That isn't capitalism. Capitalism is a system in which people's labor is sold to people who own capital (the means of production) in order to obtain subsistence. A prostitute is a socialist, unless she is under somebody else's control. And if I were a prostitute, I'd object to capitalism too.
Did you learn this in your drum circle?

Let's see where generalizations and trolling will get us in this thread!
They've gotten us to multiple pages of enjoyable banter and light hearted fun.

It's gotten us to an unreadable thread and a crazy person let loose in it spamming uncontrollably. You might want to check other forums if you're so interested in this kind of threads, I heard 4chan is beautiful this time of year. And take Manos with you, you seem very fond of him.

Have you called the police yet? I know I would if someone was in my home with a gun to my head, forcing me to read threads I hated.

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/nati...g-wall-street-protesters-wearing-masks/42732/

Though a reported 1,000 people showed up to the event on Saturday, the latest reports put the headcount at about 200. And morale is running low. "The Live Video feed media team is taking a beating: 3 days of full coverage, two arrested this AM, equipment breaking, no help," reads a message from the protesters. "Stop sending pizza. There's a mountain of it."

Shame they could move the mountain to a homeless shelter or give it to homeless on the street, or heck even just regular people in the area (might engender some goodwill). Yeah pizza isn't insanely healthily, but food is food and I hate seeing it go to waste, which is what looks like is happening.

Oh I'm sorry, I hadn't realized this was your forum and people should abandon threads because, out of the thousands of members, two want to turn threads into moron land.

I'm sorry, who was the one coming into a thread and saying how much they hate it? I could have sworn it was the person who was not me.

In my defense I'm not the one cheerleading for a spamming idiot or making vast generalizations in here.

So instead, your sole contribution has been to whine about the thread. You've improved it for all of us.

On topic, that pizza thing is pretty cool. I would buy these guys a pizza for all of the entertainment they've given me.
empty vessel said:
If I did, would you have the courage to rebut it?
The courage? You have an amusingly inflated sense of self importance that seems a bit out of place in a tongue in cheek thread full of silliness. Really courageous though.

sweeping generalizations is the lowest form of arguing and debating. i think it's safe to start not taking the naysayers her seriously.

here's hoping the people there now and the occupywallst was a seed. it could lead nowhere but it could also lead to something else.

So what you're saying is that we shouldn't take anything you've said in this thread seriously because you've been silly all along.

Compared to the absolute shit you and your buddy have posted my contribution looks like a scientific essay. Afterall I didn't want to contribute in this thread I just wanted to read it, my 'contribution' was forced because the thread was not readable anymore.

You can take my contributions as seriously as I take yours.

My comment was taken seriously when you disclaimed any intent that you were making yours seriously. Now you don't take my comment seriously. Make up your mind.

all of you bitching about manos and these hippies being made fun of
Mebfg.png

i havent seen anyone here thats pissed about him mocking protesters give a solid reason why they shouldnt be mocked. instead ya'll are getting defensive and acting like an emotional bunch of children, *gasp*, just like those protesters. there are legitimate reasons why they should be ridiculed and instead of coming up with a reasons and explanations, you guys resort to namecalling and running away. great retort!

how about you put him on your ignore list and try to have a reasonable discussion instead of all the crying and whining? if this thread pisses you guys off so much, why do you keep coming back to bitch about it?

So you're basically lowering yourself to their level(or lower)? Makes perfect sense.

i seem to recall you saying you have better things to do with your life than being obsessed with stupid shit, yet you keep coming back with sniping posts that add absolutely nothing. why so obsessed?

You mean besides there being no reason to mock them in the first place?

Those aren't legitimate reasons. I realize posting an image on the internet is a persuasive argument for you, but some of us might require more.

I don't take your comment seriously because on every fundamental level I disagree with your tint on the world. Why would I want to rehash basic philosophical differences with you in what is a thread about weird performance artists and protest cosplay? The fact that you conflate message board discussion with courage is just icing on the silliness.

That you think that whether prostitution is capitalism or not depends upon one's "tint on the world" is a testament to your delusion-based world outlook. It's not a question of philosophic difference. Either you understand what capitalism is or you don't.

empty vessel, keep fighting the good fight. I lost patience and drive pages ago, but I'm glad someone is still at it.

Bowed out of what? Can you link me to the scoreboard, or is it all in your head?

I like the act of "occupying wall Street".

The occupation and use of "public" space is very interesting to me.

what is public? what is private? what can you do? what can't you do?

During my MA, and in my working life, I researched and wrote a lot about this subject. If I ever start a PhD I might continue the research.

Hopefully they can keep it up to give me some ideas for my PhD. Even the way an outside "office" was created is great but I'm sure the authorities, and Manos, disagree.

Also I mean not just occupying for activism, but generally using "public" space to do things. I went to China during the summer, and although they ban picnics/loitering in certain public spaces, I saw karaoke, dancing, exercise classes, what looked like a group discussion happening in their squares, parks, and on the street corners. Bloody fantastic.

When is Obama going to get boots on the ground to end this occupation? Some good ol' war stimulus will get the economy roaring.

Lol... it's less about the fact that they shouldn't be mocked and more about the fact that Manos has proven himself a sad, sad man with no life.

he can still redeem himself by going to NYC, finding some protesting hippies, and lighting his entire body on fire in front of them.

Someone seems very bitter that a lot of other posters enjoyed the jokes about these idiots signs and their inability to organize and run a protest, their behavior, have unified or even coherent theme/message, and how they damaged those who want issues with the banking, campaign finance, and other areas to be taken seriously.

Brilliant response.

I don't understand this.

I don't think they did anything but call attention to an issue, albeit in an unorganized fashion.

Manos: The Hans of Fate said:
What issue though?
Public anger directed at Wall Street.

It's not like Paul Krugman or Matt Taibbi or Elizabeth Warren will be on a television show and the host will be like "I'm sorry, we're not going to take you seriously because of those hippies protesting in Liberty Square"

Great job Manos.

Thread backfire was awesome to watch, also heartening to see most of Liberal GAF isn't bat shit naive or insane.
