Now imagine if such a thing actually works out

This quote was taken from a Extremetech article dating back to last year, but look what a IBM spokeswoman had to say about the potential use of cell-workstations in game development:

The content-creation workstations will be used to by developers interested in reusing digital content found in movies with spin-off video games using the same characters. If a movie such as Spider-Man 3 were to be produced, for example, developers could use a Cell-based workstation to import characters and models directly from the movie. Multimillion-dollar video-game budgets could be reduced as a result, she said.

If you ask me,such a thing would be huge as it would really save developers who produce games based on movies. With such a thing(if its ends to be true), developers won't have to worry about creating assets from scratch cause the assets would be already there.

Wasn't there a rumour going around for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron that Factor 5 was using production models?

Yeah, it would be interesting to see if this type of ritual actually came true next gen. Licenced games may not all be that.. bad, you know.

Yes, apparently Rogue Leader etc. used certain art assets from the original movies, including texture maps etc. Although I doubt they were the same resolution as the movie originals..

How does a CELL workstation matter? Just fucking export it from XSI or Maya!

Exactly, what difference does it make if the model was made on a cell workstation?

ah yes, this question can be answered very easily by using the following picture from spirited away.

Imagine the the heavy lump of coal like substances to be character data, models, information you name it! Now imagine the little black thingies to be cell cores, see how efficiently they are carrying the data to be processed, it because this data was created on cell workstations! Just like the little lumps of coal carrying the non-animated coals are simply magical and non-magical versions of each other? Now imagine Chihiro to be a regular X86 model CPU, she's big, she's slow, and she's inefficient, obviously, she is going to suck at carrying those little lumps of data created on cell workstations.

I hope you found the above post informative.
