North Korea says supreme leader Kim Jong Il has died

I still don't think harsh irony is appropriate when people are dying. And I'm not just pointing you out.

No one is making jokes at the expense of the people that may have died at the hands of the regime. They're sarcastic jokes aimed at him In the same way people who continually used that hitler scene on youtube were not doing it at the expense of 6 million Jews dying at the hands of the Nazis. Team America makes light of him as well, but again they are not doing it at the expense of the people that died.

Not everyone interprets it the same way as you do. Not everyone has your sensibilities.

I'm going to irrationally raise my hopes, believing that this will lead to at least a gradual reconciliation with sanity for DPRK.

*Hopes likely to be lowered by tomorrow morning.

china will take over the country. It will be west china or east or what ever but china will take it over.

No, why would China take over what is essentially a special needs school?

I'm curious as to who crazy monkey thinks will take over North Korea now. I hope he pops in this thread and lets us all know.

Kim Jong Il died the same way he lived, as the butt of a million bad jokes.

Everyone said North Korea was doomed when Kim Il Sung died. We will see how this plays out, too early to make any real predictions.

But he won't be missed.

cheaper labor. Land and natural resources. Strategic location for military.

Uh...it's not that big. The population is under educated and its full of tungsten and no natural resources. The southern part of the Korean peninsula was always the resource rich part.

Oh, thank you Tim Tebow for praying for Kim Jong Il's death.

Kim Jong-nam:
"Following a much-publicized botched attempt to secretly visit Japan's Disneyland in May 2001, he was thought to have fallen out of favor with his father."
"It was verified later on that this was a rumor and that Kim Jong-nam is still staying in Beijing and Macau as before while travelling to Austria and France (for medical reasons) early November 2007 where he gave a short interview to a Japanese TV channel after going to Moscow."

Kim Jong-chul:
"Kim Jong-nam was arrested at New Tokyo International Airport, Japan, travelling on a forged Dominican Republic passport. He was held and then deported to the People's Republic of China. The incident caused Kim Jong-il to cancel a planned visit to China because of the embarrassment to both countries. As a result of this incident, Kim Jong-nam has fallen from favour. He was later reported to be living in Macau."

Kim Jong-un:
"On 10 October 2010, alongside his father the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-il, Kim Jong-un attended the ruling Workers' Party's 65th anniversary celebration. This was seen as fully confirming his position as the next leader of the Workers' Party. Unprecedented international press access was granted to the event, further indicating the importance of Kim Jong-un's presence."

Dear armchair analysts saying anything abnormal will happen now such as military taking over, you are wrong. Absolutely nothing will change. Il planned for the sucession for years and the military will let Un rule because thats the only way to maintain the elites favorable position. NK was in way worse situation during the last sucession.

Kim Jong Il can't be in heaven because he has no Seoul.

cheaper labor. Land and natural resources. Strategic location for military. China was the one of the stronger supporter of the country anyways.
No they arent.

Back in the day they helped them out because during the combloc era China and Russia would throw munitions at any nation that was against the West. The reason they supported North Korea through the Korean war was for just that. After the war, especially now, they are keeping North Korea afloat so they dont have to handle 20 million refugees spilling into their nation and costing them billions to feed and shelter. It would be a colossal nightmare for them.

LOL, the ridiculousness of world leaders. I talked to a guy one time who's business was basically to put in hot tubs for Saudi Arabian royalty - literally hot tubs 1/2 the size of an Olympic pool, gold fixtures all around, etc. This is nothing.

doesn't this statement basically make you an armchair analyst too? we've all read the same news stories that are doing their analyses based upon literally no information. predicting what will happen to this country is impossible, but its awesome that you and your big ass ego are going to be snarky in this thread.

I've always heard that neither country wants that. They just want a healthy relationship and the ability to trade or some shit like that.

If DPRK got with the program and reformed, they could be the new cheap labor source in the Far East. The party leaders and elite could profit and live better than ever, while probably even the bottom rungs of society would see an improvement in their standard of living.

Ok, don't shoot me if this is a stupid question, I'm just going by what I've seen in short videos here and there. From what I can tell, the North Koreans just about worship his father as a type of literal god. Do the same people view his son as such, or is it different?

China has always wanted the peninsula but didn't have the balls to attack a bat-shit insane dictator, while Kim Jong Un is just a chubby little shit.

There's is nothing to gain in North Korean but barren land and millions of starving malnourished Koreans the Chinese want nothing to do with. Oh and they have a crazy ass military. Yeah. Not even gonna bother I'm guessing.

Thank god for experts like yourself

Dude, tungsten.

My next project was based on North Korea and Kim Jong-Il. Still can happen, this is just weird though. I was in the library for at least six hours today doing research on him.

I wonder if this will de-stabilize North Korea, or if Kim Jong-Un will try to show some sort of military muscle (as he as suggested in the past) in order to play the part of the parent.

Strange times, indeed.

Kim Jong-Un (I think that's his name) has been tagging along on trips to China and doing other "Dear Leader" type activities since Kim Jong-Il's stroke right? I'm not sure this transition will be that tumultuous since it's been expected for a while and presumably has Chinese backing.

that sounds either horribly uncomfortable or dangerous. i guess which one depends on how it was made.
