Odama

stuck my tongue deep inside Atlus' cookies
seriously though, wtf.

I think the entire world seems to have forgotten about this game. It was fun as hell at E3. I spent more time with it than any other individual title. I remember railing at our staff meeting for like half an hour to try to get it as many E3 awards as I could.

What happened? JP release date? American release date? Have we heard ANYTHING about it since E3?

hahaha when i saw your thread i was like "holy shit, someone is caring about this game?"
I picked up my curiosity but... we don't know shit more about the game than you do probably lol

I'm trying not to think about it, because I'm hanging for it.
I'm waiting to be surprised with info / release dates.. :D

I've been anticipating it ever since I heard about it. But I have a sneaking suspicion it's not going to make a US release...if it even comes out there. I have no proof of that of course, it just seems a niche game like this has little chance at this point. Sure hope I'm wrong.

The Vivarium Web site doesn't really have any Odama information that I can find.

I believe The Tower SP ships for GBA this month and Yoot Saito will be presenting/appearing at E3 for the "Genre Blending: Careening Beyond the Status Quo Toward New Levels of Innovation" conference session, so at least they haven't dropped off the face of the planet.

EDIT:

Yikes. Just read this forum post on Japanese Gaming . No source posted.

Vivarium who announced Oodama (big ball) for the Gamecube, has stated they're changing their plans. Considering the market share that the NDS and other portable systems are taking, they've stopped production. In lieu of this, they will start development on the NDS platform of Kodama (small ball).

Now, to cry.

when was that post made?

I'd like to nip this in the bud and say that while I can't directly disprove it, I can't find a single source confirming Japanese Gaming's post inside or outside of Japan.

And I've been looking real hard.

I'm with jgkspsx in thinking this is the tail end of an obscure April Fools. Oddly, "Gaijin Punch" doesn't even know what Odama is.

Weird. I actually pre-edited my first post because I said something along the lines of "it would be a great idea on the DS" or something.

Im actually looking forward to it in any form though the DS version sounds interesting...

What really surprised me was that Odama was featured as one of Nintendo's key titles in E3, with the big tower with logo graphic and overhead plasmas. It seemed to be there out of courtesy to NCL. They had even carried wierd shit to there, some swords and made up history about Odama.

Japanese marketing managers are into that kind of funny stuff. I was working once with one who wanted to have dioramas in all our events. They were damn cool, though.

It was one of their "big pillar" games I guess, but it was still incredibly out of the way. Facing the back wall like it was it was literally possible to explore N's entire booth and miss it.

I did exactly this at E3 last year. :(
