Now when I think of it. We need a Punch Out sequel to the DS

Damn, what's holding Nintendo back with the Punch Out franchise? A DS version could work extremley well with the touch screen possibilites. Wireless 1vs1 fights would also be cool. I don't know a use for the 2nd screen. Maybe you can get hints by the manager or something.

They better do this but I'd like a GC punch out.
I'd like to see the sprites it could pump out.
Oh well none of the above will happen.
Hopefully at least reveloution!

I agree with you. Somebody might say that you could use the stylus to "draw" the direction of your punches, but that is a misearable Fight Night rip-off, and that would just cheapen the experience.

Also, have you seen the Punchout minigame in WarioWare DS? It's great. They basically put the NES controller on the button screen.

Touch screen boxing would be awesome - pinpoint certain areas/weakpoints on different characters, touch the manager to throw in the towel to avoid f*cking up your player in a career mode...lots of possibilities.

Get me Space Harriers DS while you're at it!

We need a Punch Out with the Donkey Konga bongos.
Wait! That's perfect! Fuck the DS version, the Bongos are the way to go. If you've yet to play Jungle Beat, then you'll understand how awesome a Punch-Out!!! could be. I like this idea.

Alright, I thought about it and the buttons are limited, but it could still be a blast to play. Punch using left/right pads, dodge with the clap (like Jungle Beat) and upper cut with both at the same time.

All excellent ideas.

Punch Out GCN with bongo support.

Then let Treasure develop Punch Out DS since they did the Hajime no Ippo GBA game.

That's kinda funny, considering that the original "Punch-Out!" had 2 screens. When I saw the thread title I was sure that was what gave you the idea!

Yeah, but assigning the clap to a universal dodge would make the game way too easy. In Punch-Out! you had to see where the punches were coming from and dodge them accordingly.

It may be simple, but I'm sure Nintendo could come up with some challenging situations that would use the bongos intuitively. In my opinion the bongos seem better than the DS for Punch-Out.

Yes plz. I'd love Punch Out for Nintendo DS.

Wade Hixton's Counter Punch does not suitably fill the hole in my heart :(

Sadly the only chance of seeing punch-out is if it’s called,

Super Mario All star Punch-out!

But yeah a new punch out game will rock.

I'm thinking the L/R triggers would make pretty good left/right punch controls.
Do it Nintendo!

dude NO!

what is up with you guys wanting Treasure to make others games so badly? they're so hit-or-miss it's not even funny.

if anything, they should bring back IRD from the dead (you know what i mean), and have them make the game.

as far as conrtrols go, if they do touch screen controls, i think something similar to the controls in that juggling mini game in sawaru will work.

poke-out!

...actually, you know what would be awesome? if ds punchout came with two tiny boxing gloves that you put on your index and middle fingers. finger-boxing. it'd be revolutionary. man.

That could actually work. :O

maybe have little strings around them to tighten them for different finger sizes

This could rock. Touch screen boxing sounds like a very cool idea. I think, maybe, if your opponents had on the fly changing weak points (which would add a hell of alot more strategy, now that I think about it) the second screen could be used by your manager as he tells you exactly what point on your opponent to hit as his weak point changed in real time.

Man, Punch-Out!! w/ bongos is a great idea. I'd love to see it happen. Screw the DS.

How about 1 clap = dodge left and 2 quick claps = dodge right? It could work.

My hands hurt just thinking about it!

Wait, did you really *have* to dodge a certain way in Punch-Out? I don't remember having to look to see where the punches were coming from.

In any case, both the DS and the bongos seem like good excuses to bring Punch-Out back. Maybe even on both systems simultaneously -- a new game on the Cube and a collection on the DS.

you didn;t have to for every punch, but you could always dodge either left or right. i do remember, at least in super punchout, there were some moves you had to dodge a specific direction to avoid.
