NPD Sales Results for April 2016 [Sony, MS, & Nintendo refuse to comment on hardware]

i'm still not sure, i don't know if the US gamer would be that bothered about a game like uncharted to sell that much.

Let's see:

In UK first week of Uncharted 4 was 66% bigger than Uncharted 3, and Uncharted 3 sold in 4 weeks 700,000 unit in USA.

Assuming even first NPD Uncharted 4 will be 66% bigger than Uncharted 3, this will mean 1.16 million for Uncharted 4 in May NPD.

Though, of course:
1) Only because is happen in UK this doesn't mean will happen in USA, at least not 66%, could be more or less than this.
2) Only because in UK the first week was 66% bigger this doesn't mean even the first will be. Uncharted 3 will probabily have a better hold since was close to the holidays.
3) Uncharted 3 first NPD track 4 weeks, while Uncharted 4 will only have 3 weeks.

In short: I hardly see first NPD of Uncharted 4 66% bigger than Uncharted 3, though a 43% increase for be at 1 million doesn't seem unlucky.

Uncharted 3 also sold 138k in bundles, so first month is 838k.

Sony not giving Uncharted numbers is no need to worry. They just don't give a flying fart about sales any more.
unfortunately they haven't found out yet how MAUs are calculated.

Quantum Break price reductions are no sign of weakness, but of attractivity. It's the title retailers try to pull in customers with, like supermarkets do with heavy discounts on fresh milk, beer or pasta.
Stop seeing problems when there are none.

They are waiting on real metrics like the number of bullets fired, and total time spent jumping.

People think Scalebound is going to sell? Lmao, probably going to be the biggest bomb this gen AAA wise by a large margin.

Only chance Scalebound had at being even remotely succesful was being mass bundled in the holidays, it being delayed into Spring 2017 screwed that up.

I think it's going to be the only 90+ metacritic MS gets this gen though

It is probably going to bomb, but hey, many great games have met that same fate thus far...

Apologies in advance - I can't for the life of me find a/the proper thread for this:

This popped up on my PS4 feed. Anyone see that before?

I'm curious to see how Overwatch performs next NPD. It comes out at the end of the month and I get the vibe that game will be really heavily digital in sales. I'm thinking we are gonnna get some "Overwatch bombed" posts, at least until Blizzard gives us the launch numbers

I believe it is gonna perform very well all considering, but as you mentioned i expect an huge digital ratio, so i don't know how is gonna chart in the NPD.
But i think it will be great.

P.S
DON'T GET BANNED AGAIN!!!!!!! ):

Sales will definitely skew to digital, but don't be shocked to see this game do well on PS4.

Yeah I think its going to be a hugely successful launch and IP I'm just not sure how it will be reflected / look on NPD.

And yeah I'm going to do my best to not get banned again. I actually have never been banned in any forum ever other than GAF, and even went a long time without getting one here and then got 2 within a couple months of each other. Luckily this last one was a dumb slip up on my part so nothing too egregious.

So UC4 first week (192k) outsold QB first week (28k) by 6.8x in the UK. O_o

Also outsold Halo 5's first week by >25%.

So if the ratios are the same for NPD that would put UC4 at ~1.1 million for NPD debut.

You have to align the launches. Halo 5 was only tracked for a couple of days. I would bet that U4 reaches 1.5 million. It has like three weeks of tracking.

Slave no. Stop giving them ideas. Their ammo was finally getting low and you went and threw an extra clip at their feet.

You're acting as if Halo 5 sold a meaningful amount of copies in the next month. It didnt. The vast majority of sales for the title during the first two months were at launch. Nor will UC4 sell 1.5 million copies. Thats absurd. We should be looking at somewhere around a 30% bump form its previous entry despite UC3 releasing during the peak holiday season and that would be an incredible accomplishment given the context.

Uncharted 4 is not going to have a 100% increase over its predecessor that was released during the holiday season.

As for the numbers, just for fun, what we can expect lifetime worldwide?

Can 10 million happen? more? :p the beta was an insane succes, who know.

If we are counting digital then I could see it breaking 17 million WW LTD. I think people are seriously underestimating the PC market for this game.

10 million is a lock in my opinion. Game has huge good will from the Betas, it's Blizzard, and it's all ages accessible with a great art style and recognizable Hero's

Yeah I'm thinking 15+ million is very reasonable

As expect, 10 million is too low.

Yeah, was asking because i swear, i just recently know about this game (like a week ago, don't ask me why i know about it just now o_o ) and i wasn't sure about it's success, but after saw the gameplay and some information, i can understand.

In that case i predict 20 million lifetime. :p

Agreed. The fan response it has gotten is just nuts. The amount of fan artwork and cosplay going on before the game has even released is astounding. I just dont see any way its not a massive success for Blizzard.

Ryng the quality and quantity of the fan art for Overwatch is rivaling that of Splatoon before the game has even released and its available on much more prevalent platforms. Just take a gander. That should tell you all you need to know.

Lifetime for Overwatch will be a very long time.

It's hard to put a ceiling, specially on PC.

This is also very true. It has the chance to be an evergreen title on PC.

Oh don't worry, i already get that the game has some similar thing with Splatoon :p and this is also why the game already got me! :D

Games like this need be successful. ^^

I wish Splatoon can't have an huge userbase, if it was on the original Wii with +100 million userbase, really, it could seriusly have sold at CoD level more or less (betwen 20-30 million), just look at games like New Super Mario Bros U which sold almost 30 million and Mario Kart 6 which sold almost 37 million...

I hope NX is a great succes, cause even with only 30 million sold Splatoon 2 should be a +10 million seller.

Good heavens no, a video game bomba in the middle of May for a game that sold sub 150k isn't a doorbuster.

A few days of tracking in NPD are enough for some bigger names to break a million.
1. Halo 5 underperformed in October ( ~930k with bundles )
2. Halo 5 didn't do shit too in November ( ~350k IIRC )

I assume that's physical only? How many should it have sold?

It is the best selling digital game ever for Microsoft:

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/halo-5-reaches-400-million-in-sales-to-become-bigg/1100-6431980/
Yeah, but isn't that a given? Digital is usually reported as a % of physical numbers/overall sales. So if Halo was the biggest MS Xbox One title (which it was) then of course it's also going to be their biggest digital title. I don't think this necessarily means Halo had a drastically (900% lol) larger digital attachment than any other AAA franchise.

I have no doubt Uncharted 4 will be Sonys biggest digital title as well, whatever the sales are.

According to insiders it did indeed have a higher digital attach rate than the industry average but it was still only somewhere around 35%. Even accounting for digital sales, this would place the first two months Halo 5 NPD sales at less than half of Halo 4's in the same period. It's indisputably a massive decline for the franchise especially given that the US is its strongest market.

Uncharted 4 vs. God of War III will be interesting to me. TLOU did not even manage to match that game in first month sales. I think Uncharted 4 might.

It was ~28% digital if you include bundle.

And all considdring, this was only first week, we all know digital sales ratio always decrease after launch. Honestly, when all is well and done, Halo 5 probabily won't have much more than the ~20% avg of last year....

Has cream abandoned us now too? Say it ain't so...
We had numbers for both HW/SW , there's not much for cream to chime in except for LTD and I don't think there's anything exciting on that front.

Next NPD marks cream's return...I hope

But we still missed ReC and 3DS numbers. :(

That's sad, we can't even have the predictions results...

Best selling digital game with also $400 mil. revenue. Sorry, i didn't swallowed their PR bullshit.

Halo 5 underperformed massively! Especially when you compare it vs. Halo 3. Halo 3 was the first ( like Halo 5 ) on new consoles, X360 then. And X360 userbase during Halo 3 launch were smaller vs. Xbone userbase during Halo 5 launch.
