No Man's Sky "Path Finder" Content Update announced

Really struggling to find the elements I need for the engineer to progress my research so I can start developing the vehicle stuff at my base. Visited loads of planets to find that Cactus

Everything you need is on the planet where your vehicle is, unless you mean further on than I've got.

So you haven't even started? What are you looking for? I'm assuming you've built the scanner to find the first thing you want?

Ive built a base and employed a technician. Then a scientist who asked me to build a vehicle platform, and I dont have the blueprints to make the components. I read you need to find an element for the technician who will then give you said blueprints. Its tough as I have picked the game up after months and so much has changed.

Ah, you need a Voltaic cell? You'll need to hire the builder first and get your base up and running before doing the technician quest. I think it's the scientist you need after the builder. Just progress through those quests and you'll get the Voltaic cell pretty quickly. You get the blue-print for the vehicle platform from the technician.

I need 50 Spadonium, cant find it anywhere, even on Barren planets.

If you scan the planets from space it'll tell you if they have Spadonium. It isn't super rare, so I'd be surprised if you don't run into it after 2 or 3 jumps.

What do you need Spadonium for for the vehicle parts anyway? I'm trying to think.

He needs to get the Voltaic cells and one of the quests to get that requires Spadonium.

You need Spadonium to create a Science Research Center, which will then let you craft Volatile Cells. Unless there is another annoying list of mineral-fetching to go through after that.

Volatile Cells are require to make the Exocraft Hanger things which let you ride buggies and hover craft.

So, basically, if you don't already have that Spadonium stuff, you hit a really annoying brick wall with the game and you have to waste a ton of time scanning and jumping systems.

Or you can download a trainer/mod and just give it to yourself.

Help. I'm stuck.

So that's why all y'all were farming lubricants...

Spadonium? pfft. That's really not that hard to find - a few warps and several planet scans should locate the place to go hunting for it.

Now imagine you're hunting for Sac Venom instead, because you didn't bother to install an agriculture desk which teaches you how to grow the stuff locally in short order... :-|

It's the wrong focus for the game. Every day they work on appeasing those who interpreted when Sean Murray said you would be able to see other people as 'multiplayer' is a day wasted for appeasing the very audience this game was aimed at. WE should be the priority, not those who constantly complained the game wasn't what THEY wanted. I bought this game for the singleplayer game it was meant to be and the promoted motive of exploration. Sean Murray has to be very careful here because he could end up losing the audience who stuck with him. As Sean said himself, if you want multiplayer you can always play COD.

Multiplayer should be added a lot further down the line.

This is exactly how I feel. The game was marketed as a single player game. Why should people who only wanted to see what they wanted and chose to only see that despite him many times saying it was aimed at single player dictate what the game is when as soon as it unsurprisingly wasn't an mp game they left in a loud huff anyways? I mean yes the online aspects he did promise weren't there but they were meant to add more flavor (as in giving you the feeling there were other people out there in a way to make it feel more lonely knowing they are but not seeing them often if at all), not give it multiplayer. He even said a few times he might add multiplayer later if the game was successful but he wanted to focus on it being a single player game initially.

Now if he later adds in an mp mode (that is seperate unless it is the online aspects he originally promised which really don't lend to an mp game), that's fine but for now I'd like him to focus on improving the single player aspect.

Exactly. I also think there's more story to explore and not knowing exactly what we look like or what species we are should play into that. Once the revelation has been revealed and we finally find out what we look like then, yes, by all means add co-op, and then multiplayer later on.

So my game looks WAAAY saturated than before... I tried messing with the game options, but that does help.

Does anyone know if Hello Games commented on this for a future update?

I have LG C6 OLED.

I don't want to have to keep messing with the TV settings just for this game.

When you say game options, do you mean the new screen filters? Because the "Vintage" filter should make it look exactly like it did pre-Path Finder.

It must be something to do with you TV because the graphics are toned down a lot for me. It's more 'pastel' and the caves no longer look like Santas grotto, which I like a lot.

Was it always possible to have two different elements in one? I'm just now mining some gold but it also contains nickel? I've only ever seen that in pre-release demos.

I need 50 Spadonium, cant find it anywhere, even on Barren planets.

From a Foundation thread on Reddit, here's the locations of the new elements:
Antrium - Glowing plants in caves. Shoot glowy, get this.
Pugneum - Kill sentinels.
Tropheum - Kill pirate ships. (Thanks /u/marl11)
Mordite [F] - Kill creatures. May only be certain creatures?
Coprite [F] - It's poop. Feed creatures, hope they poop this. Can be grown as well.
Spadonium [F] - From barren planets. Looks like a cactus.
Candensium [F] - harvest from special plants on radioactive planets.
Coryzagen [F] - From cold planets, a blue plant with crystals kind of mixed in, harvested.
Temerium [F] - Toxic planet fungi. Looks like a mushroom type thing.
Fervidium [F] - From hot planets, small tree like plant.
Cymatygen - found only in blue star systems, mineable blue shiny rocks material that lines egg like craters.
Viridium - Found only in Green star systems, it is a resource mined (was a green shiny resource that was like the egg shape ones, but making an egg shaped hole in the ground and it lined the edges).
Rubeum - Only found in Red star systems, mined resource.
Rigogen - Underwater , plant with a couple white glowing orbs on strands out of base. Doesn't show up on scan :( (thanks /u/kjalle)

If you do a scan of a planet in space, it will tell you the main elements it has. Spadonium is usually found on the desert planets.

- Anyone found out how to own multiple ships yet? fake edit: reading reddit, it's sounding like you can't purchase (not trade) a ship unless you have a freighter?

- Has anyone found someone else's base yet? It sounds like once you 'share' your base, anyone who stumbles across the area should see it?

Wait, there are deserts? I've never seen one of those

Well, not desert like sand dunes. I've never seen one like that. I meant more like badlands... barren, cactus, sagebrush kind of stuff.

Amazon warehouse has this like new for $15.76. Now a good time to bite? Worth it at that price? As if my backlog isn't already big enough.
Having a good time with it. I'd say watch some streams to be sure it's for you. The planet to planet experience is still very repetitive.

It's very much a zen experience game imo. If you're the kind of guy who loves Skyrim and Horizon: Zero Dawn for the environments, and often deliberately ignore fast travel options in open world games to enjoy emergent exploration gameplay, you'll likely love this game. But if you enjoy moment to moment gunplay and couldn't care less about environments as anything more than a backdrop, then not so much.

Gonna go ahead and give it a shot. Thanks guys.

Finally picked this up after this update and the last update. Game is gorgeous on PS4 Pro and i like it so far. What i dont like is how it has my Pro's fans running somewhat high almost all the time. I can play Horizon in 4K HDR for hours and barely hear my fan. I wonder why this game is the complete opposite?

This game is basically a Dr. Seuss sim. The planets/environments (and many creatures) just give off that vibe.

Anyway, having only just started experimenting with the base building stuff, I'm loving the fetch quests and the general feeling of having a purpose. Also seems more lively at the various stations and depots.

Hopefully hunting/farming comes into play where you can track down specific animals for their meats (or skins) for folks on the stations. Or being able to live capture animals for your base as either a pet or your own personal zoo? (Think GotG's The Collector lol)

Have never seen an actual desert. Just rocky barren or barren. Not sure an actual desert planet exists at all.
This looks pretty "desert planet" to me.
planet1desertihlup.jpg

If you mean rolling dunes covering the whole planet, I'd bet that's exceedingly rare since dunes usually alternate with rock.

But there's so many possible planets, I wouldn't put it past the algorithms.

Not trying to attack the game lol. That first one is pretty much what I described as barren or rocky barren. Definitely haven't seen that second type though, neat.

Awesome.

That's what I love about this game. It's very possible, (hell even likely) I'll never be on a planet like that.

That timed buggy mission needs a bit of work. The outpost it told me to rush to was out of range of my buggy by a few minutes, even with constant boosts. Didn't help that I ran out of plutonium halfway through and had no reserves, but there's no way I would've made it in time anyway. Ended up having to walk around until I found a trading outpost to call my ship, then redid the mission by flying there.

I think they should really dial down the plutonium burn rate on the buggy. And I just don't understand why they made plutonium so rare now. It makes getting anywhere more of a pain than it should be.

Okay I didn't notice this but was this added with the Path Finder update. So when I visit a planet that is discovered from someone else, I can see all there stuff in the discover for that planet now. Awesome. Plus it looks like I can finish what they didn't finish in finding the creatures on the planet.

So I warped to a new system for the first time in Path Finder. I hovered over a planet in the galaxy map and it gave me a little melody, weird. So I hyperspaced there and it was playing music while I was warping, and then when I warped in it said "Euclid Galaxy | First Contact". I've never seen that First Contact bit before; just some new text to denote it's undiscovered, or something new? Does that music mean something?

I really like how the nanite shops sell different blueprints in every system. Encourages exploration and keeps things fresh.

This guy was selling something named like a "Javelin Boost Array Theta" upgrade for the multi-tool, which states that it "upgrades the power of the javelin weapon so that it can be used for mining asteroids." Mining asteroids? With a multi-tool? How does that work? A bug, or is this letting slip some future spacewalking feature?

I thought you could already see previous discoveries..? Maybe I'm misremembering, if not, great to have finally.

You could but you had to find the discovered stuff first, I don't remember seeing my discovery page like this when I visited someone else's planet I could be wrong if someone cares to correct me on this but I swear I don't remember it look like this when I visited a discovered planet.
