.

Found another amazing planet last night. Also had pretty big animals on it too. Biggest I've seen so far. I'll probably post a few photos in the Photo thread of them when I get back from work :D

Apologies if this has already been covered, but this thread is a beast.

How do you find your way back to POI you've already discovered on a planet? I found a crashed ship on my second planet, but didn't have the materials to repair it. Went off and found what I needed, only to realise I'd travelled quite a distance from the downed ship and...literally have no idea where it is! Is there an easy way to find it again? I can't seem to find a planet map or anything in the UI.

there is no way to mark anything or to find it again

I'm fascinated by this game but I'm sure I would grow tired of it really fast. This usually happens to me in open world games without somewhat clear objectives. Now, I don't mind forging my own path and figuring out what to do but everything about this games tells me I would be awestruck for a couple of hours and then bored to death by landing on yet another random planet and doing the exact same thing as on the previous one.

Great find about iridium in low orbit asteroids. I'm dying for iridium right now for the warp reactor.

I found out about the copper eggs the hard way... 400 required for the warp drive... Took me about 7 planets of scouring Dx

And yes you get some planets that will be literal gold mines/iridium mines/etc

Atlas spoilers:
I think I completed that quest line? Got to the final bit and handed in my stones to create a new planet for someone else to start on...apparently. Very Journey-ish, if true. Also, did anyone else realise running over all the lights in that area unlocks you SO MANY WORDS!?

After all that I found a pretty boring planet...or so I thought until I went into the caves. Vortex. Cubes. EVERYWHERE! All over the damn planet! Stacking some serious cheese right now, holy moly. Thank god I prioritised my exosuit and have 45 slots!
