No Mans Sky | PC Performance Thread

It seems like the problem is that when the game for some reason hits 100% CPU (Like when it's generating terrain), everything else starts getting starved for resources.

Also the game runs at "Above Normal" priority, so that means all the other applications running on your PC gets starved for resources too.

Gtx 1070, 4670k 4.3 ghz, 12 gigs of ram, and the game us running from an SSD
I barely made 55 fps, wich dip to 40 if i turn around, i also got stutering, and the sound cuts every 20 seconds or so.
Great.

After replacing the in-game v-sync with driver v-sync, it's running smooth as silk on the highest settings, with a GTX 970 and i5-6600k. There are hitches when the game needs to load, which is annoying.

Whew.... Not what I was wanting to read this morning but not unexpected either :/

Headed home in a little bit hoping that the dice roll goes in my favor (which it surprisingly did with arkham knight as it ran perfectly smooth and great for me on day 1)

4770k @ 4.5ghz
980ti @ something I dont' know
16g rams

Anyone find an INI file or anything like that, that would indicate the ability to manually configure graphics options (like pop in)

I'm watching CohhCarnage as well. The game looks pretty good. He mentioned he thinks the pop in is actually better on the ps4 version though. Maybe that is because he has his FOV at 90?

Kinda makes me want the game again, but I'll need to wait til I upgrade my system.

What the...

When I click the Steam menu and select "Local Files" the buttons are all greyed out despite having downloaded the entire game (eg the verify integrity game cache button is disabled). Also there is a "Play" button (not "Install")

Other games have the buttons available as would be expected

- edit ok even weirder, there wasnt a language seleted - once I selected english the buttons show up

The game runs my CPU at 100% at all times.
That fucks my entire system and everytime it needs to load something, the entire system freezes for a tiny second.

I am trying everything here.
I might try and set graphic settings.

Great.

Disable vsync, set max fps to "max" (unlimited), force vsync via control panel and use RTSS to lock fps to whatever you desire.

Great.

See tweaks on first page. Turn off Vsync in-game and set MAX FPS to "MAX". Turn on V-sync from graphics card control panel if you wish. If you have a g-sync or freesync monitor, obviously don't turn on v-sync from graphics card control panel.

Edit: Beaten like a lazy dog.

Yeah, the hitches is what is bothering me. The game freezes for half a second or more, which makes the game unplayable.

Really strange since it was perfect 30FPS on PS4.

So, my stuttering is mostly gone if I disable VSYNC in the game and enable it from the NV control panel.

Still stutters like crazy when entering/leaving planets.

The game doesn't really look or feel 1080p. Looks upscaled for some weird reason. Especially foliage and effects.

I activated Adaptive V-sync in the Nvidia control panel ("Adaptive"), but it doesn't seem to work in-game (I desactivated the in-game Vsync). What else should I do ?

Also, god the game looks pretty bad, even for an indie project. I just finished Abzu and it's (next gen) day VS (mid PS3) night.

Nvidia GTX 960
OC'd Intel Core i7 860
8GB of DD3 RAM

Ran really nice downsampled from a 2520x1575 at a 30fps cap. Went to rebind my controls and now it manages 12fps at best and averages at 10 while the GPU & CPU are both around 30% util. Not sure what's going on but I can't wait to save and restart the game since right now this is really unplayable.

Man, lower user reviews than SFV and Arkham Knight. That's some sort of achievement.

Wow, this is one of the biggest Steam launches ever! 202K+ playing right now.

You can't deny that Sean Murray is a good hypeman/marketer. Maybe he chose the wrong career.

That would explain why TB's recording software/voice would also stutter when it got really bad at certain points. A really poor way of optimizing it.

Should I be using Nvidia Inspector to force Vsync and AA in my games? First I've heard that this program can override setting vs. just do monitoring. Is the forced VSync and AA for Inspector better than game-specific settings?

For the most part, you should always use Nvidia Inspector for Vsync. That is, if you're aiming for a consistent frame interval (such as 60 or 30) and can maintain it. Otherwise, if you're fluctuating a lot, turn all Vsync off and run in borderless windowed mode to use real triple-buffered Vsync (through Window's compositor).

You will usually have more AA options through Nvidia Inspector, but not every game will support forcing these properly. Stick with in-game if it's good enough, otherwise see if alternatives are possible.

And of course, always use RTSS for your frame rate limiter.

That's just general advice for all games.

I think the Arkham Knight scores were reset after they re-released the game + patches, It runs much better these days.

You guys are fortunate if you only have stuttering.
Mine still cannot run higher than 20fps at any time even when everything is turned to the lowest and turned off Vsync/FPS limit.

T_T

The port can be poor, which it seema it's all over the place now, but TB needs to grow up and calm down. The guy is acting belligerently for no absolute reason.

This is why I stray away from these reviewers on YouTube, they have barely any professionalsm good amount of the time.

Also those with SLI how is it handing? Support good there or what?

That's my greatest complaint so far. I am running it at 2K and the IQ is not great.

But, why? They straight up lied about a feature in their game. And then they released this mess of a PC port.

On top of charging as much as they asked for it. They really did this to themselves. It makes me sad though, I really wanted the port to be good. :(

I legitimately feel a pain in the pit of my stomach.

Game crashes on launch for me with a XInput dll error. Admittedly I'm trying to run it off a cloud machine, but this is the first trouble I've had with a game. This was on Windows Server 2008 R2 - should be the same as Windows 7 which is supported apparently. I'll try a later version...
