Not that I'm complaining but...

Why are some 360 games (first party I guess) $50 while others are $60?

MS games = $50 because they dont have to pay for royalties.

Others = $60 because they do pay for royalties?

Am I wrong?

It's just until the PS3 launches, and then they'll lower them by $10 to show that they're really all about the gamer.

So why wasn't it $40 and $50 this gen?

Not at launch, but at least two years ago Sony started getting a lot of titles out at $40.

Supply and Demand. If you really don't like that price, don't buy the game. If enough people don't buy it, the companies will get the message and you will start seeing price drops.

I don't have that much faith in people.

PSX (yes, One) games were in the $60 range when it first came out.

Yep, and they dropped after the N64 came out, 'cause they knew Nintendo couldn't match the lower price while using carts.

X360 games might drop before the PS3 arrives, but only if people are smart enough to not buy them. Even after the PS3 launch, Microsoft may settle for having a large budget lineup (prob $30) instead of lowering the MSRP on new games.

I think the main reason is they are cashing in on the early adopters.

People who buy the system at release are going to buy games. Why not squeeze them as hard as you can? It's not like people are not going to buy the games.

I'm sure they'll drop to normal prices soon.

I'm renting my ass off... Buying any game @ 60 bucks sends the wrong message.
