Note that these batches aren't the "July, then August, then September" batches, they are doing a number of smaller batches to make sure everything is working before going with the huge automated shipments.

If I don't get mine this month I'm not sure what I'll do. I'm away from the 5th to the 15th of August and it will almost definitely arrive in that period. Might cancel if I don't hear by next week and reorder so I get it in september.

I plan on hosting a major event for friends and family and anyone else who wants to try it once I get mine. I move back to school on August 25th, so as long as I get it before then, you're welcome to come. I'll come back to this post and PM you the details once I get my shipping confirmation.
 
Haha, I can almost feel the hype of you guys just by reading this. While I'm holding out for the consumer edition you're making me want to get dk2 now.
 
Mine is now switched again from READY to PROCESSING. Good stuff!

Can't wait to get my hands on it. Also really excited for all you guys who ordered DK2 without getting to try DK1 or any modern VR device. Prepare to have your minds blown!
 
Trying to decide if I should wait for CV, or just buy the DK2.
I have never tried any VR devices, but am completely sold on the idea.
I have an i5 2500K stock, and an AMD 7950.
I know I can run the DK2 at optimum settings with this setup,
but I don't think I could run the CV1 at optimum.
The idea just makes me excited like I am a child again, not a grown man.
I want to get in on this ASAP, and who am I kidding,
I will probably make a DK2 order the moment you guys start posting your impressions!

(Still have to persuade my wife.)

If you are someone who likes tinkering with things and doesn't mind testing out mostly small, rough demo software, then by all means go for it. The main deterrent right now is just available software. Especially deep, polished experiences. They are few and far between at this stage. But even some of the small demos are amazing. It's truly getting in on the ground floor of a new medium, seeing what works and what doesn't work, and enjoying an unfinished but incredible bleeding edge technology.

I do like to tinker, and I already know a few demo's and things I hope will be updated to the new SDK. What I really am Jonesing for, is to play Elite: Dangerous with it. That is going to be something I predict will knock me to the floor.
Joystick, Rift, E:D = Gaming Nirvana (to me at least.)

I wouldn't do that; you've got no idea when you'd actually get your re-order from the very back of the queue. They've said on the forums before that you can contact customer support to hold your order, then get back in touch when you're ready and they'll put you in the next batch to ship.

Don't have the link to hand, sorry, but if you search through cybereality's posts on the dev forums you should find that post pretty quick.
 
Scandinavia: All my orders (5 DK2's, for dev team) made between 8:30 and 8:59 have now been charged and are ready to be shipped. :)

Europe too, seems like I missed the first batch by about 30 min ( 09:47am :cry: ) , which is actually better than I expected.

Crossing finger that the next batch is next week. ^ ^

You guys have 1-2 weeks to make me some incredible demo !

Thanks for telling me this! I'll contact them next week, before I leave, if it hasn't shipped by then.
 
Just got the email my 9:57am (day 1 / US) order is about to ship. Extra happy because i was resigned to being in the second batch. :)
 
I guess I'm also in the first batch. (Unless the 1st batch already shipped?) Pleasantly surprised.
