Norton Internet Security

So this morning a computer at the IP 0.0.0.0 attacked me. I read the little blurb they give you in these alerts and it said that my computer was attacked by, uh, itself. is this even possible?

I was also attacked by a computer in N. Korea. Kim Jong Il is out to get me for watching Team America, I guess.

You do have a firewall right? If you have a constant internet connection, you NEED a firewall.
I suggest ZoneAlarm.

I'm still on dial-up (gasp!) so I don't need a firewall. It would be nice but not necessary.

And I got Norton because it was free after rebates. it does what it's supposed to do alright, I guess. The total lack of any ads while surfing is very lovely though.

I ran ad-aware and spybot and they found nothing, not even tracking cookies (yay Opera!), so I dunno. Maybe it was just an awkward outbound communication that was misinterpreted?

Were you playing X-Box Live or some other console on your router? My Norton I.S. freaks out when I do that. But other than that, the program has been a saviour. That along with my router/firewall and Ad-Aware, I feel like I have some kind of protection. I know that there is no such thing as a 100% protected PC though.

On this note, a few days ago my NIS firewall was suddenly blocking access to all websites, AIM, BOINC, LiveUpdate, and a select few other programs that connect to the web, but not all. It looks to me like they're all allowed, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the firewall to work again while allowing me access to this stuff.

Any thoughts as to what may be up?

Well, all my access is resumed as soon as I turn the firewall off...

I've only had this laptop for a week, and it's about as clean as a system can be.

Yea but since he's on a gaming forum, I'd imagine he like to play a wide variety of games as well.

+1 PC ;)
That was dirty. :) However, games were not part of the conversation, and this is the off topic forum you punk.

Hey, CSI was just released for the Mac (the FIRST one). ;)
