Resident Evil Revelations 122k in March.
Great news it seems. Combined with the rumored around 90k for February; maybe there was some true in that the February numbers were affected because of the low (first) shipment.http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/13/n...il/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Resident Evil Revelations 122k in March.
Has cream teased/posted Revelation numbers for March? I've only seen the Vita-tease.Contradict's creamsugar's info, and I'm inclined to trust creamsugar over this.
The great thing about seeing an inevitable decline and/or being desperate is that you don't have deal within the box of reality. Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony can throw things into the wind in hopes that they'll land in place and they don't have to confront their demons. Why not? Where they're standing is a sinking platform.
Has to be a misinterpreted quote. They probably thought "sold to date" = sold in March.
Then, Joystiq f'ed up the wording..Possibility RER sold 122k in March is 1%. This is LTD, so something like 25k in March.
That makes more sense. It's LTD. So, about 30k in March, given the 95k circa first month.
Effectively, creamsugar said RER LTD lower than Kid Icarus, so it does fit.
About the 8 out of 25, it happened last month, and we haven't ever seen clarified if they were talking about multiSKU or single SKU chart.

The only reason those games achieved that kind of sale rate was because of the immense amount of casuals that picked up the system. The Wii was propelled by it gimmicks first and formost. Are you honestly trying to tell me if it launched with no Wii-mote, no Wii-Sports, no Wii-Fit that Mario Kart or any of their franchises would have hit those kinds of numbers? The Wii-Mote might have been the gateway drug but make no mistake it was the only reason they have achieved the success they have. Once that factor died the system itself has been in freefall. Remind me how much the sales increased when SS was released. The blue laser in the Wii U disc drive will be fully capable of reading dual layer BDs. The only reason 25gb was ever mentioned by anyone is that it's probably the most common disc Nintendo will be pressing (let's be honest - how many uncompressed 1080p FMVs do you see Nintendo packing onto their games?)
With that said - it will be more expensive than your standard BD drive (which costs about somewhere between $30-50 to produce, I think) because it will be using a laptop drive form factor as well as a slot loader.
This is crazy talk. Mario Kart Wii has outsold all the Halos combined, and has sold more than every Call of Duty game this generation (even with 1 SKU vs multiple SKUs).
My 10 year old nephew is obsessed with Draw Something right now.
That's fricken awesome if true, and I really good sign for Kid Icarus. Quality titles on the 3DS seem to grow legs in NA.
Wait, but the 140k for Kid Icarus Uprising also doesn't go with the 135k from Nintendo.
Then, Joystiq f'ed up the wording..
February release Resident Evil: Revelations sold around 122,000 in March, the NPD told us. All we know about its February performance is that it was somewhere in the top 25 games.Implying that it did that in March alone, on top of what it did in February.
That makes more sense.
Oh well..too bad for Revelations. Such an awesome game; hope developers don't start with "well that means 3DS owners are not interested in x-kind of games".
Wait, but the 140k for Kid Icarus Uprising also doesn't go with the 135k from Nintendo.
Well, the reality is depressing.... *sigh* I was hoping word of mouth somehow gave it new life.Look above Spiegel's post for the reality XD
And yeah, Joystiq is being such a 3DS fanboy site, at least in wording XD
Are you Implying that we have some other numbers that are incorrect? Now let's have 5 more pages with "wow" for RE:R performance in March.
That depends also. Maybe after Mercenaries 3D, they thought it was "another quick/spinoff"; seeing how Mercenaries was selling better apparently back then (and also seeing how even Ubisoft games jumped on sales after price reductions, maybe some are waiting for price-drops because of that).Well, it is clear that at least 3DS owners were definitely not interested in Resident Evil: Revelations.

good. fuck capcom. RE and SFxT deserve to bomb.
Too bad the wrong RE is the one bombing. :/good. fuck capcom. RE and SFxT deserve to bomb.

The worst game they released is the only one that didn't bomb.
likely :-(Has to be a misinterpreted quote. They probably thought "sold to date" = sold in March.

Consider this, I was expecting even a worse second month for Revelations, something like 15-20k, especially since...well, ORC released this month. XD It's gonna be at 200k at least at the end of the year, or maybe a little more, since 3DS will increase a lot its numbers. However, it's second month still beats first month of Mercenaries 3D. Ah, and it's already better in actual sales than what Mercenaries 3D did just considering Japan and USA, probably it'll be at 500k WW right now ( maybe 600k of shipment ), it needs to do a million to be considered decent. Even Umbrella Chronicles reached it. Hell, Darkside Chronicles reached 600k WW even with 25k in its first month...
EDIT: Aaaaaand a bit of promotion would have been pretty useful at launch, dear Capcom. Just a bit of what you did for Operation Racoon City.
Usually I'd be annoyed if a game I own is ported to another console and made better (HD or whatever), but with Revelations I wouldn't even mind since it deserves to sell much better. 3DS owners are giving 3rd party developers a good reason not to bother with the 3DS.
Capcom, it's time to port REvelations to Vita.
fixed
Nintendo yes they need to have a new platform ASAP which is why the Wii-U is being rushed out.
Microsoft/Sony still have other growing evenue coming in from the video/game marketplaces. Microsoft also makes crazy money with LIVE
They all need to launch their next gen platforms but the pressure is a lot less
Well, it is clear that at least 3DS owners were definitely not interested in Resident Evil: Revelations.
It would have helped if either Capcom or Nintendo put a fraction of ORC's marketing budget behind Revelations. In the US, Capcom was advertising ORC all over the place when Revelations was released. I don't even know if there is a US Revelations ad.
Yeah because porting RE:R to a portable with even less of a user base is a great idea. :\
It's a bummer about RE:R. It really is such a good game, and I'd say the best RE since RE4. Also, Kid Icarus numbers are a bummer too, but expected. That game could pick up with word of mouth though, so hopefully it does.
By the end of March.
3DS
Japan: 5.5m
US: 4.7m
Resident Evil: Revelations
Japan: 252k*
US: 122k
*missing March sales actually...

Hardcore gamer userbase that is starved for games. It's not a bad idea. It can't possibly do much worse than the 3DS version.Yeah because porting RE:R to a portable with even less of a user base is a great idea. :\

What I'm saying is that the gimmick ofDon't patronize me with the "Wii was a fad" post. It's not 2006 anymore.
The Wii had a normal 5-year cycle, and was a dominant force for most of it. By all accounts, Nintendo is a year late with the Wii U (and I'd say they probably didn't want to do another 3DS launch, where their provided software is soft - delaying was the right thing to do).
According to Nintendo's own financial reports: by volume, it has sold more software than the 360 and has had the highest selling software of the generation even on a single SKU.
Providing compelling software that the mass market wants, whether it's Wiimotes with Wii Sports, Kinects with Kinect Sports, advertising your box with the dominant shooter franchise or whatever; software has always been what sells hardware.
I personally consider the Vita to be a great piece of kit, but there's no mystery as to why it's not caught fire.
