Is that an assumption?
It is. Nintendo failing to share hardware data usually occurs when YOY targets are not met. Hopefully leaks will prove me wrong, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Is that an assumption?
Did people really expect Lego to chart when it came out on the 18th?! Or Monster Hunter which was released on the 19th?! Really?
Wii U owners have a ton of great games to look forward to from Nintendo and its third-party partners, including Game & Wario on June 23, Pikmin 3 on Aug. 4, Disney's Planes from Disney Interactive on Aug. 6 and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® Blacklist from Ubisoft® on Aug. 20. At the upcoming E3 trade show in June in Los Angeles, Nintendo expects to show attendees upcoming Wii U games from the Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros. and Super Smash Bros. franchises.
Why the hell are people acting surprised that Wii U only games didn't chart?
Luigi came out on the 24th.
Bioshock on the 26th.
Walking Dead and Gears of War on the 19th.
My estimates for March of last year was 789,444. If even somewhat accurate, it would put this months sales ~537,000. If true, that leaves ~277,000 for DS+PS3+Wii+WiiU+Vita(+PSP). I find that hard to believe so my number must be off (I'll consult jvm).
No, GOW outsold GOW.
Stop trying to misinform people.

Think Tomb Raider was DD for PC only in the US.I thought Gears and God would chart lower. I wonder why TR sales only consider the console versions.
Wow Nintendo. They mention a total of 4 games coming out between now and September.
Also: Nintendo press only mentions Nintendo published games, so it isn't too damning that it doesn't mention Monster Hunter.
Mileena not now.

According to NPD analyst Liam Callahan, "March 2013 saw deep declines of 32% in dollar spending for dedicated video game hardware, with stronger declines for portable hardware than for consoles. However, sales for the Nintendo 3DS grew 9% over last March. In March 2013, the Xbox 360 had the highest hardware unit sales for the 20th month in a row.
3DS hardware: ~203k (estimated as 189k last month)
Luigi came out on the 24th.
Bioshock on the 26th.
Walking Dead and Gears of War on the 19th.
That is what Iwata must have said for the entirety of the Wii U's R&D period.Nintendo: Don't mention the hardware!
Uh, games do that all the time? When did Bioshock Infinite come out?
And to kill your point completely:
Lego Star Wars: Clone Wars III -> Released March 22, 2011.
March NPD?
1. Mortal Kombat 2011 (PS3, 360)** Warner Bros. Interactive
2. Portal 2 (360, PS3, PC) Electronic Arts
3. Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (Wii, NDS, 360, 3DS, PS3, PC) LucasArts
4. Call of Duty: Black Ops (360, PS3, NDS, Wii, PC)** Activision Blizzard
5. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters (360, PS3, Wii)** Electronic Arts
Infinite came out on the 26th. The real argument here is that those 2 games are a lot smaller than many of the other releases in March.
The system was clearly not ready for prime time. Even more shocking given the dearth of Wii releases for the past two years while Nintendo lavished love and attention upon the 3DS. The Wii U release calendar for the first 9 months of this year is nothing short of catastrophically awful.Great for Infinite and Luigi. Surprised how well Luigi is doing!
Also, lol @ Nintendo's press release regarding Wii U. Man, the next games from them are Game & Wario on June 23, then Pikmin August 4?! That's horrible management. What is there even to translate in G&W? Purposely delaying so that the rear end of the year is more packed?

But is it really an argument when
1. Almost every other game is multiplatform or from a large established franchise in the west
2. On consoles with orders of magnitude more users
I'm saying even if the Wii U sold "well" at cracked 100k, I wouldn't expect them to be in the Top 10
I like how the Nintendo PR basically says 'Please look forward to E3' as a + for Wii U owners. lol.

Isn't that 9% over March 2012 and not February 2013?

Grew 9% over last March
3DS Hardware for this month was: 245k.
Their WiiU SW situation has been disastrous. Some of these games were long promised.
If their big holiday games are that Luigi DLC and W101 then I smell trouble. They will likely show a new Zelda at E3 but that's not enough to gather enthusiasm for the future of SW on WiiU.

You don't even have to go back that far... Lego Batman 2 charted higher more recently.

I wonder what ever happened to W101. I thought it was near completion or at least it felt that way when I played it last year. Surprised they didn't mention it in their presser.
