Capcom is already in a pretty good spot as they still made games with male and female characters that actually look like their genders and not like abominations.
If Sega follows a similar path and lets Persona, Like a Dragon, and even Sonic *link removed* embrace their distinct Japanese roots (in storytelling, game design, or world-building), it could really elevate them.
Man! I'd love to play modern Tatsunoko vs. Capcom without any SP shit Capcom did for SF6 in terms of World Tour. Just pure and old school fighting game like SFIV was.
OP is probably thinking of the combo of Bionic Commando, Lost Planet 2, 3, Dead Rising 2, 3, Dark Void, and DmC which people saw as Capcom 'appealing to the west' even though they were still releasing other, very japanese games at the same time.

Forget fighting game crossovers, I want fun modes in games. Give me Akuma in RE2 made real. RE4 Mercenaries is the perfect place to add new characters.
They're missing out on the Capcom of it all by isolating franchises. Give me Onimusha Mode in Dino Crisis. I don't care if it's broken, the idea is fun.
