Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

With the relatively even (poor) overclocking, is anyone considering a basic low-end card to save money, on the basis they'll perform roughly the same?
I've never cared for overlooking anything so I just got the FTW and will live with that, whatever the performance there might be.

I'm hearing rumours of further delays to the custom cards because of manufacturing issues. Anyone have anything concrete? Maybe they just haven't sold enough Founder's editions yet?

I heard the EVGA customs will be shipping out between June 1st and 14th. ASUS STRIX is due on June 4th. Seems like the vendors who have announced dates are on track.

Strix June 4:th has only ever been posted on the blog. Nothing else official iirc. Local retailer has 9th of June as date, another retailer 18:th.

Has there been any other info?

I really should have ordered an FTW on Amazon when I had the chance, just as a contingency. I considered doing so but then thought, "If orders are being taken for EVGA's non-ref cards, surely the others can't be far behind." D'oh.

Yes. I'm waiting for people to get their hands on some of the fancier cards just to confirm it all, but if it turns out this way, I'll definitely save myself the $$$ since I'll be putting the card into a custom loop. For most people, though, there are good reasons to look at the custom cards just to get the better/quieter coolers. Plus, something like the Classy or the Strix will give them a hefty OC out of the box with acceptable noise levels.

Fuuuuuuuuck sake. :(

I sniped a FE card last night but my heart wanted the FTW, I'm 3rd in the queue with Aria.co.uk so didn't want to give it up.

Any reason to believe the clocks on the FTW card would be above the SC? Or is the price difference just for the custom PCB + waterblock capabilities?

Currently I don't think so. Just watched a video of gamers nexus trying to overclock an MSI 1080Z and getting almost nowhere (it was live on the floor at computex but still). Maybe it's a voltage limitation causing instability at high clocks, but there must be a reason nvidia is locking it down. If we don't see custom bios stuff unlocking voltage soon I'm not sure we'll get 970/980ti levels of OC on pascal..

Looks like I'm out of the 1080 rat race

Managed to snag a 980 ti from this sale.

To be honest I'm happy with a quieter card, OC'ed for me and with good customer services.

So has anyone preordered a Gigabyte G1 Gaming? With all this talk of voltage limits I'm now thinking a single 8-pin connector might be adequate after all. Price on Amazon is looking attractive.

Edit: sod it, I just have. Now I can get on with my life without thinking about graphics cards...

Edit 2: And now cancelled, will wait for reviews
the obsessing over GPUs carries on

How much are you guys pre-ordering these things for in the US? I can only even find 2 non-founders edition cards in Canada, both EVGA, the FTW and the SC. The FTW is $885 (~$677 USD,) and the SC is $855 (~$654 USD.)

I'd sell it. If you don't, someone else will. Or find someone on GAF that wants it if you're really nice.

I like the thought of being nice. I'm actually pretty sure this isn't the place to do this and I'm supposed to go to the B/S/T thread but anyone just PM me and I'll change the shipping address (to USA) and sell it at cost.

I paid $679 for the EVGA FTW, so those prices are right (at least based on exchange rate).

Cancelled my order for the EVGA SC 1080 and went for the inno3D iChill x3 but now I am tempted to go for the ASUS Strix from amazon!

What to do?

Looks like EVGA updated their FTW dimensions. The height is 4.3in whereas before they listed as being over 5in. I was getting a bit worried that this card might be too big.

Kind of disappointing that there's no free game for the 1080 :/

I can see a free game in the fall. Depending on the vendor, you may get a free game from them during that time. I remember getting a nvidia promo game 3-4 months after the purchase of my 970 at launch.
