Will the ROG Strix or the EVGA FTW fit into a mid tower case pretty easily? I cannot decided whether I want to get a new full tower or drop down to a mid.
No problem, as long as you case accept long form factor cards. I have a mid-tower case with a 970 Stix and have no room issues at all,

So yes, we gained a nice 1302 points with this fairly modest tweak. We do have to say that the overclocks with pascal yield not a lot of extra performance compared to the GXT 900 series. Hence GTX 980 and GTX 980 Ti cards will remain popular for a while. Now obviously the same applies for gaming. Below a number of results based on the overclock as explained and described above.
http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/geforce-gtx-1080-overclocking-guide-with-afterburner-4-3,3.html
From these tests...
A good overclocked 980Ti (~1500 boost) vs a good overclocked 1080 (~2050 boost), the 1080 will only be 15% faster in 3DMark graphics (21K vs 24K)
An average overclocked 980Ti (~1450 boost) vs (~1950 boost), the 1080 will be only be 10% faster in 3DMark graphics (20K vs 22K)
Phew feels good with my 980Ti still.
Btw it seems Pascal's secret is its much higher boost clocks....which mean if AMD gets a good architecture going, things can get interesting..
It all sounds a bit disappointing - effectively the only reason the 1080 is faster is because of the higher boost.
..then you remember it's half the die area of the 980ti,Mao it's pretty good really. If only nvidia had priced it like a 980 everyone would be a lot happier. Oh well.
Definitely seems like the 1070 is a good option. If it can overclock to 10-15% below a 1080 then it should perform on par with a 980ti, but should be cheaper, have more memory, and has a few more features like the VR multiport rendering etc.

I'm not even sure you'd be able to play any games with this!?
So I can't answer the question lol
Yep. Gonna hold off for a 1070 for the time I think.

Word is mid June (17th)Welp, just bought the SC version of the card for $649. wow.
Anyone know when it ships?
Has anybody spotted one of these cards for less than 700€?
Yeah, thats why people call them Scam. OCUK like to hike prices when they are the only place with stock, but they won't screw you over like that and their CS is generally excellent.
Yes. OCUK have one for less than that. Comes it at about 690. but then you have postage of course.
I've never had a problem with them in the past but fuck those theiving cunts. I've had to place an order with Overclockers.
Am I stupid for thinking the way to go for VR is to get the ASUS Strix since it has two HDMI ports (1 for TV for on-lookers and 1 for the VR Headset)? Or the displayport thing make it not an issue? I am trying to do the trade off between EVGA, MSI, and ASUS. I just got burned so bad by horrible Gigabyte customer support, where i kept getting back broken video cards from them for 6 months, which has me leaning toward EVGA.
Does EVGA website ship overseas?
Nope.
Does EVGA website ship overseas?
I see. So best wait for Amazon?
The jury's still out on what the better cards with additional power connectors will clock at though. The FE seems to be power limited.
Imo if cards like the FTW can hit around 2.3 GHz it'd be a solid upgrade over an overclocked 980 Ti.
Overclocked cards are going to cost a small fortune on Aus. Goddamnit.
Man I need to buy a new case, my 770 EVGA barely fits as is.
Why, are the 10xx cards bigger?Man I need to buy a new case, my 770 EVGA barely fits as is.

So which 1080 will have the most QUIET fan?
Are the strix really 3 slots wide?
Importing is still viable. Despite the crappy value of the AUD, even a USD$699 FE would just come in under the $1k threshold, inclusive of shipping, and EVGA cards in particular have a global warranty.
Sweet. I guess I'm just always worried with high end hardware. If it's a dud, I don't want to be shipping it back to the US.
I'm still waiting for benchy results, but a very high boost clock 1080 (like that Strix) is appealing to me even with my 980 Ti OC.
I had to finish checking out in Microsoft Edge.I wish EVGA would take unlimited preorders. I'd like to just get on the list. It's sitting in my cart, but obviously it won't let me finish checking out.
Are the strix really 3 slots wide?
No way to know this until some testing will be done.
Not really:

But putting it too close to another card will lead to cooling issues.
Yup, the following 3 cards have gained my interest - The Asus Strix, the EVGA FTW and the Inno3D iChill Air Boss X4.
The Asus Strix has a Core Clock of 1784MHz, a Boost Clock of 1936MHz, memory clocked at 10000MHz and 1 x 8 pin power connector.
The EVGA FTW has a Core Clock of 1733MHz, a Boost Clock of 1873MHz, memory clocked at 10010Mhz and 2 x 8 pin power connectors.
The Inno3D card has a Core Clock of 1759MHz, a Boost Clock of 1898MHz, memory clocked at 10400MHz, the highest I've seen with these cards so far, and 1 x 8 pin and 1 x 6 pin power connectors...and 4 great big fuck off fans on it lol
I'm leaning towards getting the Inno3D card at this early stage, just going by the clock speeds of the memory, but will wait for reviews before I make my final decision. I'm not going to be able to afford it until August so I've got plenty of time to make my mind up.

Anyone seen a preorder page for Asus? Evga preorder sitting in the cart teasing me, but I really want to buy the Asus card.
