SweClockers posted their test (in Swedish). They mention prices being 3595 SEK (ASUS Strix) and 5249 SEK. For comparison, 3595 SEK is about what the current ASUS 770 DirectCU II 4GB costs.
nothing free in this world !
i would however give you a nice gaf discount![]()
I'm interested to know the power wattage difference between the 970 and the 8800GT that i already have. Also how about the performance difference?
Don't ask why i have this card in a 4670 PC, i just do![]()
Yea... my sweet spot for GPUs is $200-250. You get the best price/performance ratio at this range.$550? Oh Nvidia, never change.

Third times the charm. One more time asking
Now with all the information we've got (do we have good benchmarks?) and prices, I'll again pose the question, which card would be best to go with?
I was originally looking at the 980 but the 970 has seemingly come out with very surprisingly good performance for its value. I was even thinking of looking at the 780Ti if it came down in price, but from some charts I've seen that really doesn't seem to be a good option.
So yeah, coming from the 560Ti, which card would be best to go with? (or I suppose, what would justify the extra $250 for the 980?) Again, I'm not thinking of SLI and I'd probably be running most games at 1080p max.
Thanks!
EDIT: Oh, and where's the best place to buy these things anyway? Newegg? Or are there better suppliers?
Curious, any idea of an exact release date for these cards?
If you have a stock clocked 4670K, shame on you.;P
Thank you so much for your input! The 970 seems like a good bet with your requirements. It's going to smoke every game at 1080p. The 980 isn't really worth it unless you've got money to blow. I buy most things from Amazon these days. They have amazing customer service.
i'd be interested in that if it wasn't for the fact import charges would probably blast any savings i'd be making because of the exchange ratesome german shops have a asus 780ti listed for 429 since some days :>
SSJ2 to SSJ4.
Honestly the 980 is a decent upgrade, but I'm looking at that 970, that one is a killer at that price.
Some 980 custom cards are out in Oct, 970 customs and 980 reference today/tomorrow.
Curious, any idea of an exact release date for these cards?
The 970 uses about 40% more power, but delivers like 10x the performance of the 8800GT. It would be a decent upgrade. lol

Andy from Nvidia said either midnight PST or 6AM tomorrow morning.
Anyone think my i7 2600k , could handle a GTX970? I don't want my cpu to be a bottleneck.
I currently have a GTX670 and its starting to show its age in some of the new games @ 1080p

Bottlenecks aren't an either/or thing, and can exist on multiple parts for different reasons.Anyone think my i7 2600k , could handle a GTX970? I don't want my cpu to be a bottleneck.

Would a 4GB card be a good investment?
I have a 2gb gtx670 atm
So for this, what should I get? 970 or 980? I don't plan to go to 4K, so I'm sticking with 1200p for at least a couple of more years.
I want to be able to play every game on native 1200p with all the bells and whistles (expect maybe The Witcher 3 ubersampling).
Is 970 enough?
This thing is going to go on sale as soon as I go to bed, isn't it...

Can we expect another line of cards next year when the consumer version of the occulus rift comes out? Or is that completely unpredictable?
Love the installation bit

Yeah, 970 is plenty for that res at 60Hz.So for this, what should I get? 970 or 980? I don't plan to go to 4K, so I'm sticking with 1200p for at least a couple of more years.

There will definitely be a Maxwell refresh "Ti" or other high end variant by the time Oculus CV1 comes out.
Big Maxwell might launch, yes. Think Titan 2, 1080, 1080Ti and 100x refresh for the 90x series. If they're going with that naming scheme.
