Dirty Nvidia tactics? Hmm
Me neither, look at the numbers. He compares 2080 Ti (his own), in various configurations, to the reported 2080 Ti result by Nvidia, and tries to match them up. Turns out 2080 Ti @ 1650ish Mhz is what would be close to Nvidia's video. Most 2080 Ti's can easily hold 1900-2000 Mhz.Please do explain for those who don't speak jibber-jabber?

two near identical listings on b and h for the 3080 TUFF. They have different b and h item #s but as far as I know, ASUS only has one TUFF 3080. I bought the cheaper $779 one. Hope they honor it over the more expensive $800 one. I'm sure there will be better cards for less but this is a nice back up/early gamble to take IMO. The TUFF 5700xt was notoriously shit but hopefully ASUS has learned its lesson. 1 day shipping was only $10 more than regular ground so I got that for $20 too

It's b and h though. Good return/cancellation policy. I'm not worried.I mean I am all for securing one without having to worry but even then this one is a hard pass, especially due to the mark up. I will keep refreshing that MSI Trio link they have though even though that is marked up as well (hopefully by mistake).

Also, right on target with the leaked pricing. Obviously, I'd want a Rog Strix for $20 more but this was the first reputable name brand preorder that's stayed up as far as I know

Impressive of course but not quite the monumental leap over the 2080ti I was hoping for, I wonder how nVidia's claims of the 3070 being 2x the 2080ti will hold up based on those early benchmarks?
*Oops, thought they were 3090 benchmarks
Didn't Jensen Huang tout the 3070 as being twice as fast as a 2080ti during last weeks Ampere showcase?

Really pathetic numbers. Do they want to make me wait for Navi?!I was trying to find out when the embargo lifts since youtubers haven't said anything. Seems to be Monday for those that don't know. I think this was info based on a Chinese reviewer that was removed recently.

No, but it's about relative performance. It's still an expensive card and gimped by 10 GB. That means it's realistically possible Big Navi will strike a blow, either performance-wise or in terms of pricing. I wanted to jump headfirst and get a 3080 but now look at this, it's a big MEH.Do you currently have a 2080ti?
Because coming from a 2070 super those numbers look good to me...
Uh, no. absolutely not.
The 3080 was touted as being roughly 2 2080s taped together, though, so maybe you mixed that up.
The 3070 was about equal with or slighty above the 2080ti in the presentation "benchmarks".

Imo the rumors should be consistent and call it a 3060.
Why suffix with -S and -Ti, it only makes the product line confusing
Well, to be fair, 2000 series sure did received performance gain over the last 2 years of about 10% since launch, so of course drivers can improve performance. But even still - 35-45% gain for 800+ Euro if not more? I just cannot justify paying 80-90K RUB for such a pathetic performance gain. From a 2080ti it looks like the average seems to be coming in at around 25% overall so far with the leaked benchmarks. I guess there might be some instances where it reaches around 30% in specific outlier titles maybe? Or perhaps an improved driver version could bring up the performance?
For $200+ more and maybe 7-9% more performance? Very questionable value, especially if Founders version will be just as good and not worse like in the past. You also have to factor in AIB cards that normally have an OC, higher power draw and better cooling. They normally outperform the stock by a reasonable amount.
Yup, you just can't trust NVIDIA with their BS, misleading and pointless graphs cuz no sane person would. However just based on the reference models it doesn't look quite as impressive as Nvidia marketing tried to make it out to be, but that was generally expected by anyone sensible who wasn't on the hype train/a teem green fanboy.
Not in my eyes, even in comparison to 1080Ti in 1440p. Personally, I could not care less about native 4K, 1440p benchmarks are much more interesting to me cuz I've 1440p 144Hz monitor.25ish% uplift seems to be in line with the expected performance based on rumours prior to release. Still a solid uplift I think, nothing to sneer at definitely but not to the level that some hyped themselves up to believe. We should get a fuller picture once multiple benchmarks have been completed relatively soon.

I block fanboys, nothing personal.Considering all you ever posted in this thread is FUD, I'm sure you were going to wait for Navi anyway

Far Cry New Dawn is a shitty example. I remember playing that on my 2080 and regardless of playing it at 720p or at 1440p the frame rate difference was 1-5 frames per second. You can clearly see in the Tomb Raider example the difference is almost 40 fps over the TI. Realistically everyone expected the results to be lower than nvidias mkt bs but it will still be prolly good enough. We'll see.
Okay, let's forget about this crap.Far Cry New Dawn is a shitty example. I remember playing that on my 2080 and regardless of playing it at 720p or at 1440p the frame rate difference was 1-5 frames per second.
I could not care less about synthetic benchmarks. I only care about real world performance in games I'll be playing / playing right now.Let's run through the 1440p data. I'll use the 2070S as a placeholder for the 1080ti since they're so close, though 2070S is slightly faster.
3DM fire strike: +80% 3080 vs 1080ti
3DM time spy: +72%
Port Royal: +93%
Those are probably average FPS btw and I care about stable FPS a lot more. I hate FPS spikes from 70 to 140 back and forth, even though it is less noticable now on my FreeSync and G-Sync compatible monitor.SOTTR (MaxQ): +71%
SOTTR (MaxQ RTX/DLSS): +63%
I highly doubt that. 1080p will go away for sure and will be used to check CPU bottleneks. 1440p is still fairly demanding and will continue to be for at least 5-6 more years.Frankly, you're going to see 1080p and maybe even 1440p drop off the benchmark charts soon because those resolutions are going to become CPU limited on the more powerful cards.
The thing is, I wasn't hyped about 3000 series cuz I haven't even planned to sell my 1080Ti this year. I just expected far more just cuz 2000 series was and still is incredibly pathetic. I also don't care about RTX performance cuz not even 1% of all available games using this tech, let alone DLSS.I get where you are coming from here but I still think 25% is a reasonable performance uplift from a 2080ti. It is not mind shattering but pretty solid I think all things considered. Don't let the hype bubble bursting affect your perception of the card overall, I still think it is pretty good for a much better price than a 2080ti was.
Exactly. I would not buy 3070 with 8GB VRAM cuz even in 1440p more and more games started using over 9+GB of VRAM. But it's hard to say and at least for now, that 10GB VRAM will bottleneck 3080 in 1440p / 4K later, we have to wait and see to be sure. And yeah, knowing NVIDIA, they just want to fuck with us all at launch and 8 months later release Ti / Super cards with more VRAM, 10-15% more performance and for the same price. The main issue I think with the 3080/3070 is the VRAM amounts. Even if someone was a diehard Nvidia fan, we pretty much know that they are working on super/ti versions of the 3070/3080 with more (up to double?) VRAM. That means early adopters will probably get screwed over.
Uhuh. We already saw photos of mining farms with a mountain of 3000 series cards. In addition to that rumours are that there will be very limited initial stock of the 3000 series so they will likely be sold out in no time. Probably better to wait until second batch minimum otherwise people will likely end up paying scalper prices.
Because coming from a 2070 super those numbers look good to me...
