Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

The plot thickens...

First time entering the thread since it was first made, had to catch up on this edrama. You guys are too much sometimes GAF.

Thinking more about the Darkness and the enemy factions, it seems to me that specific factions control / patrol specific planets. The Fallen are based on Earth, the Hive on the Moon, the Cabal on Mars, and I presume the Vex on Venus. The Fallen are apparently also on the Moon, but probably only because they are fighting with the Hive based there ( after the Hive somehow broke free from their prison ).

Any other cases of multiple factions in the same area known as of now ( besides Fallen / Hive )?

Do we know what The Darkness is yet? Is it the creatures contained on the Moon? The Fallen?

I could of swore somebody posted in the Alpha impressions thread banners of the enemies which featured their silhouettes including the Darkness. I might go digging in the thread to try and find it...

I think maybe we will run into Fallen on most planets. From Destinypedia:

While the Fallen often squat in abandoned facilities on various worlds such as Earth, the Moon, and Europa, they are nomadic and therefore have no permanent strongholds in these regions, but instead call their starships home. According to the Fallen themselves, they have claimed every planet and moon that humanity once held.

I'm watching the latest trailer again, and I got curious about the dots beside the planets and moons. What could they mean?

They were a part of the original ARG reveal for Destiny. We had to click the Diamonds to arrange them into specific patterns in order to unlock each days subsequent puzzle. I don't recall if we ever discovered what their exact meaning was beyond being an unlock code to the puzzle.

Not from what I've seen.

Does anyone know what the hell the orbs do? I was looking at my alpha stats and saw dropped and collected orbs. I don't recall ever seeing anything about that.

When you use your super and successfully kill enemies, you drop Orbs of Light. Only other players in your Fire Team can pick them up (you can't pick up your own). The orbs give a boost to the super meter, so your team can use their supers sooner.

Watching some old footage to learn more about the lore I noticed there was a different menu back then. I guess this was before they had the planet maps seen in the alpha?

Question; do Supers generate Orbs based on the amount of kills you make with them? If so, that would make the Golden Gun even more underpowered compared to the others than it already is...

The most I've gotten is 4 orbs. I've seen people get up to 8 orbs. Titan and Warlock can get huge multikills in the Crucible if an opposing team is all huddled in one capture point. But the Hunter focus also has Golden Gun upgrades that allow for penetration and for enemies hit by it to explode, so eventually Golden Gun can get crazy multikills.

Wonder what the bounties are and if they'll be in the final game.
Bounties actually were in the Alpha. There was an android in the Tower that you could go to for both Crucible and Vanguard bounties. Bounties for the Crucible were stuff like 'Get an undying medal' or 'Get 50 assists', Vanguard bounties were for Explore / PvE and consisted of stuff like 'Complete a Strike without dying' or 'Kill 10 Fallen leaders'. Rewards for completing a bounty were XP points, Crucible marks or Vanguard marks ( depending on the type of bounty ) and Glimmer.

I don't think the fallen are controlled by the darkness. At the end of the video with Jason Jones, you can see 2 fallen guarding the (I think) queen of the awoken.

Bounties are probably "kill this specific mob." Some of the random quests in exploration mode were like that.

There were some bounties like "kill 10 Fallen Generals" but there were also Bounties like "get 100 headshots in the wild" or "get 100 melee kills", etc. There is a lot of variation.

I think there will be a separate enemy controlled by the Darkness. As shown here where a Fallen and Cabal are marching together with similar light and fog coming from the body:

The Golden Gun is very powerful if used right. Plus if you checked out the skill tree it only gets better with explosions. :D

Well we don't know exactly where the Awoken's allegiance lies. The Awoken are the result of something that happened when The Darkness attacked and it changed some of Humanity that were not on Earth. A few returned to Earth and allied with us, the rest ended up at The Reef and formed whatever society is there. Why they chose to stay apart from us and what their plans are, are still unknown. They could be a working for The Darkness in some manner or even out for themselves. So having a few Fallen in their ranks for protection could mean any number of things.

I actually think it was glitched. I'm 100% certain that I completed a full Strike without dying on at least two occasions, one on Brave, the other on Legend, yet I was unable to turn the bounty in.

The whole team had to survive the strike without dying, not just you. Pretty hard bounty to get.

Where is the stuff about the reef from? I've read bits and pieces about the awoken, but nothing about the reef. Love the lore stuff around this game.

I forgot to turn mine in, we all survived xD

Just sent out 30 friend requests, so cumbersome on ps4. Took me ages lol.

Hah yeah my phone went off for the PS app and saw it was a friend request. Thanks for putting in your GAF id otherwise I wouldn't of known who it was!

Grimoire question but only a few could actually be read right? Most of the ones in the Alpha were redacted just for the Alpha correct?
