Hello Games just doesn't stop.
At some point, I'll just take the time to try out NMS. With every update, my respect for the game grows. I'm reluctant to start a 100+ hour game.

But it's certainly tempting.

I can't believe I don't somehow own this game already. I really want to check it out sometime but I'm always so short on time, and this seems like a game that demands your time to get the most out of it.

I recommend trying out the expedition game mode. It's like a condensed adventure campaign within the game.

If I remember correctly playing one expedition took me about 10 hours from start to finish.

I keep trying and want to play with VR to make it more immersive, but -- long sessions in VR just aren't realistic for me. It's a slow start, but when you start traveling with the pulse engine, it's pretty cool.

Would like to see what else this studio can do besides all these updates for NMS.

There's some new game under development called "Light No Fire". Curious to know more on that.

They always slap a 50% discount when they update the game (hey, it's 60% on Steam). Often climbing to the top10 top selling games, but not right now anyway.
The updates pay for the development of the tech for Light No Fire.

That looks great, finally it seems like there is 0g, we can see players floating in space and even sky diving!
Walking around your ship is also pretty cool!

Already had the game on PC but bought it again for Switch 2 because their (free) updates are amazing

How is the Switch 2 version Stitch Stitch ? Been thinking about grabbing it when it goes on sale......decent framerates I hope?!

Checked the Nintendo eShop and they currently want full price $59.99 for the Switch 2 version. Will wait for a sizeable discount...

It was $15 at launch. Bought it but haven't touched it yet. It seemed to be good from reviews. I think you can get the Switch 1 version and upgrade it for free? 🤔

It's pretty smooth most of the time. You can even unlock the framerate in the options, but I did find parts where the switch 2 was struggling a bit, like when there are many smoke/dust effects. Never unplayable, but it got noticeably worse.
I've been playing handheld most of the time so it might perform a bit better docked!? But I think it's a great handheld game and I somehow enjoyed it more than on PC.

Got it on sale and don't regret it.

Cool for them to put out so many updates, but as a sandbox game it's still kinda pointless, no? Do you still spend half of your playtime managing your inventory and resources?

That's been my experience with these updates. The new additions are cool but the core game is still rotten.

I got a mech when those were added and it was like "ok, now what?"

Ive never seen a game promoted in trailers for so long which is so different than the actual game.

Every trailer makes NMS into some exciting space game with ships zooming around and your guy getting into fast paced action and exploration, when in reality watch any YT video and its a slow paced slog spending half your time mining rocks.

To people being confused why they keep doing this - the game goes on sale for little north of 20€, they are not idiots, they won't discount further. At this stage, so many years in, getting 20€ per game in spikes is crazy money.

I have this game on my PS5 and PC and every time I try to play after these massive updates, I just get lost and wander around.

I don't even know what the game is about, anymore. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

So they basically incorporated one of the biggest features Starfield had over them, i.e custom ship building.
But still missing good gameplay/combat. I'm playing NMS on my Switch 2, after playing SF and it's hard to just have fun. Playing, without creating reasons in my own head to keep going, because the story in NMS is god awful.

Its a pretty remarkable technical achievement to iterate out so comprehensively without the core code-base turning into a nightmare of spaghetti code.

I really don't think Hello get a fraction of the respect they deserve just on those grounds, let alone the decade (?) of work they've put in on the project without resorting to charging the userbase for the effort.

How the fuck they're making enough money to keep dishing out updates like this for free? lol. I keep telling myself I need to get back into this game but end up never doing it;(

I tried to like No Man's Sky, but I just couldn't get into it. It's kinda aimless, the space parts of the game are not as engaging or interesting as they are in Freelancer. And the crafting stuff feels like it's there to fill out the game. Maybe it's supposed to be more like Minecraft with spaceships? I dunno.

I so fucking wish someone would make a modern take on Freelancer. Chris Roberts is busy scamming people with his MMO bullshit, and Microsoft probably doesn't even remember that they have the IP.

What drives me to continue playing is getting the different blueprints to build new vehicles like the Mech and the Submersible. Then I use those to further explore ocean planets or try to take on tougher enemies. Then there's trying to reach further out galaxies which contain unique planet types and Animals, weather phenomenon etc to see. Also I want to get different types of starfighters to pilot and build in my personal fleet with my personal Freighter. Also I want to finally explore one of those derelict abandoned ships straight out of a horror movie...and now apparently there's zero G and space walking available. There's clearly a lot to see and do in this game if you don't mind making your own goals and moving at your own pace.

I'm starting to think about trading in my PS5 for a PS5 Pro for the enhancements on PSVR2.
