Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

Manage to preorder a EVGA FTW before the website went to shit. Has Evga seen this much traffic before? I bought my 980 at midnight without issue. Wondering if 1080 is the most popular GPU from Nvidia or if this is pretty normal for GPU launch.

It must have been between website shits. It was bad before FTW went up, and it's still borked now. I can't even get the auto notify to work.

feels like EVGA SC is the only reasonably priced card at the moment
good cooling, can OC and not throttle

Seems like it from Jayz video. Glad I didn't try to rush for a Founder's Edition. Looks like the EVGA SC version is straight up better for less money.

honestly, 300-350 seeing as the 1070 supposedly out performs it

Depends on where you live; and the 1070 won't be available for quite some time.

You can still sell a 980ti for a good price, let's say in the 400/500 range. Especially so in Europe.

I've had a lot of offers for 550 here. But I'm keeping my SLI.

The only reasonable upgrade would be selling both and buying two 1070 without adding a cent (I doubt though in real game-use that would really qualify as an upgrade).

Buying two 1080 would mean paying a lot more. I'll just wait for the new Titan/ti version.

Same. No other models available.

Glad I didn't take the day off to get one, lol

Ditto. Was kind of bummed when they didn't let you reserve one from their website. So glad I didn't plan on taking the tip down, just to see they were all gone.

Guess I"ll wait for June 10th.

Or see when someone returns one so I can get it for a discount. That's how I got my GTX 980 Ti Classified for $530.

2 weeks =/= quite some time. It comes out June 10th, at least the founders. I have seen ti's in my area start at 400 w/ OBO

It's going to be sold out everywhere just like the 1080. And it's going to be FE only at least for the first two weeks.

400 for a 980ti in the U.S. is a good price for both seller and buyer, I suppose.

So that SC has one 8 pin and aftermarket cooler. He got 2100MHZ and was around 76C under stock fan profile. He moved it up to 60% manually which isnt audible and the card ran at 67C. Running Doom maxed at 4K above 60FPS. Yeah I think we are going to see some major shit once all these custom cooled cards are out.

The Classified or Strix could go up to 2200.

Gigabyte's Windforce cooler is supposed to be pretty great, right?

I think I might just order that one right now.

Edit: Nope, screw that. It only had a single 8-pin. :(

Have any of the overclocked models other than the ones from EVGA gone up for pre-order in the US yet?

It's crazy how overclockers in the UK has preorders up for just about every model and brand.

So, I decided against getting a 970 as a loaner card and returning it for when the AIB's release. Im just gonna wait.

Not only is the return time only 7 days and not 15, but NCIX doesnt even have the FE's in stock right now,(it's in stock but at their warehouse in British Columbia) which means that most likely even if the AIB's release on the 10th they most likely wouldnt get stock until a few days later, making the whole loaner card idea not work even if the return time was 15 days.

That means another 2+ weeks of having a paperweight gsync 1440P monitor and a Vive that can only play 3 applications without slowdown. Feels bad man.

Still waiting for something from Asus or MSI. Hopefully something with better power delivery.

The EVGA is good if size is an issue, but Asus/MSI generally have quieter, better performing coolers. The main downside is their coolers are rather wide with with their protruding heat pipes.

Scan updated the FTW card to a 17th June release
That's in line with the date Caseking has shown me from the getgo.
They are still taking pre-orders too. No way they will be able to cope with the demand imo

On the other hand they still have FEs in stock, so maybe my perception of the demand is just a bit tainted due to this thread haha.

According to the dimensions on Overclockers UK, the Strix 1080 is quite a bit shorter than the Strix 980 Ti (like ~4 inches). That's good to see.

Fuck it, put in an order on the EVGA FTW now.

Hopefully reviews of most cards should pop up soon so I can change my mind if needed.

The Microcenter near my home sold out in 2 minutes this morning. They only had 20 and there were about 50 people + waiting on line, plus a ton more disappointed, like me, who went in later in the day.

This thing is going to be sold out for a while.

When will we be able to realistically pick one up?
