Oddworld Strangers Wraith.

I know this is a bit late but the game has only been out a week or so in the UK. Anyway this for me is the most impressive Xbox game from a graphical stand point. It starts off being pretty impressive and gets better as you progress to the point where its very impressive. From a graphical stand point everything is done so well, the binocular effect is excellent. The game itself leads with the live ammo and the stratgegies that can be formed by using different animals and is really well balanced. I have enjoyed up until now but its slightly let down in that its very linear even though the levels are fairly expansive and bounty hunting theme tends to get repetitive. Even so I'm glad I bought the game and from technical standpoint, whoever developed the 3d engine should be congratulated.

I tried it for about half an hour at the weekend, but I found it really uninteresting. If it weren't so acclaimed I doubt I would have bothered for more than 5 minutes. I'll concede it looks pretty, but that's not enough.

I absolutely loved the game. I found the combat to be deeper and more rewarding than a good number of other FPS titles and the actual 3rd person action was fantastic. It starts out a bit slow, but it really picks up and most of the missions are very well designed.

I also agree that it is one of the most beautiful titles on XBOX. The forest area that comes up a bit later is damn near Far Cry levels of density while offering better looking foliage. That great Oddworld visual design really shines through. I really loved the appearance of the second town, for instance.

It's a brilliant game. Funny and well-written, beautiful art design and graphics, an ideal mix between action and puzzle... I'm generally positive when it comes to the state of video games, but the lack of love and sales this one gets DOES make me think this whole industry is going to hell and in the future we'll just keep getting slight variations on the same 5 best selling games. Fuck. :(

The graphics did look good, but everything seemed so lifeless, none of the plant life or anything moved or anything,I love how alive the jungle in MGS3 felt.I'll take that over a bunch of non moving objects any day...

But anyways,I felt the game was way too damn repetitive and highly overrated.I gotta stop listening to GAF hype when a game first comes out :lol

I would have completely slept on this game if my buddy hadn't picked it up. He even called me from the store and asked me how it was received. I told him it was an Oddworld game, probably the usual puzzling/platforming, etc. But I checked the reviews real quick and found out it was a well-regarded 3rd person shooter. Now he says it's a great dose of kickass on par with Metal Arms.

Maybe that was part of the problem saleswise, fans of shooters are not going to look to the Oddworld franchise, and the fans of the franchise might not care for a shooter. I don't think the publisher did a good job of positioning this game. It just kind of released under the radar.

EA's advertising and marketing for this game has been pathetic. That was to be expected for a non multiplatform title, unfortunately.

I thought the game was just plain great. I really had a ton of fun playing. The gameplay mechanics were pulled off just right too.

One of my favorite XBox games...stellar visuals, awesome gameplay

only problems are that it's a bit short and has little replay which is probably the reason why the forum was quiet on this game recently :(
