Good to see NV is still stiffing us on Vram. Jesus christ, 12Gb is like the bare minimum now.

I have a feeling the 7700xx line will deliver better value.

These elitists dumbasses. 12 gb minum lmao. Im still rocking a 2080 with 8 gb and have never needed more and I've played all triple A games at 1440p. Unless you play at absurd resolutions or use mods that add extremely pointless high resolution textures, you will never ever need more than 12 unless its an unoptimized pos. A Plague Tale Requiem has some insane textures and that game barely surpasses 4gb. It's also a next-gen only game.

I agree with you if the performance is indeed equal or beats a 3090

People wanting to compare pricing to the 3070 I think are silly because the performance boot of previous 70 series wasn't near this

Isn't it relatively normal for the base 70 series card to match performance of the previous gen flagship.

Ignoring the naming convention and looking at the price points, this is probably Nvidia's smallest performance jump between generations ever. Basically the 3080 to the 4070, though the 3080 was actually $100 cheaper.

Possibly, without looking I don't remember the performance jump of the 3070 compared to the 2000 flagship

Will be curious how it sells as it seems the 4080 isn't doing well

Anyone buying these products is perpetuating this pricing nonsense.
So have fun with your fucked market.

Reminder: You don't need a brand new GPU
We have Nvidia shills on this site proud of the fact that the 4090 will "outsell all of AMDs offering" and considering the 80/20 split, they're sadly right. I'm so happy that I have no more desires to upgrade my PC or barely want my PS5 at this point. Why on earth are you even playing with shit like this? Cyberpunk and Metro on benchmark loop?

It's possible that it is just getting harder for them to get the gains without pushing the prices up, but I suspect they are just a bit greedy LOL

That might leave the door open for price correction if the market yawns at these offerings.

As someone that has always been a Nvidia loyalist their recent moves are a gut punch.

Seems more likely to me that something like the following will happen

4070 Ti (3090 Ti) at $799
4070 (3080 Ti) at $699
4060 Ti (3080) at $499
4060 (3070) at $349
4050 (3060) at $249

Improvements at every price tier vs. last gen. You really think Nvidia is stupid enough to release a card that is weaker than a last gen card for more money?
You are too optimistic. It will be something more along those lines.

4070 Ti (3090 Ti) at $799
4070 (3080 Ti) at $699
4060 Ti (3080) at $599
4060 (3070) at $449
4050 (3060) at $349

I mean, it is a bargain..... compared to the 4080 and 4090.

That is not an excuse. They are already seeing sells for their cards drop due to high prices. Being more affordable than the top of the line does not make it affordable.

so.. Canada computer leaked the prices of the AIB cards by mistake. if you search 4070 ti without pressing enter. a list of the cards with their prices are available. you can kiss the 800$ US to CAD ass goodbye. as 800$ US is 1070$ CAD however the cheapest Eagle shit is 1300$ CAD ( this is MSRP price btw )

The word fuck off isn't enough to even describe how I feel about this. this shit better be 10% more powerful than a 3090ti to justify this price.

Bruh you're still using pleb 64gb of memory
That's the whole problem. people keep comparing those 4000 gpu's with 3080ti/3090/3090ti's all pointless products nobody cared for as there value was terrible. Ampere stopped at 3080 10gb value wise and that's just the reality when u compare prices.

Gen gumps are like 30-40% increase in performance normally. So that's what u should expect out of it. So that 4080 12gb aka 4070 should be aimed straight for the 3070 spot. That card released for 499 i believe ( already overpriced as shit ), so the price should be 499 at absolute best and that's already pushing it, 799 is a complete and utter joke, the 4080 should be aiming or 699 and the 4090 should target 899 at best or just call it a titan at this point and a halo product and ask 999 for it.

This is also why the AMD gpu's are all terrible value, non of them beat the 4080, and they cost a grand already. If these clowns at AMD would just release GPU's for normal prices with the 7900xtx 16gb at 699, and 7900xt at 499. U would see nvidia eat dirt the next day.

Instead those clowns jump straight along to the point i almost wonder they have some deal going with nvidia to give the idea to consumers there is competition but really there isn't. Who's going to spend 1k on a AMD gpu, yea nobody. It's a joke.
Uncle and niece are perhaps colluding.

Unless you turn texture streaming off, or the game is horribly optimized, you aren't using more than 7gb in a modern game at 1440p.

If we're comparing price points.

4090 Ti (at $1599) is 64% faster than 3090 while costing 6% more, that's a great improvement
4080 (at $1199) is a 33% improvement over 3080 Ti while costing the same, that's a normal generational improvement at the same price, but the 3080 Ti was terrible value at $1199.

What's wrong with that?

4070 Ti (at $799) looks bad compared to the RTX 3080 (at $699) because it seems to be around 30% improvement for 14% money. On the surface, that's not great (because 3080 was at a good price), but from a different angle the 4070 Ti offers a level of performance that was not available 2 years ago. In this sense the 4070 Ti still makes sense to me.

4070 Ti is the beginning of the high end as it offers a level of performance not seen two years ago (if the 3090 Ti claim holds).

Perf/$ gains aren't great, but there are no signs that we're going backwards at already established price points. If we get more performance at previous gen price tiers, which is what this prediction is based on, I will think the prices are okay.

The point to start worrying is if foolishness like the below happens, as that would be a step backwards.

I find those prices to be unlikely. Cards in Canada are priced closed to the US factoring in the exchange rate. The cheapest 4080 on Canada Computers is $1599 which is $1174 USD. Right around the $1200 MSRP.

Those prices would make the 4070 Ti in Canada close to the 7900 XTX or even a bit pricier. The cheapest 7900 XT is $1249 or $916 USD which again is close to the $900 USD MSRP.

The 4090 likewise is also priced very closely to the US prices when factoring the exchange rate. Either the 4070 Ti will be $900, not $800, or Canada Computer is listing incorrect placeholder prices.

well you can check yourself.

when there is no FE card, there is no chance you will get the 1100$ rate we would hope so.

If these are final prices, this is very strange. The 4090 and 4080 are priced accordingly but the 4070 Ti would be like 15% more expensive?

when there is no FE. AIBs will price the cards as they wish. there is no controlling them.

you will only see an MSRP card at release ( a total of probably 3 cards ) that you will never get your hands on. as it's required by Nvidia for the AIB to release an MSRP card. but once that stock vanished in spit seconds, you are stuck with these cards.

It is also part of a push it seems from AIB to push the sales of their 4080. who knows what the hell they are thinking man. these prices are shit.

The pricing they've gone with could just get more and more foolish looking as you move down the stack. I guess we'll see how it ends up. I hope that the 60/50 line continue to be competitive in price|performance.

It's a 1440p high refresh card, it's fine.

I have a feeling the 7700xx line will deliver better value.
And what GPU will the RX 7700 line be competing with?
The 4070 Ti is in the same performance tier as the 7900 XT (if the 3090 Ti claim holds).

Lower tier cards from both companies should deliver better value than these high end cards...

I was going to wait to see what the 7800XT looks like. But if a 7900XT is only 30-40% better than a 6800XT. I can't imagine where they would slot a 7800XT. 6800XT was already $650. 7900XT is $900. So for what $750-800 I get 15% better than 6800XT, it sound like a gigantic ripoff.

I'm interested to see GN and HU review the 4070ti. It may be my upgrade from my GTX 1080.

Inflation plus 50% extra RAM, plus the advanced node makes this card probably the best value out of all the cards so far.

Buy on performance, not naming. Last gen Nvidia's 70-series wasn't even close to AMD's 900 series, this time it will be...

Inflation my ass. Inflation isn’t going to Jack the price up by $200!

Blame amd for offering such a bad product+avaiability that even 1600usd msrp(was quite a bit more in europe first few weeks after launch) nivdias offering tops its sales.

Amd has very low marketshare atm and even lost a bit from what it had in recent steamsurvey, as a hungry young wolf they they should be agressive with pricing and shower market with their product that offer visibly better value vs their competitor, so far we didnt see nothing of that, lets see how 2023 turns out.

What GPU do you have?
Anything better than an RX480 8GB is good enough.

You don't need a brand new GPU
Appreciate the assist but 1080 Ti so I'm good for a bit still. I do fear potential chip death but I'm mostly sad for clients. At the low to mid (3050/3060) prices are bad new and the used market is just a joke locally. The small saving is rarely ever worth the difference vs new with warranty (again, locally).
That's the whole problem. people keep comparing those 4000 gpu's with 3080ti/3090/3090ti's all pointless products nobody cared for as there value was terrible. Ampere stopped at 3080 10gb value wise and that's just the reality when u compare prices.

Would say 30-40% is a bit more than we tend to get now. It used to be the standard but I can't keep expecting that from the new nodes every time.
I don't entirely blame AMD but I don't like it either. Unsure if it continued but there were rumblings early on that the XTX was outselling the 4080 in places (or would have if not for supply limits? I forget exactly where I heard this. GN perhaps.), which would suggest they're doing something right, or at least that the 4080 is doing something very badly. Point being if they can only make x amount of GPUs anyway... if they can get them all to sell at that for 1K,,, 🤷‍♂️ They're not shy about dropping prices when sales are slow at least e.g. Ryzen 7000, Radeon 6000.

This would all be less of a problem if they didn't drag their heels releasing lower end cards. I don't know if it is covid supply chain hangover or what but the product release stacks never used to be this thin and slow as molasses to go down the product line. The smallest chips would be the most mass producible and satisfy the market needs... but less money for them.

Cheapest one. Best Buy is pretty much the only place selling the Founder's Edition in Canada.
