Results from the ROH TV Tapings last night;

Ring Of Honor
October 1st, 2010- 8:00 pm belltime
The Arena (former New Alhambra Arena/ECW Arena)

1. The Briscoes beat Austin Aries & Rhett Titus after hitting the Doomsday Device on Rhett Titus. Said to be a really good opener to the show.

Kyle Durden is out to interview Christopher Daniels. They are addressing his upcoming World Title shot in Toronto. Daniels says "you may think you have the truth, but in this ring gospel trumps truth." Homicide inturrupts the promo, and apparently has a low opinion of Cornette calling him a "gringo."

2. ROH World TV Title Match: Eddie Edwards successfully defends against the Necro Butcher pinning him with a small package. Crowd said to be very vocal in their suppot of Edwards and disapproval of the Embassy.

3. Davey Richards defeats Shawn Daivari with a cloverleaf. There was no lead-in from the prior match.

Cornette is in the ring now with Roderick Strong and Truth Martini to talk about Final Battle and his match with Richards (there goes any doubts about Daniels losing in Toronto).

4. Daizee Haze vs. Sara Del Ray battle to a 10 minute, time-limit draw. Crowd said to be flat for this one.

5. TV Main Event: The Kings of Wrestling defend the World Tag Team titles against The Dark City Fight Club after hitting the European/Death Blow combo on Jon Davis. Clean victory, no elbow pad or interference

Dark Match: Bobby Dempsey, Andy Ridge, & Mike Sydal defeated Colby Godwin, Bobby Shields, & Slyk Wagner Brown w/ Sly Stetson when Dempsey pinned Godwin with a bridging fallaway slam.

6. Winner Gets A TV Title Match: Colt Cabana rolls up Erick Stevens for the win after a failed interference attempt from Nana & Osiris. Cabana vs. Edwards tomorrow night.

7. Kevin Steen defeats Grizzly Redwood after putting Generico's mask on Grizzly hitting the package piledriver. Prior to the match Steen was using Generico's mask as though it were a puppet.

Post-match, Steen challenges Generico to a match at Final Battle. If Steen wins Generico unmasks. If Generico wins Steen leaves ROH. Generico comes out in an all black mask and accepts!!

8. Kyle O'Reilly & Adam Cole defeated The Bravado Brothers via guillotine choke by O'Reilly on Harlem Bravado.

9. Homicide beats Tony Kozina with the Cop Killa

10. Holiday Gauntlet:

What's worth watching; well, it's a pretty good show all-round. Match 1 is a nice opening bout featuring a bunch of guys from Kensuke Office taking on grumpy old Taue's team. Match 2 is a pretty good singles competition, while Match 3 sees Inoue take on the huge-ass Yutaka Yoshie. Match 4 is a really enjoyable tag battle as the veteran Ogawa and his gaijin partner Bobby Fish (who is on a roll at the moment and looks great here) take on the ex-GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Champs Taiji Ishimori & Ricky Marvin. Match 5 is a great singles bout between two of NOAH's fastest rising stars, while Match 6 is similar to match 3 with the David vs Goliath dynamic as Yone attempts to fell the gaijin Bison Smith. Match 7 is another fantastic singles bout as Kanemaru defends the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title against KENTA. Match 8 sees Takayama & Sano defend the GHC Tag Titles against Kensuke Sasaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima - freaking AWESOME match, right here. If you haven't seen Nakajima in action, you're in for a treat. Match 9, the main event of the evening, is another quality singles bout as Takashi Sugiura defends the GHC Heavyweight Title against Go Shiozaki. Sugiura's title run has been fantastic, and Shiozaki is putting on amazing matches every show, this one being no exception. Check it out.
 
WWE are planning to add a bit more of an ‘entertainment’ aspect to SmackDown after it’s move to Syfy. The company feel this will help the show get back to the “same level” as RAW.

Ahh yes, what everyone has been craving for Smackdown to get as bad as Raw.

And in no way does Smackdown feel like a lesser show because you keep promoting Raw as your A-show and putting all your talent on it.

The name Zack Ryder is no different than John Cena. If it wasn't for his dad, the name Randy Orton screams jobber material, if you want to go down that path.

Ryder has the best catch phrase on RAW. Yes, better than the overly forced "I'm awesome!" and whatever crap Cena and Orton say/do.

You do have a point. "Zack Ryder" is no different than "John Cena", and if Randy Orton did not have his wrestling lineage, it would not have the same effect it currently has.

For example, Joe Hennig. See? If you go by his father Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig, you'll quickly think of his lineage and it's a name to take seriously -- but with the name change to Michael McGillaGorilla it sounds like a plain assed name.

Ryder was pushed to the stars in WWECW: it's a shame that push did not transition to his position at RAW. I love the gimmick, but it's probably mid-card at best; I'd wish they'd let him shine more. Yet another example of good on the mic, decent in ring but not utilized.

Ryder can be a nice low to mid card kind of guy. Right now he isn't used, a complete jobber, or a joke character. Same way Goldust and Regal are used and they're two of the best workers on RAW.

I'm not saying Ryder doesn't have potential. But he's got one dumbass gimmick right that that will never get him past the lower midcard.

I love his gimmick, it was pretty over in ECWWE. He's one heck of a wrestler and if given a legit push I could see him pretty good upper midcard guy.

His gimmick isn't any worse than many other guys on the show. Look at Ted. He stinks on the mic and shows little to no charisma. You can't have that combo with his current setup.

I rather he's dropped the Million Dollar title, Maryse goes back doing who cares what, and make him just be a scrappy, heel wrestler.

Agree with Bill. He has the talent and work ability. Really no reason he, or guys like Goldust or Regal are charades.

That's because they made Ryder's character basically just being an idiot from Jersey. If they just accentuated the Jersey Shore parts of his character and made him a conceited douchebag who thinks he's hot shit because he's from New Jersey(which his ECW character was) then he could easily be upper-midcard. That's no worse than Dolph Ziggler.
 
Yeah I don't know why Ryder isn't pushed more since his gimmick is basically guido-lite and Jersey Shore is one of the most popular shows on TV. He's pretty good in the ring and has solid mic skills, yet he's a total jobber. He's still young though (25), so they could get serious with him in the future. Right now his gimmick is purely midcard, but a ton of guys had go nowhere midcard gimmicks before they became main eventers.

I liked him in ECW, but he's different now than he was then. The Zach Ryder that's on TV right now is horrendous -- dare I say cringe worthy -- to watch. Change his character up a tad, and he'd be great.

At least they're going with the injury angle rather than him abruptly just leaving after a loss or something. The way that was handled seems to point to the fact he got his contract straightened out like he wanted, but still wanted to take some time off. So instead of him leaving the WWE after he lost, he got punted, and will logically be out for a while. I look for him to come back by the Rumble. Perhaps even win it, and challenge Orton at WM. God...if Orton has the belt by then, I'm going to shoot myself.

Not really. Look at Punk. The man should be headlining Wrestlemania. He's jobbing to Undertaker. Anyone that goes to SmackDown will either job to 'Taker or Super Rey. I'm surprised Alberto has held on as long as he has.

He should be headlinin Mania?
I like Punk as much as the next guy, and he is a pretty over heel, but I don't think he has Mania status at the moment, and its not because he continues to job to Taker or Rey. (Who incidentally would be his two prime opponents if he did main event WrestleMania)

I think Punk needs a mega hot storyline/feud with a top face to really escalate him to the top. The problem is the WWE is running low on faces especially once you get past the main event level.

Punk's ideal foil was Jeff Hardy. They could have had a prolonged rivalry for years that could have rivalled Rock-Austin or Cena-Edge and kept both stars at the main event level. Sadly, it was not to be and the only other potential guy that Punk could have had something special with was the charisma vacuum, John Morrison.

Best case scenario now for Punk would be to continue to job until Danielson switches shows, The Miz goes face or to work out some kind of elaborate double-turn program with Cena.

There is NOTHING for him on SmackDown outside of jobbing and/or meaningless back-and-forth programs with MVP/Kaval.

Kofi - Punk had a bunch of decent matches, I wouldn't mind a feud, apart from that, there's not much for Punk on WWE, PG actually limits hes character and also the gimmick of hes possible rivals.
 
zack ryder > every single sons of "legends" they have , maybe except for dashing.

only people who dont like/get his character are cenation marks

There has been talk of them potentially going live the weekends of PPVs, however last time I read something on it that hadn't been finalized. I could see them doing that tho.
 
How is it that TNA is picking up ratings, yet WWE is losing them? WWE Creative made the worst smackdown in memory, and has destroyed Raw and NXT :\
