People who balk at the prices of high end computer parts have never owned a race car.
I wish I get could parts for $899. Gaming is cheap.
You wouldn't be racing if Nvidia made car parts

but I agree gaming is relatively inexpensive.

I'll sell you a GTX 580 for $250US free shipping. no joke.
Why are people getting mad at a top end card being expensive?

Thanks for the offers, but I think the fiance and my brother are picking me up a Galaxy GTX 660 that was out of stock when I first brought the subject up on upgrading. Not sure how it stands up to the 580 (good card from what I hear) or anything on AMDs end.
Pretty significant difference.
some idiots will buy this.
dont worry, that'll be the price of nvidia's mid-range gpu when the fanboys get their wish and amd is dead.
My gtx 260 weeps.
This is pure epenis measuring. A fool and his money I guess.
How is it foolish to get an awesome card if you are a compuiter hardware enthusiast? Don't you like to get good things for your hobbies? Stop being jealous of people that make more than minimum wage.
^^ your name/avatar combo just made that 10x funnier
gg

The 680's clock speed will become a bottleneck before the 4 GB of VRAM comes into play.
I wonder if you can Tri-SLI the Titan...$2700 on the GPU array alone.
What rigs are people running monitor-wise that would make this a sensible choice? Not only that, but what games as well? This is such a small market for people that would not only need this but actually use it. I also wonder if someone is upgrading then what are their current specs too? I have absolutely no reason to be jealous of anybody buying these.
Anyone running something higher than 1080p. A single 680 can't even hit a solid 60fps in several newer games at higher resolutions. A SLI 670 setup would be about the same price as this since you would need to be buying the 4GB versions. So instead buy this and avoid dual card headaches.

And then optimized. It is optimized to be the sauciest sauce that ever sauced. And then they sprinkle faerie dust on top. That's how console console hardware is made.
690 is pretty much between two 670s and two 680s in performance, and is still SLI. That's a side-grade.I'm running a SLI 670 rig with two 1600p monitors. Yes it would save me the headache but at that point, might as well just do a 690.
On my X79 platform, I went 690->3x670 (straight trade)->2x670, and am selling off another 670. Out of my initial purchase, I'll have gained back 65% (counting for $100 waterblock that went with the 690), while keeping a 670. So that's only $200 out of pocket for the first Titan. Also made $300 from selling hardware I won in an online mod/water cooling competition, so really, I'm only paying $800 for two Titans. Plus these are all business expenses, so nice tax write offs. What rigs are people running monitor-wise that would make this a sensible choice? Not only that, but what games as well? It does, and it doesn't. In most scenarios, you can work through whatever is going on, but it takes time to figure out. That's not really a big negative if you are a tinkerer. In other situations, there's just no real answer to fix whatever problems are being faced. In this instance, you are essentially losing out on that big chunk of change you plopped down on a second card as disabling SLI is the only fix. That's kind of a bummer.Does SLI have that many problems?
I'm currently using a 2gb GTX 680, and once I moved up to a higher resolution than 1080p, I've noticed the card getting worked pretty hard on some of the newer games. Was considering going the SLI route as a result.
But if it's that much of an issue, maybe this is better? I'm just confused, because just looking at the rumored specs (I admit I'm semi a noob) the Titan will be slower than the 690. So it's: SINGLE card with 6gb of ram that is slightly slower, or SLI card that is 4gb and slightly quicker.
I don't plan on going above 1440p at this point. And I'm not going to multi-monitor. So I'm wondering if I really need more than 4gb (although again, in the case where some games have issues with SLI, I would be stuck with a 2gb 680).
So back to my question, does SLI have that many issues?
Man.. buy this or wait for 700/8000 series.

This is how we manipulate ourselves into thinking it is okay.

Is there any benchmarks that compare the Titan favorably in SLI to a couple of 690s in SLI? If we're going for max performance then might as well go all the way.
Titan is not officially announced or released yet.
There aren't any, but I can guarantee that two Titans will outperform two 690s. SLI scales horribly at 3x and 4x. Two 690s = quad SLI.Is there any benchmarks that compare the Titan favorably in SLI to a couple of 690s in SLI? If we're going for max performance then might as well go all the way.

Here's some benchmarks for ya. In a lot of cases, you're essentially looking at a single digit increase in performance with two 690s.
Wat.However a Titan isn't equal to a 690 so if there is a difference then it's going to be marginalized by that 15% hit per GPU. In TriSli, yea the Titan will be the clear winner though.
That price is absolutely insane.
Still won't be enough against Durango's secret sauce.
Wat.
15+15 =/= 90

tl;dr - GeForce releasing a new series not under the GTX name. This is called GeForce Titan, out next month, $900, 85% performance of GTX690 with a single GPU.
Edited my post above.Did I ever say 90?
