Official Fable II Thread

For those playing, did you merge your pub games character-if so, how do you get the items you unlocked by winning the tournaments? I saw my gold transferred over but I can't find the items.

Teknoman said:
Can you actually get all items, or do the rewards overwrite each other?

Yes, you can get all of them.

Anyone know how to have sex with your wife after the first time? She was ready and willing after we got married and she got a ring and a house, but now she won't warm up to me...

Also, are there attractive females or do they all look to be around 225 pounds?

Okay the FUCK.

I have one tab open for OT, and one for the Gaming side. I clicked on this thread, read some OT, then came back and thought I was still on the OT side. This is like a nightly thread over there. :lol

That's what you get for dipping your hero sword into a dirty hatchet wound.

:lol :lol :lol Dude SanjuroTsubaki you are my hero. I'm fucking laughing like crazy over your posts. Seriously you need to start a blog or something as you play this.

Quick question for those playing as a thief. Has anyone run into a Thieves Guild yet? I'd like to steal but I need to know if I can fence my loot.

So I was at Bowerstone's Market Square and this guy was holding an auction for some sweet items he had... he was naming the items when suddenly this other guy interrupts and says: "so does anyone know how to get rid of STDs? And get the flies off of you?" Guess who it was, lol.

Also, I just killed nine guys with one spell... sick.

:lol Wow...so awesome. It seems kinda sad though that once the game is released to the masses you'll lose that sense of intimacy or community. Instead it'll just be insanity. :/

Nah, it just chooses like 64 people off the net at random (or your friends list) unless you invite, right?

Yeah, I am kind of worried about that. But it'll still be fun for sure. It is cool, though, to see a name in the Town Square and then run into that person, like, four hours later at another town.

Also, I have maxed out my Shock spell and its radius is crazy huge and I can kill anyone in one hit. I was fighting this boss guy that looked like he was going to be really tough, and I just charged it up and it KO'ed him. Haha. That's the only problem, though - charging it up takes, like, six full seconds.

I'm getting better! All it takes is a positive attitude and some tofu.

*Scratch that. Being evil cures you. I took my clothes off and I have colored veins all over my body and horns.

While that sounds cool...it is a little scary to know that you can kill a boss with one shot...that pretty much "may" mean the game is too easy like the first game. I just hope that later the enemies get harder as you progress. There is nothing worng with a challenging game, but if it is too easy, it takes away from it.

Ahh, just found out that you get all the items you unlocked in pub games by visiting a game master in any pub in the game. There is one in the first major city you visit.

Maybe with the GAF exclusive friends list we can keep that same atmosphere. It'll be neat to talk to each other through orbs and track each other's progress.

Was the money you transferred glitched? If so, any negative consequences or was it just a bluff?

I first merged my character through pub games and my gold was available as soon as I loaded my Fable 2 save. I had roughly 200k and I didn't see any negative consequences yet. I read it effects your purity level, but I haven't checked. Merging your character through Pub Games does not transfer the items, you need to do that in the main game.

Sweet thanks for the info

Fine by me. Got enough people on my friends list who will probably have Fable 2 plus GAF members.

Aw, man... Lucky you with your review copies, Caspel. :) Can you give us more in-depth impressions once you progress a bit further, though? I mean - how's the atmosphere, the gameplay, the story ( so far -- without spoilers, of course! ), and so on...?

I'll admit that I was scared that the dog would be an addition that wouldn't be worth its merit, but so far, the dog allows me to concentrate on fighting and going to location to location, rather than doing what I do in most RPGs, and that's treasure hunting for hours upon hours. The dog finds it for me and when he barks, I stop in my tracks and turn around to see where he found the hidden treasure.

The combat is seamless and fun. I love being in melee combat and seeing guys approach me from behind and turn around Iron Man style and blast them with a fire ball, then immediately follow it up by returning to melee combat with the enemies in front of me.

It's great. The menus are easy to navigate through for the most part, the quests are entertaining, and the majority of the NPCs are fully of chatter and dialogue that creates a living world to embark through.

Doed the game seem too easy though? that is one of my biggest concerns is if the game is challenging or not. I am not sure if anyone asked, but is there a difficulty selection when starting the game?

Thanks for the impressions....

The combat is somewhat average. Having you unlock depth was a bad idea.

Okay a few notes

- I feel the english are pretenious
- English accents annoy me
- not a fan of the whole cobblestone , forrest and whole whismical fantastical setting
- i do not like games that are for toddlers aka most wii games
- Im not a huge RPG guy

so with that said.

I am really loving this game, the spells are easy to use both direct and multiple attacks, they are upgradeable, as well you have abilities that are also upgradeable as well. So its fable you know what to expect - core storyline, side missions and life your life activities.

The Animations in this game are really the standout above everything followed by the Musical Score / Sound Effects and the absolute gripping and entertaining story. The story is without a doubt on level with fantasy stories like lord of the rings and harry potter.

Gameplay is very good, lots of situational attacks 1 button combat, but it feels fresh all the time because of the dramatic animations but both the weilder of the sword and the person being attacked. Everything is pretty Simple you got a button for your Ranged weapon, a button for your melee weapon, a button for your spells and the rest of the buttons are modifiers for your 3 core buttons x,b,y.

The game is very satisfying for many reasons, think god of war and star wars force unleashed, every strike, every fire of a weapon and every time you use a spell on youre enemy the outcome of the animations, look and animate very well. So in most games in actuality you have to press many more buttons in this on you do less in gameplay that most standard movie games require.

Even though this game does a lot, it does not do enough for me to overlook the theme and setting, so chances are i'll exchange this game with a friend for another, however if you don't mind the settng then there is no better RPG to on Xbox in 2008.

The game is on the easier so far but I have been knocked out three so far for being careless. The first time I was just aimlessly walking not wanting to use a potion and ran into a group of hobbes. One of the hobbes had this pink stink and I wanted to see go toe-to-toe with him since it was the first time I encountered one. Needless to say, after about 5 secs, with barely any health, I was knocked out.

Another time, the game kept telling me to upgrade my weapons and clothing, but I wanted to go into the next combat like it was Mass Effect and spam magic everywhere. Soon after entering the combat though, I was surrounded by about 7-8 bandits -- 3 with ranged weapons -- and I went down.

The last time,
I fought the headless hollow man
and was taken to school. I thought I'd fight him with melee combat and the enemy tore me to shreds.

I'm actually also pleasantly surprised with how the dog turned out. I thought he would just get in the way all the time and be super annoying, but it's really the opposite so far. I was actually entertained while playing fetch with old dogface(yes, that's what I named him) too, go figure.

Also agree on the combat, it's fairly simple but fun at the same time. Especially once you unlock some of the basic abilities like rolling and blocking. Adding that in with some of the area of effect spells, you can take out dudes pretty fast and efficiently.

While the menus are easy to navigate, I still think they could have done a better job on that. It still takes a bit to sort through the lists of junk. Also agree about the whole living world feeling. The first major city is dense, there is a lot of stuff going on. Vendors with their shops set up, kids running around, bums sitting on the ground waiting for my dog to pee on them, and shops galore. There is a lot of stuff to see and do, and the detail makes me want to take my time and look at everything.

Even though Peter M has said as much, considering everything i have seen i will be very surprised if this is accurate. I know how the Fable 1 story was and im not expecting much more here.

i just prefer realistic looking games with people from today or people in the future.

I wasn't a huge 8 bit gamer really, all i played on nes was mario 1, 2, 3 and wrestling and blades of steel.

Snes was wrestling games, mario and zelda.

I never really got into gaming huge until it started getting really cinematic.

Did Danny Elfman do the score for this game like he did for the first one?
If he didn't then I'd be surprised. It's one of the few scores where I've literally stopped and thought: this just has to be Elfman.

As far as the story goes, it has been pretty good. But I wouldn't say Harry Potter or LOTR level. At least... not yet. Words like solid and competent come to mind.

Some of the twists and the direction of cutscenes are done quite well, but the whole zoom in with the L Trigger thing is quite weird. With cutscenes its zoomed out unless you hold the L Trigger.

On a side note if MS would have made a card game addon like that eye toy fantasy game, that would have been huge for them.

So will my gf be able to be my partner and sit back and spam healing spells at me (she's not great for anything else tbh)? Will I be able to fornacate with her?

From what Purg3 said earlier it sounds like two different processes...so maybe?

Yeah, but story is one of the things that they've said they've made a point to try and improve. In a lot of the recent interviews Molyneux has been saying that the story in the first game was ass and they want to try to rectify that with this one.

We're lumping LotR in with Harry Potter these days, huh.
