Tidbits from this Issue:
Yuji Naka Interview:
He says new Sonic for Gamecube will be playable at this years E3 and released this year.
He also mentions Sonic for Nintendo DS. It IS related to the early "rubbing" tech demo, but that's not the game in itself. He's being very careful with it, so it could be a while before it comes out.
He is once again asked about Nights and some other game. He says they are his much loved games. They will not be outsourced, they will be done in house if they are ever done. He said they would have to be very careful if they created new games, to make sure they were good.
Comments on the co-development of Feel the Magic with UGA. Nintendo approached SEGA to create something for a new audience -- which is why the dating theme was eventually chosen.
PSO will return again. He wants to keep it going. Nothing new in the immediate pipeline.
They ask him if he'd change anything about Nintendo DS. His response is that the GBA port isn't needed. He said it would be much more slimline if it wasn't there.
He comments on Sonic Vs Mario dream games. He and Miyamoto often talk about it. Uses Sonic appearing in Mario Kart as an example, and says that Sonic wouldn't need a kart. Clashes like that often lead them to leave it alone. He says it would be very easy to put Sonic as a cameo in a Mario game or vice versa, but that he'd rather do a game dedicated to both - like Mario Vs Sonic.
Any past animosities with Nintendo? He's very close to Miyamoto and speaks to him regularly. Loves working with Nintendo. As a former hardware maker, SEGA understands what Nintendo do and what they go through.
150 greatest titles (on Nintendo systems obviously):
It was voted for by readers so I disagreed with how low some classic games were, but its understandable. Ocarina of Time predictably takes top spot. The page dedicated to it has some quotes that readers sent in with their votes -- there's some really funny ones about shedding tears, being the highlight of their entire lives etc. Brilliant stuff.
Overall its a good issue. There was a page with a lot of old cover images to look at, and I remembered quite a lot. I'm still reading the rest.
