1. According to Microcenter (Link), your case can accommodate cards that are up to 15 inches (381mm) long. Click on the "Specs" section. So, the length of the 3080 or 3090 should not be an issue. However, there's no information about how wide of a card your case can accommodate.

2. I was using an NZXT H440 as my case up until Sunday, when I bought a Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL ROG and transferred my build into it. It could accommodate cards up to 16.85 inches (428mm) long via removal of obstructing hard-drive trays; so, it could have fit either the RTX 3080 or 3090 (assuming that it was wide enough). However, I wanted to refresh my build, so to speak, in preparation for the 3090 (hopefully I get one) with a case that's even more spacious and has better airflow. Here it is:

Yeah this is my first order from them i just ordered as soon as it popped up. PNY is fine, but they are a smaller brand than EVGA,MSI or Asus. They are American based too.

Thanks for the info! Also I love your use of color, blue is my favorite. So length wise it seem I will be fine with most of the 3080 offerings. As you mentioned width wise might be a problem.

My 2070s FE is 9" long, 4" wide. So in comparison to the evga FTW3 I am basically adding just under 2" in each direction.

Thanks, though I realize that I should have gotten ARGB fans. I've ordered three more fans for the bottom of the case and they're ARGB; I'll eventually replace the others with ARGB and use them in another build or something.

Is there at least two inches between the side of your 2070s FE and the side panel of your case?

I believe so, problem would be the connectors cause they stick out at least an inch from where they are plugged in.

I mean I am not totally against taking everything apart and putting it back together, just wasn't planning on having it. Also it's additional cost on top of something that is already expensive. Honestly this is the first time I have even thought of the possibility of needing a new case.

So I have my current nzxt h510 and the fractal s2 dimensions pulled up and while everyone seems to say the s2 is a big case the dimensions width wise seem to be only be just under an inch longer but it is length wise longer.

H510-width 8.27/length 16.85
Fractal S2-width 9.17/length 21.18

Would I be good to go for pretty much any 3080 aib in the s2?

Don't look at the case dimensions, the main thing you need to look at is the GPU clearance on the spec sheets (and the CPU clearance if you are worried about the width of the card - the max CPU height will tell you the clearnace between the motherboard and the glass panel).

For example:

  • Fractal Meshify S2 - max GPU length of 440mm and a max CPU height of 185mm
  • Lian Li o11 Dynamic XL - max GPU length of 446mm and a max CPU height of 167mm
  • Antec P120 Crystal - max GPU length of 450mm and a max CPU height of 185mm
  • Thermaltake View 51 - max GPU length of 440mm and a max CPU height of 175mm

You will be good with any of the above really. If there's another one you are looking at just check the spec sheet on their website.

More or less fine. Up to 10% would get "burned", even for Nvidia launches. eg the Turing cards had widespread issues with "Space Invaders" (GPU dying) which supposedly was down to GDDR6, so with new GDDR6X it would not be out of the question that there'd be a problematic initial batch.

Jayz2cents from 4 years ago is the best one I would say. To the point done by someone who knows what they are doing and covers all of the bases.

I would suggest going for a ThermalTake Core P3 or P5 for your first build, it's an open case and makes the entire experience much easier and less stressful. Use flexible tubing and standard compression fittings. Sort and sign your screws if you are including the GPU in your loop. Run the loop for 24 hours before actually starting the system - don't skim on paper towel.
Use EK or Barrow if you're looking to save some money, there's also a Chinese company called Bykski that has great blocks which are pretty much on point copies of EK at 70% of the price. No need to go crazy with the radiators - try not to mix metals, although the importance of this is greatly exaggerated, you can use aluminum if you want. One thick 360 radiator is more than enough for the entire system.

All in all it is not difficult at all, but can quickly skyrocket in price. Also once you go with a loop you never go back - keep that in mind as it will spoil all other PCs for you.

Never had a bad experience other than actually trying to get a card in the crypto mining reality (having to wait 4 weeks only to find out that the card is not coming).

I took the day off of work just so I could wait out in front of the Microcenter on the 17th and try to nab a 3080. I'm thinking waiting 2 hours before they open, though I'll drive by there earlier and see. The issue is that MC is an hr from my house, but I'll work it out.

So I did some measurements and it seems I could fit a evga ftw3 in my current case. The problem comes with actually connecting and potential airow issues. Without the connector it seems I have maybe a half inch of clearance before hitting the glass. With the plug that's going to be extremely tight.

The CPU cooler clearance is 6.5",the ftw3 (only one I'm using for reference) is 5.38" wide which leaves 1.12" difference before any plugs.

So yea gonna have to buy another one...

I like the 3080,I really do,but I'm leaning towards one of the "ugly" cards. I like the simplistic modern design of the fe but for some reason the lipstick on the ftw3 is calling out to me. I think my top 3 would be ftw3,strix, or trio. I can't wait for all three be sold out and I miss out.

That's my top 3 as well, for the extra power limit & better coolers, but ultimately too expensive to be worth it. Eagle OC instead! :)
Maybe I'll watercool it down the line, who knows, but that's +$300-$400.

I have that Fractal case and I can't recommended it enough. Good cable management and build quality is *chefs kiss.

Well that sealed it (plus many reviews I've watched). Purchased a black and also a white (for the wife) fractal meshify s2. Luckily they come in on Tuesday when I'm off so I can spend the day moving everything over. Excited to see the extra room I'll have.
