Because it looks like his head is on backwards. Masterchief's helmet facing one way and then the body facing the other. Once you see it, you can't unsee it kind of thing.

I'm really surprised this made the final cut and no one said anything about it to be honest...

Huh... Yeah, I do see it now. It's like one of those "Do you see and old or young lady?" images. I can see why you don't like that.

Definitely do prefer the "traveler" cover.
 
All I want right now is to be able to boot the Alpha up and take new pictures :( but we can't.

I was thinking about what really engaged me within this game. And, although the PVP is fun, Strikes and Story mode were awesome, it was the Exploration mode. I just loved dropping into Old Russia and gazing at the landscapes and structures and finding new things to see. Yeah, the world is littered with enemies but it wasn't overwhelming and I could easily hover right past them if I wanted.

I think this is what I've always wanted in a game. I know it's primarily an FPS, but the Adventure part of it is so good because of the environment/art design. Here's hoping FFXIV can hold me over till Beta :)
 
Dinklage needs to be on the front cover too, like in the corner somewhere with a Ghost hovering just above his hand whilst sitting in a high backed chair looking at you all serious yet aloof.

I like how it gives it a mysterious feeling that an old school sci-fi novel would have.

But yea, people wouldn't know that's a shooter when placed on the shelf.
 
Does anyone know about kill times?

Specifically, how many shots from the hand cannon (head vs body etc) and how many bursts from the rifles?

Has anyone worked out how they rank against each other?
 
Hey urk. Is there going to be any limited / collectors edition? I'm close to paying for a PSN pre order and don't want to waste my cash.
 
I was wondering how I could deal with the withrdrawl and then Hayashi saves me, how are you guys passing the time? DOA5u has my full attention so I don't miss it I can wait. :)

Maybe I worded it wrong. I meant to say that I hope the game ends up looking very close to the concept art, because there are some really good shots that I'd love to see in-engine like the second picture.
I'm amazed that they captured the depth and scale of the city in the Tower skybox, even though it looked a bit low-res in the alpha.


I think the last shot is in-engine, but aside from the slightly "muddier" feeling, it looks very close to the concept above it, which I'm assuming is where the "vault of glass", or this raid area is located:

Can't wait for the game though and like everyone else playing the alpha made my interest in the game doubles!
 
I second this. This cover matches the minimalist/flat feeling of the interface, by the way, which is cool.

I think there will be plenty of good alt covers we'll be able to print out ahead of time and slip it in day one. Look forward to seeing GAFer contributions in the Custom Cover thread.

In fact I think I'm going in for a custom cover for all of my retail PS4 discs going forward-- barring some amazing cover art.

That picture is missing the bottom part though (same area as where the watermark is on the other one).

Upon reexamination it even appears to be the same picture, they just tried to cut of the watermark but left a small part of it on. lol

Oh yeah now i see it, but i think ist ok to cut the bottom part because there is nothing interesting anyway.

Here's hoping in game Mars looks half as badass as that concept art. Rolling sand dunes, glimmering in the light... I'm getting Journey flashbacks.

True, but I assumed Dax01 was looking for the clean original, instead of a cropped picture. But seemingly she is happy with the one you found, so yeah..
