Nostalgia-age: The 1990s was the peak of contemporary R&B

I'm a huge classic soul/funk nerd, and while I generally prefer RnB from the 60s-80s to the 90s, there is one 90s album I do love...

Jodeci 'The Show, The After Party, The Hotel'.

This was a really self-indulgent concept album, but I fucking love it. From what I understand, it didn't do that well- I could be wrong. I know that 'Freak-n-You' was a hit, but I think people found the rest of the album a little too dark or weird. I think it's got great elements of funk.

Devante Swing was the man, as evidenced by how watered down and shitty KC and Jojo solo shit was.

Despite knowing the words to nearly every song on that list, I happen to like allot of rnb from the 00's. Do you like any neosoul? That's basically a 00's only genre. It think they will hold up to the 90's pretty well but it's not fair to compare them now.

Sol..

I am Wayne Brady.
member usher's first album?

so goooood.

yall is right. now that i think about it there was some good shit then. But i'm still gonna have to agree with that dude that said it was a joke in the 90s. Shit was freaky on a level of self parody.

You should try to throw all the songs that have been linked to, in the OP. That combined collection of songs is epic. So many memories from all these songs.
Yea, I'll get to that eventually. :D

So I was listening to Pandora when Montell Jordan - Get It On Tonite pops up and it reminds me of this thread. But now I need some help remembering a song and hope you guys could help.

It's by an r&b group I believe composed of mainly white guys. I think it was a one-hit wonder because I don't remember any other songs by them. The video is of them in an apartment building (lots of blue tint to the camera I think) and it keeps switching between different rooms and they keep shaking their heads side to side, really goofy looking. The lyrics went something like "I like it when you blah blah, I like it when you blah blah" but I can't remember too much else. Catchy beat though.
