Sell your GC version. It's worth it, believe me.

aztrex said:That makes like no sense. I'm not disputing your analysis, but I'm just saying that its insane. Why is the PSP selling if people aren't buying many games? Are they just buying far fewer games that Nintendo DS gamers? What do you think the reason is for the low attach rate?

PS360 required.

I'd disagree, the rise of PlayStation correlates more to the rise of "cinematic gaming". That's why the PlayStation darlings are franchises like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Resident Evil or Grand Theft Auto, franchises that place just as much emphasis (or more even really) on presentation, narrative and aesthetic as they do game design, interface and mechanics. It's not that "NES style" gaming moved to PlayStation, it's more that PlayStation gave rise to a newer, more popular, more mainstream form of gaming. Sure there were plenty of more traditional games on PlayStation, but not proportionately more than Nintendo or SEGA systems of the day really.Bebpo said:Yet only the stubborn/fanboy ones remained loyal to Nintendo when the industry moved forward in 1995. Most people who grew up on tough as nails NES games moved on to Sony and then to MS systems because that's where the real challenging games were at.
I don't think many are going to bother if the sales consistently fail to even chart once in the top twenty.Saint Gregory said:I would think that developers will just streamline their game engines to make 360 to PS3 ports easier. Even if the software isn't flying off the shelves it's still another pool of gamers to dip into.

Okay, I heard back from NPD. The PSP number released was a typo. The actual number is 290.1k.

Subarushian said:We may be getting off topic, so I'll keep it to this reply. But IMO the strength of the industry is based on the quality of the games being produced by developers, not monthly sales of systems. Sales of hardware is nice, but games are still the crucial element. There are tons of great games coming out on other platforms than the Wii.
I look at the games on the Wii and (totally IMO) I see them as a step back in advancing the art, particularly the Wii titles at the top of the charts.
Though I guess its from looking at the industry from the perspective of a gamer, not a stock broker.

If every game did an Okami, there wouldn't be an industry to crash at all.Subarushian said:We may be getting off topic, so I'll keep it to this reply. US NPD + Japan numbers in this post plus Canada NPD. US NPD was June 3 to July 7 so the MC weeks used are June 4 to July 8.Stumpokapow said:Zuh?
WII NPD: 381,800
Wii MC week 1: 69,748
Wii MC week 2: 64,529
Wii MC week 3: 65,521
Wii MC week 4: 65,582
(Assuming you count week 5, Wii MC week 5: 73,919)
MC+NPD total: 647,180 (721,099)
So I figured you must have used Canada...
Wii NPD Canada: 53,000
700,180 (774,099)
So where are your numbers combing from?
