If Fifa and Madden don't come out on the WiiU then holy Dreamcast repeat.

Pretty much except much worse on the software side. Dreamcast failed but games were no issue during it's lifespan from what I could recall. Some of my favorite games of all time were on that system.

Wow. I noticed this about FIFA the other day as well. I never thought EA may just to a flat out complete pull from Nintendo platforms, but I guess it may be happening.
If I recall the sports games are using the frostbite engine, which Dice said the Wii U doesn't support

They didn't bail on a dying Dreamcast; they didn't even show up at all!
That's just called bailing in advance.
Nintendo didn't give EA the courtesy of pointing out that their ship was sinking.
Sega was straight up about that and everything.

Because of arrogance. They thought a convoluted mini-game collection and a New Super Mario bros. Wii clone (as much as I love it, there's no denying that it bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor) would be enough to entice consumers. At the hefty price of $349.99, and in a world where families are spending what little money they earn on iOS devices, not a chance in hell. The people who think the PS4 and Xbox 720 are going to fly off the shelves in spite of this are also delusional.

I'm starting to think game delays had something to do with Nintendo's plans. They almost definitely originally intended Pikmin 3 to be out by now, if not also Wonderful 101 and maybe even Wii Fit U.

I also think it's an advertising problem. I haven't seen nearly as much advertising for the Wii U as I did for the Wii in 2006 and early 2007. Has ANYONE asked Nintendo about that in interviews? Do they really think Nintendo Direct is being watched by anyone other than core gamers?

All Nintendo can do is ride out the Wii U for three more years trying to at least break even, then launch the hybrid. A handheld powerful enough to output maybe current Wii U level graphics or higher that plugs into a base or something that gives it a boost to allow the same visuals but in HD on the big screen. Or something like that. Treat it like PC graphics levels: medium on the go, extreme when plugged in.

Imagine the Wii U's situation if all of 3DS's games were coming out for it instead. I've been playing Y's: The Oath in Felghana on Steam recently. It looks pretty damn good at 1080p on my big screen, and that's just an up-rezzed PSP game. With the appropriate boost to IQ, something like Luigi's Mansion would be beautiful on the big screen.

Well I think the genuienly fucked up. If Nintendo thought this thing would sell like expected maybe they thought they had something. Company can fuck up without being arrogant.

Bet Madden will come to WiiU, just not Madden 25. The press release was just for the full featured Maddens. WiiU will get a cheap port of madden 12.5 or something probably.
Kinda funny. Madden 25 already looks like madden 13.5.

Ubi Soft and licensed LEGO and Marvel/Warner games are basically left then. And I wonder if Ubi Soft is having second thoughts about putting time in to bring over Sleeping Dogs and Assassins Creed at this point. Hell they delayed Rayman for a reason.

genuinely curious as to how 2k is still charting. did it get a price drop recently? it is a solid game, but I figured it would have fizzed out by now

I really don't think they believed it'll fly off shelves themselves.
Really? Then what's with all of these "PS4 is going to destroy the Wii U' posts I see here often? Software sells hardware, and although the Wii U may be floundering right now, I don't expect the competition to do much better. Times have changed, and so has the economy. Price matters, and I thought Nintendo of all companies would be the first to acknowledge this. Instead, they designed their new system around a controller that costs 150 dollars to replace. What in the fuck were they thinking?

Nintendo . . . Do this.

They aren't going to halfass it on 3ds. That's their core main system. The way they announced it made it very clear its one game and on both platforms. Not two different games.

There was a post announcement interview where Sakurai and Iwata specifically talked about both versions being different and the 3DS one having a single player/co-op focus more fitting for a portable, while the console one would be a traditional Smash.

That was before any development had started though, so things might have changed, but initially they weren't meant to be the same.

Nintendo's new press release only mentions the Wii U version of Smash for E3, nothing about the 3DS one:
in June in Los Angeles, Nintendo expects to show attendees upcoming Wii U games from the Mario Kart™, Super Mario Bros.™ and Super Smash Bros.™ franchises.

So, they might still be separate projects.

The first six months of the Dreamcast were clearly far better than the WiiU.

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
Assuming that the 360 is at 260 and PS3 around 250 (going by portions of that chart, that leaves around 127k to be split between the Wii and WiiU (their portion combined is one fourth.

So unless my math is wrong:

Around 127k for Wii and WiiU combined.

What possible reason is there not to label the console chart?

Look how close the divisions are. We know that X360 is out front, we know that Wii & WiiU aren't anywhere near that. So, we can conclude that PS3 & 360 are close and Wii & Wii U are the small divisions but very similar.

Easier to let us conclude than to give stuff away and open yourself to NPD Ninjas.
