Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

Yes, pleasantly surprised by evgas pricing. Commence eating crow.

Thinking an EVGA 1070 ftw if it has 2x 8 pins and the beefier pcb will be an excellent value.

Crow you say?

Why not? FE is already going at $50 more than the Ti.

I agree with him completely. Nvidia said the Founders Edition is the middle of the pricing structure. Slap on a great cooler, extra power port, and a heavy OC and these things will be well into the 700s.

Idiot tax to me is paying 599 for a card like the Galax. MSRP is 599 and 699. It's the best card in the market, without competition. How else should it be priced. A business exists to make money.

EVGA 1080 FTW up for pre order on Scan UK for £597.90. Kinda amusing that it's £20 cheaper than the FE cards.

Waiting on the 1070s though, but this gives me hope the pricing won't be ridiculous.

1080 Hybrid, not looking too hot imo :p

What are the estimates on cards like this costing?

Fucking geez! £649 for the custom MSI gaming x? £649?!?!?!?! Why the fuck do we get screwed so hard in the uk on card prices?

Pisses me off.

Also the MSI is only using an 8pin and a 6pin.

MSI Gaming X is the most expensive card up for pre-order right now. Costs at minimum 8100SEK in Sweden (That's £666). So it's not the UK price.

Prices for any electronics in the UK are very rarely a straight $ to £ conversion +VAT, they always add more on just because

North of 750$ for sure.

Guess I kind of expected that. I will just have to determine if I buy a card and add a cooler or buy one already kitted. Made a world of difference for my 390 and I for sure want to do the same for my next card.

Got a Palit Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition for 789€.

Should be here on Monday.

Hype, but holy shit is this thing expensive.

I keep getting stuck at EVGA's checkout shipping page :(

Same I just gave up.

Keep trying. I literally just got mine in. After you get passed the cart, it works smoothly.

The only thing that sucks is I wanted to order 2, but the site is so broke it wouldn't let me change the quantity. Will hang with 1 for now.

Yeah, everything moved lightning fast once you're past the initial bottleneck. I've been waiting on information from a guy at work, so I've had nothing to do, it took roughly 30 minutes of refreshing for it to hit. Which is probably a new record for me (the 20th anniversary PS4 was close though :D )

My Amazon Zotac FE will be here tomorrow. I was a little worried about Zotac brand until I checked on my 960 brand, and its a Zotac!, lol. I probably sorted by cheapest 960 when ordering from Amazon.

Is there any info on where you can put in EVGA preorders in the US? I haven't been able to get to their page now, after their site was loading without issue earlier lol.

I would almost have to say the 20th Anniversary PS4 was easier for me, I think.

Was literally trying for about an hour, more so because I wanted the quantity to change but whatever, I'll just pick up the second one at a later date, and hopefully a lower price.

Zotac is pretty solid despite they're reputation as being the "cheap" brand. They're l like the Vizio of the graphics card world IMO.

Man I really don't understand the reasoning behind MSI giving one of its highest clocked cards (Seahawk) only one 8 pin connector. While all the rest except the base models have at least an 8 and a 6. :(

Well, the possible reasoning is that Sea Hawk is for those who would like a factory OC card which they won't overclock any further while Gaming X is for those who would like to OC the card above it's factory clocks. Or I dunno.

Thing is though, when I purchased my 980 (when it first came out) I literally paid like £450 or something for it and that was the MSI gaming twin frozer card.

I don't know why these are dropping at £600+ I mean, if it was £500 I could probably justify it but not sure I feel comfortable paying £600, I may wait for the TI and see what kind of performance that brings so if I am spending in excess of £600 I can at least say it's an enormous jump over my 980 know what I mean?

I want the 1080 bad don't get me wrong but it is just so damn expensive over in the UK.

Because they're pricing it like a 980ti even though technically it should be a 980 replacement. Maybe when the 1080ti comes out the 1080 will drop to current 980 prices, or maybe nvidia will just make everything more expensive

I now have no GPU so it is tempting to grab a 1080 - and given the lack of variety in overclocking I'd probably go for a more standard custom one for about £580-600. But that is more than twice what I paid for my 970 so I really should hold on for news on 1070 pricing

Hey guys, are non-reference cards up for preoder in the U.S. yet?

Also, does anyone know any U.S. retailers that still have the FE in stock?

Lol at the people complaining about the designs of the custom coolers and claiming the obvious superiority of the FE due to the aesthetics. I agree the FE looks pretty badass, but comments I'm seeing are raging against EVGA/Asus for letting them down with these "ugly" card.

I guess Nvidia was targeting the people with windows on their machine. Which I guess is probably a market that exists, like buying an underpowered sports car; though even that has merit if you're just looking for a shiny toy. So maybe these are people who only play competitive mobas, they don't need a badass card, they just need to roll in and look badass.

I actually like them a lot, I have a 7 years old GTX260+ from them that is still serving in a friend's PC, solid stuff. Might consider getting an 1080 from them if the price is right.

The custom cards seem to targeting the LED backlit table + green tribal tattoo mouse crew.

The opposite of what I´m going for.

FE FTW.

Wasn't trying to talk down to anyone, I just think it's absurd that people are ignoring performance numbers in favor of looks on a product that is defined and made valuable almost exclusively by its performance. It's like complaining the newest, fastest CPU is irrelevant because they used the wrong color grey.
