It's going to be at least 6 months before the MSI Lightning edition comes out right?
*sigh*
Give you a good 3 months to enjoy it before the 1080ti comes out.

Dumb questions, but this is one hell of a megathread:
- Everyone's all over preordering the 1080, but can the 1070 be preordered? Is a FE being made of that card? I waaaaaant it.

If these cards are all 6", including the FE, then I'm in the same boat as you. I already ordered 1x EVGA FTW.FUUUUUUUUU! Looks like 1080 won't fit unless I buy a new case.
In the case of my car (135i) the chip gives you 55hp, which is roughly a 15% performance increase for 3% of the initial cost of the car. Was it worth it? I mean, I bought the sports coupe for a reason, I didn't NEED the extra power, but if I wasn't concerned with small performance differences I wouldn't have been in the market for that car in the first place.
Meanwhile, I'm going to blame you for egging me on if I wind up modding my BMW.![]()
I'm confused. Do you mean the vertical height of the card, because the prodigy has lots of vertical space. The only place I can imagine it being limited is the card thickness in case it hits the side panel, but there is no way the card is 6" deep
If someone sees more customs go up for sale in US please post ;_;
Will these fit in an R4 case?
The height is the problem. H100i Fans take up space.
This is not my setup but it's very similar

more than 25 at this point. There's a table here (page is German but the table is universal).Dumb questions, but this is one hell of a megathread:
- Have other non-FE versions been announced yet? (Edit: Never mind, I see ASUS)
There will be a FE of 1070, and just like with 1080 there will probably be a few weeks before non-FEs are released.- Everyone's all over preordering the 1080, but can the 1070 be preordered? Is a FE being made of that card? I waaaaaant it.
I saw that the first batch of custom cards sold out in a rapid pace. The Asus Strix was gone, so I quickly ordered a MSI Gaming X card without checking any technical details, lol.. (Have a MSI 970 Gaming card now, it's good)

If this date is for real it's coming sooner than I expected..
Aftermarket coolers are a good thing as evidenced by the 47c of that second GPU, but the Founders Edition blower-style cooler is still able to get past 2GHz just fine. Both cards had their fans at max speed in this example.
its not boosting any higher relative to base clocks than boost 2.0 tho. im pretty sure the asus isnt hitting 83c or a power limit in that bench.
Edit - its actually boosting far less than maxwell 2 was. the 980ti strix sustains 1380 with an 1190 base clock. the 1080 strix sustains 1898 with a 1759 base clock
Yes they will. The R4 is very roomy.
Teaser - GTX 1080's Tested in SLI
That just means that the base clock is relatively higher and there's less variation. 1898 is hardly a bad result when compared to 1380 in any case so I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
Agreed. I have an R4 and can't imagine this not fitting in it.
it looking like nvidia built up a lot of false ideas of this cards oc potential. amd did the same shit with the furyx

The Fury X is a card sold as clocking at 1050 Mhz which overclocks to ~1.150 Mhz at best. That's 9.5%.it looking like nvidia built up a lot of false ideas of this cards oc potential. amd did the same shit with the furyx
Maybe I've paid attention to too many, because I don't think it's confusing or chaoticI've never really paid attention to video card launches before, but are they always this confusing and chaotic?

Bios mods should alleviate the boost throttling we are seeing in the aftermarket cards. I wouldn't worry about it too much if you aren't averse to bios modding.
Have we seen any confirmation on dual bios cards yet?

EVGA's FTW has 2 and the Classified 3.
EVGA FTW got dual bios.
So that Strix is looking to be one of the best 1080 value cards yeah? Base clock seems higher, way lower price at $620/640 respectively (for factory overclocked) than the EVGA ones.
Right, almost forgot. I haven't touched BIOS modding before, so that will also be interesting.EVGA's FTW has 2 and the Classified 3.

The 1080 is advertised as a card with a base clock of 1607 MHz and boost clock of 1733 MHz, and with decent cooling people seem to have no issues running it at ~2000 MHz in many workloads -- and we haven't even seen the capabilities of the partner cards yet. That's ~25% over the base clock and ~15% over the boost clock.
I don't think the situation is quite the same.
Maybe I've paid attention to too many, because I don't think it's confusing or chaotic. What's confusing you?
No way, I remember feeling totally on top of the 200 series and 700 series launches and this is a different level IMO.I've never really paid attention to video card launches before, but are they always this confusing and chaotic?
Well I'm not surprised that you have, but it isTMaybe I've paid attention to too many, because I don't think it's confusing or chaotic. What's confusing you?
I mean you have "third-party" releases of the FE from just about every manufacturer which general consumers realllllly may not understand is the OEM board, currently listed on Amazon at bonkers prices: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...field-keywords=GTX+1080+&rh=i:aps,k:GTX+1080+I'm not gonna lie, I like to consider myself an informed and rational consumer, and I cannot figure out for the fucking life of me when the non-reference cards are meant to be available (i.e. on store shelves), if any can be preordered outside of the UK, or when any of the cards announced ill be shipping (let alone all the different offerings).
Is this all so confusing by design to get people to just buy the FE?
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 will be available worldwide from 27th May, 2016.
Expect the ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 to be available starting June 4.
nvidia showed a ref card running at 2.1 ghz at 64c.
EVGA's FTW has 2 and the Classified 3.
We're starting to test beta 4 with Hilbert and MSI now and hope to release it in a couple of days. Here is one more new cool feature special for 1070/1080 card owners. Now voltage/frequency curve editor allows you to do the following:
- You may press <L> after selecting any point on the curve with mouse cursor to completely disable GPU dynamic clock frequency/voltage adjustment and lock the core clock frequency and voltage to values defined by the target point. This feature allows you to test graphics card stability independently for each voltage/frequency point of the curve using real 3D applications or any stress test of your choice. In addition to stability testing usage scenario, MSI Afterburner allows you to save a curve with locked point setting to a profile, so you may easily switch between dynamic clock/voltage management and fixed clock/voltage settings in realtime (e.g. to achieve the maximum performance during benchmarking)
Stay tuned.
nvidia showed a ref card running at 2.1 ghz at 64c.
a ref edition will never be hitting anything close 2.1 ghz regardless of fan setting

Strange - the strix is more expensive than the EVGA FTW on overclockers.
Strange - the strix is more expensive than the EVGA FTW on overclockers.
Also, in the spec for the strix, they have this
Any idea what this means? Does it have some kind of adapter in the box to split the HDMI? specs only show one hdmi socket on the card
Reference edition should run just fine on 2GHz with fan @100% with thermal limit being upped. 100% fan on reference is LOUD though.
yeah for about 60 seconds
