I think what I like most about NXT is that it's presenting wrestling as a sport and not some glorified soap opera, and it's getting recognition for that. Zayn/Nakamura showed that 'yes, this kind of thing can catch peoples' attentions, hearts and minds if the match is enticing enough.' NXT's done this time and again, and it's got some chronology in the sense that people come in and move on, while you do have some people on there regularly. It's definitely a better, more focused product than the main roster.

I just hope that it gets to a point where it can force the main roster to change its' focus.

Japanese crowd sucks, but still better than Corpus Christi tho.
Japanese crowd like to observe, get and feel into the match and respond when necessary. Sometimes they can be too quiet to the point where they feel a little scared to say anything which is why you have oendan around to pick up the spirits. This is the culture though and you can't do much about that. However, when a match is absolutely stellar they will make plenty of noise along with tears and insane admiration to boot. Case point is AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom 9. Japanese crowd appreciate plenty of things more so than the western, and they are very supportive to any under dog and appreciate when a person do their best to entertain and be genuining about it, and when you have absolute raw talent. Ignoring the company's flexibility, this is why people like Kenny Omega are so successful and respected in Japan.

Where's this post every Monday when the same braindeads cry about RAW?

God, i'd love some shrugging then.

Eh, it's mostly Kuroyume and UberTag competing to see who can post the most nasty things about the state of WWE week after week after week after week after week.

The Wrestlemania thread should be fun.

I'll never understand this new complaint about crowds. People should boo and cheer whoever they want and chant whatever they want. Don't see the issue with that.

<shrugs> I had lots of nice things to say about NXT last night. I don't understand the ragging on crowd reactions at all.

Everyone loves Finn, everyone.

Haha. Is she reaching for his ass?

I can't believe Bobby Roode was in the crowd. Assuming he signs I kinda feel bad for James Storm. Overall I feel bad that these two won't be in NXT together.

I thought the crowd were pretty much perfect. The only chant I don't like is when they count one number ahead on a count out or double down. Certainly doesn't stop my enjoyment of the show though.

I thought the stoppages actually helped the main event and made Joe look like an absolute killer. They also kept the crowd invested in the match when they may have otherwise died down a bit due to the awesomeness that had proceeded it.

Naw. The best was "fight forever" which is the ultimate and highest respect you could ever give to two wrestlers. I never heard that chant in wrestling until that day. Nothing comes close to that. You are practically standing, clapping and bowing all at the same time when you chant those words. Who ever you say that to, they have become kings for that moment. Can't say more than enough.

i also think the hey baby song might not be that familiar to americans? for people from england, ireland, australia, etc, that song was massive. #1 on the charts. was the song for the 2002 world cup if i remember correctly. its just a harmless pop song that is easy to chant at sports events. fml if changing the word baby to bayley somehow makes it creepy.

I think most Americans are probably at least familiar with the original song (written by an American actually):

Yeah, it's respect for wrestling, the performers, and the fans. The storylines and emotions are kept simple, and there's trust with everyone involved in making the best show possible. No cynicism or undeserved grabs for attention.

On the main roster, baby faces are made to look like idiots.

Barry Corbin growing into his shit eating heel character has been great to see.

Vince will love him automatically because he is tall anyway but he was soooo terrible when he started in NXT. Its great to see him not resting on his laurels and actually improving.

Yup. I was worried no one could hang with Nakamura to the standard of his NJPW matches but Zayn was incredible and made me a huge fan with that one match

Dont forget that Balor was Prince Devitt and was definitely an NJPW guy to watch out for getting paired with Nakamura eventually. Those two together will be incredible if they book it someday.

Just rewatched Nakamura vs Zayn again. Yup...STILL FUCKING AWESOME!
Nakamura's been my guy for awhile. So glad to see them not fuck him over on his debut. Cmon WWE. Let the man keep doin what he does and you'll see something incredible happen.

I dunno man, hearing that chant might have been the happiest I've ever been watching wrestling.

So I finally got around to watching this, and it is only my second NXT watching experience.

Cruiserweight-style matches reminiscent of WCW.
Crowd reminiscent of ECW.
Backing of WWE without the insanely terrible booking/Kevin Dunn.

I'm in love. This is the best thing to happen in wrestling in a decade.

The Boma... uh.. KINSHASA that ended Nakamura/Zayn looked a bit weird to me, with Nakamura doing some kind of flip in the end.

Maybe that's some safer version of it that he'll use going forward?

Pretty much every single NXT Takeover event is well worth a watch, just great old-school wrestling events.

Ohhhhhhhhh I misheard that one. In that case, you right.

"Askua's gonna kill you" chants duelling with "Bayleys gonna hug you" chants was pretty fun.

Also pretty great.

Nope. It was a full on Kinsasha and was also probably one of the coolest one he ever pulled off:

Nakamura never toned back anything in this match. He was all hard style.
