By the time I get to playing Horizon it will be $20-30 (the GOTY version at that lol), I've saved a lot of money by only playing games once I've beaten the previous games I purchased.
My brother is doing this with his PS3 games since he has a very small collection and not to mention that he never upgraded his 8GB HD. He falls back to playing Ultra Street Fighter IV MP as comfort food.

The only reason I have a massive backlog is because I buy games during sales such as the aforementioned buy x get x free sales or on Black Friday. I don't think I've finished 90% of my 3DS library because of that. I told myself that I can't start a new game until I finish DQ7 which is way too long. If I move out, I would take a small chunk of my physical 3DS games that I did not open/put a tiny amount of time into before putting it down.

I accepted that I'll never play through a bunch of old games and resigned myself to selling games that I played through and have 0 interest in keeping. Although I don't imagine that the CE 360 version of vanilla Dark Souls II would have much resale value in this day and age let alone both R6V games.

Important question

Is it wiser to stock up on beer or wine?
Wine is the bane of my existence unless it's at home but most people would say wine. I went out during last year's big snowstorm in February buzzed on wine and it was lots of fun. Which one are you in the mood for? I would also recommend rum, specifically Brugal Anejo for a nice feel.

My mom has been saying that there's hour long lines in the supermarkets. What does she want me to do? Go stock up on stuff as well. If I'm hoarding up on something tomorrow, it may as well be a case of beer to watch the CW shows tomorrow night.

I'm at c town and people are doomsday prepping. I have enough food to last the week almost. I just bought some stuff to not be nervous.

Sweet Jesus! All those games are quite hard to find and expensive to boot! Where did you find them and how much? It looks like Gamestop to me.

My friend has been saying that it looks like the PAX East crowd followed him because his Target in College Point where he works at is insanely crowded. Bread, milk, pasta, and Ego waffles have been cleaned out. 2 feet of snow and people are acting like it's the end of the world. One of my editors is Canadian and said that in Calgary he had to wade through knee deep snow on a regular basis.

Huh, got some food on Sunday and it was no busier than normal, guess the end timers are late panicked.

Doesn't look like much snow in Brooklyn yet, though.

Yea, apparently the storm didn't shift as far east as they thought it would. We aren't getting the big snow this time from the look of it.

yeah just posting it on retroGAF before coming over here. it's from gamestop =)
Those are some damn good prices you paid for those games! Hell, even I would have splurged. And from the stack of games that you posted from that Gamestop, Pandora's Tower, Klonoa, The Last Story, and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles were some uncommon games as well possibly Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. I've been meaning to check out Klonoa at some point but I don't hunt down retro games quite as much these days but I have a bunch of games still on my to get list some day. I actually have Pandora's Tower and Collector's Edition version of The Last Story sealed since I bought the former on day one and the latter when Amazon had it on sale for 10 bucks (!!!).

In many cases, the Gamestops in Jersey tend to carry uncommon games since I've gotten lucky in the past. Xenoblade 3DS is a royal pain in the ass to find new in B&M stores which I really want. I was thinking about either selling or donating my autographed copy of the original Scribblenauts to Frank Cifaldi's Video Game Museum since I never touched the game again after the first few months.

Back on topic: My block looks fine to me as well although I can't see Jersey from my window because it's misty. It reminds me of Silent Hill. My appointment was canned and the gym so I guess that's out of the question. I might just head out to take out cash and get a case of beer.

The blizzard of '93 and '96 were much, much worse with 300+ deaths reported in the latter. I don't have no memory of the 93 blizzard but I remember between massive towers of snow with my brothers in the aftermath of the '96 blizzard. Fun times having snow fights and no classes as a kid.

On another note, another old Manhattan independent art supply store is about to close for good. A.I. Friedman has been around for 80 years in the Chelsea area but it's shutting down operations next month joining the likes of Pearl Paint and New York Central Art Supply as casualties:

A.I. Friedman will close on April 30th and though the company has been hush on why they are losing, industry insiders reveal that the store has had difficulties paying their vendors. It is also speculated that competition from large art supply chains, like Blick and Michael's, have crippled the business of independent businesses.

Source

Thanks Blick! The only other indie art supply store that I can think that's still alive is the one that's a few blocks away from Columbia University. I only went there once but I liked the friendly cluttered nature of the store. It's something that you can't get from going to a chain art supply store. I'm not gonna lie though, Blick has a discount card and solid sales every now and then.

What a disappointment this storm was -- I was looking forward to having blizzard like conditions. I wish MTA didn't shut down since I could have been more productive in the office.

From an outer-borough Gamestop? When I lived in Queens I would clean up the Sunnyside Gamestop whenever there was B2G1 free - it seemed to always have rare titles in pristine condition.
yeah, found it in NJ i'm using a buy 2 get 1 free to bring it down even more. (going back after the storm)
I wish I could get radiant dawn but I can't stomach paying $70 for it. One day...
Edit: Where do you go for your NES stuff?
i wouldn't have gotten it without the pro member discounts plus the buy 2 get on1 free coupon i'm bringing. with that it's worth it. for nes games i go to a local retro store in NJ called digital press and just look through their pile. they're all about 4-5 bucks loose.

thanks for the recommendations.
I haven't even started MGS5 yet, damn this mild snow making me be productive today
i've been playing nes all day since i just got a RGB modded nes. i think i need a break now =)

Ha, I was going to ask if it's digital press. I wish I had an easy way to get there without a car.

Happy the storm is over. Sure it wasn't as big as predicted but it was still a mess. Unfortunately, there is the issue of ice. I just finished off clearing pipes of what is now ice and will have to check tomorrow. Its supposed to be very cold but I hope the sun makes an appearance.

Fuck the MTA in every conceivable way! I left 30 minutes early and still I was almost an hour late! I even checked the advisory, and it said good service on my line. So how is it I get on an Express train, only for it to be redirected to local? That transition took like 20 minutes! Then every stop they had to make and extra 5 minute stop in between! For what I assume was for shits and giggles.

Yeah, I always take the local going in after a storm (or a "storm,") as the 2/3/Q is usually a total shitshow of delays even running on the middle/express tracks. I gave myself two hours to get from Harlem to Wall Street after last month's snow and still ended up late since I had to walk due to red/yellow/green lines all being at a standstill. Even the conductor was confused/angry since according to her there were zero trains ahead of us (1 line) all the way to South Ferry and no switch/mech/signal problems.

Honestly I thought I would be good since usually it takes at most 30 mins to get to my work via local and that is with minor delays. What really pissed me off was just watching all those trains go by.

i left early for school too and ended up waiting like 35ish minutes for the B6, ended up being like 20 minutes late

Takes one passenger to slow an entire line

So for idea for next meet-up would be April 15th, Tax Day!

It will be a minor going away event for Makai who is driving out west to find a grocery store... don't ask

Thinking could probably go see Fate of the Furious and then maybe hit up a bar or something.

I know trying to do more than drinking

I booked my flight to Chicago and put a down payment for my hostel bed last night but I suppose I would come out and play since I fly out on the 20th. I would keep drinking to 2-3 beers tops or 2 mixed drinks because I'm going frugal again. I would get some poster paper or a use some Bristol paper as a poster/farewell card of sorts for peeps to sign.

The only problem with that day is that I personally might have a family engagement since my mom wants to plan a birthday party for her 55th birthday (her birthday is on the 12th). That's TBD at the moment because my mom hasn't talked about it much lately. I'll have a clearer answer as it gets closer to April.

You can only enjoy those movies straight of mind!

And... based off our last excursion, I like you folks... but going to a movie with some of you drunk...

yeah, honestly i'm going to pass if it's the same scene as last time. it could've got really bad. thankfully we left and the problem couldn't find us or follow us to our next destination.

i don't want to be around a$$holes or idiots.

Thankfully the rest of the peeps were awesome.

What's with the sudden hostility and passive aggressiveness from both of you? I don't appreciate the subtle shade throwing.
