Official Fable II Thread

The dog is an amazing invention. It's an NPC that follows you wherever you go, but never gets in your way and doesn't need protection, just care and attention and the occasional kissed boo-boo.

I haven't felt this way about an NPC since Agro.

Do they all start out the same dog?

So, two quick questions.

1) This is a question concerning something after you need to "do what you need to do before you leave".
When you come back, shouldn't you be getting 10 years worth of rent money, profits and so forth?

2) Relating to #1
Any real list or something to look out for as to what changed in those ten years? I haven't gotten to explore too much yet, but besides the Rookfield Inn being open now, I couldn't really tell too, too much.

To #1 - It would be nice, but it doesn't happen. Haha.

#2, and there be spoilers here, but...
If you were married and she was happy she will be waiting for you, and if you had a kid, he will have aged and no longer be a baby. If you invested in Westcliff, you will get that money plus 10 years of interest, and Westcliff will no longer be a slum. In Oakfield, there is a new housing development. Where there once was only one or two homes, now there is an entire neighborhood.
Also, seasons have changed and things in some places will look different because of that.

After my first four hours I am happy with the game. It is a bit shallow on fighting moments and I am just button smashing but I guess it is what it is.

Environments are fine and interesting with a lot of copy/past in the two dungeons I have seen but nothing oblivion like. Outdoors have been very interesting and much better. My dog "shithead" (anyone get where the name is from?) is very cool but he needs to grow a pair and not be scared so much.

I like the digging for treasure but I wish they would do less of them and make the drops a bit more interesting and worthwhile. And I still have no idea why someone would have crap in so many chests.

I have a feeling I am moving too quick and have decided to go back and do some extra quests and extras because I have this feeling this isn't going to be that long of a game and I should have rented it.

From what I have seen it's a solid 8.7 so far.

The manual states that your dog will progressively become more fearsome-looking or more regal depending on whether you're evil or good, respectively.

Which is fucking awesome.

Okay, I'm blacksmithing and I hear someone talking. Its gotta be someone on my friends list but I don't recall the voice. It sounds like he's talking to someone else. :lol

This game is awesome.

If you want to get all you can out of the game, explore, look for side quests, hidden dungeons, caves, etc. Also with fighting, its better to mix things up rather than button mash. Unless you're going for some super buff person or something.

That being said, even though I havent beaten the game, I have no idea why they keep making the main quest so short. Unless thats just a recent WRPG thing (Bioware and Bethesda...with ECIV anyway, are guilty of this as well).

My dog can sometimes be annoying. When we're in a fight and he gets hurt, he'll start whining to let me know that he needs to be healed... but sometimes the fight is really long (like against a troll or a boss that spawns enemies), so I have to listen to this stupid dog whine for what seems like an eternity - while I'm trying to concentrate on fighting. They should have made it so that he doesn't whine until there are no longer enemies around.

Man, what a game! I got around to my first real session last night, i had done up to finishing the lake tomb or whatever before that.

So last night, I go slay the Bandit dude, and then go to town.

Take a job at the blacksmith, become a master, earn mad bucks

Buy the merchant stands on the bridge and town square, as I'm doing this a crowd forms around me. I start dancing and flexing and the crowd loves it.

Then I BUST OUT THE HEAD of the bandit dude, and everyone starts ohhing and ahhing and going crazy. So freakin awesome!!

I married a lady and bought a house too!

What an amazing game. I wasn't on the hype train for this, so I didn't really know what I was in for, but I gave it a chance and I'm glad I did!

I think if the fable series had no hype behind it, people would be a lot happier with it, including reviewers. Think about it, a game like Fable 2 gets a soft release, people would be flipping out. We'd have 20 threads on gaf about the next greatest thing.

How do you learn kissing? I want to show the door a kiss. But I don't seem to have that one. I have "Blow a kiss" though. Is there a real kiss instead?

True but they wouldn't have MS's credit card for development also.

I think it's time to change the ol' avatar. I no longer want to believe ... I simply do.

Besides, everyone around Albion calls me Master Chief. How awesome is that? OY LOOKIE DAYRE ITS MASTAH CHIEF!

Can anyone detail the augmentation process for me?

Obtain a weapon with augment slot(s) (can be purchased later in the game), obtain an augment (can be purchased from Stone Cutters). Select weapon in inventory, place augment from list. ?????. Profit.

Blowing a kiss works. There is no kiss.

Killed everyone in Oakville for the evil people quest then a guard runs up to me and charges me for

35 murder
1 attempted
5 vandalism

Fine = 17800,so I took the community service which was to kill 3 Balverines lmao. Just thought it was a hilariously small task. Friend was doing coop with me at the time and the Evil transfered to his character too, he isn't happy
:lol

This game is great, the dog is just so loveable. Hope they change the coop and do dlc.

How can you tell if the weapon is augment-able if it is in your inventory?

There are small circles next to the name of the weapon if it's augmentable. It also says so on the weapon description.

You're probably absolutely right. But the real lesson is: who cares what they think? Let us enjoy one of the deepest single-player games of the year and let the haters hate.

Sounds good to me.

Also, I have clothing ADD on this game. I like the way the
assasin's coat
looks, but I don't want to have a bad reputation. Is there any clothing to aid you in battle (making enemies fearful, etc.)?

Does anyone have a good explanation of what bearing clothing has on your rep?

I think it's great how there isn't a kiss, but there is a bitch slap. Goes so well with Fable 2's strange.... atmosphere, I guess. As I had posted earlier, the game has a clear light-hearted fantasy/ye olde english theme but with all this various adult content stuffed in. It's a very striking contrast and works perfectly.

ok, can everyone just post thier 1-10 score for this game. i cant go through every post to see if they like the game, i would appreciate it if everyone also just ad a 1-10 score to the game and at the end of next week, someone or me can average the score from this page onwards

Damn.. I mean good. Time to take a trip with my new wife.

So I got married again. Second wife. Florica the Gypsy. She took to me quite well and eventually she wanted a ring. So I had her follow me (So I didn't lose her.. though I never had problems finding her before) on a quest to buy a ring. Finally found one in Bowerstone, at the Jewelry store I own. As soon as I got there I noticed she followed me of course, but I also noticed my other wife in the background. So I secretly got the ring and ran back off to the Gypsy camp to propose. We got married. Bought us a wagon (For now) and I finally convinced her to consumate the marriage. Unprotected this time. Because the game says she's pure and good. Which is good. Because we had a baby.

Apparently the bably is named Amy. Why can't I name it myself? I want to name it Natalie. *sigh*

As I'm standing in this cramped carriage, another gypsy walks in passed my new wife and says "I love you so much, if only I had a ring we could get married."

Yeah, okay. You look exactly like my other wife. And no, I'm not going to marry you too. (Yet)

Assassins coat doesnt mess you up too bad if your deed outweigh how you dress.

Course I would like to find some actual armor in the game as well.

I found a bad ass Assassin coat and wore it into town and one dude was like, "OMG an assassin!"

That got a rise out of me. I <3 the customization in this game, I just hope there are a ton of clothing options...

EDIT: :lol I didn't read your spoiler tag

graphics - 8.75 (beautiful art marred by slight glitchyness)
gameplay - 9 (satisfying combat + customization marred by a slight lack of "tightness" to the controls)

awesome game, just lacks a *touch* of polish

9.5 for me i guess. Im loving this game so far my only wish is for more loot and clothing and the inventory screen to be a little more easy to use. Wish i could skip work to play this. There is ALOT to do in the world and im not even close to being bored by the game.

My first wife was a prostitute. Her opinion of me actually goes up when I slap her.

You can rename almost every NPC in the game, including your family. LT, Y, X. My family IRL thought it was cute that I named my Fable family after them. I actually almost got in trouble last night when my real son ran in and told my real wife that I was cheating on them because I had my prostitute wife on the side.

I heard you take them back to your little wagon/caravan thing and bang them.

Unfortunately for me last night I got impatient and just killed them (dont drink and play rpgs), and now the damn guards in I forget which city are constantly attacking me.

I might restart my game idk

You just skip straight to the good stuff, huh? YOU SICK FUCK

:lol
What will happen if one wife sees you with another woman? Will she actually acknowledge your infidelity?

I know I saw this posted before, but I can't find it now. How much do you need to donate for the harvest part of the donations to the temple quest line?

NVM found it :lol

Yay! I took my new wife to the stone door and showed him a kiss. He gave me a house (It said it cost $33000, but it let me own it for free?) on a nice property called "Homestead". Of course I moved in immediately with my wife and kid. Much nicer than the other two houses I have so far.

How do you get people to give you gifts? I know alot of people that have the gift box on their like/dislike meter...but not sure how to get the gift.

They just have to like you enough and eventually the gift box above their head will light up, and all you do is go talk to them again to recive the gift.

I have sluthouse wives hoes giving me 25% discounts on all items in their store as gifts.:D

I might be selling Far Cry 2 for the PS3 today (I don't have a PS3) today for Fable 2 (If I can't get a direct exchange for Far Cry 2 360).

Should I do I? Is the game worth it?

Yes, maybe the best rpg this gen so far.

Good question. I came across a fellow whose gift icon was greyed out above his head, but located low on the fear/like meter.

I'm assuming that I would have to frighten him somehow in order to coerce him into giving me a gift. I tried it, but he laughed whenever I roared, slapped him, etc.

Needless to say I was unsuccessful.

1. Yes, friends will be green orbs
2. That im not sure of. I have heard a few people that seem like they are talking to themselves.
3. Nah its everyone by default and auto-join for if someone wants to jump in co-op with you. Just mess around in the options menu to change these.

Cool thanks for the answers
Its really weird that I dont see anyone beside my friends if its everyone by default...

Hmm, well just flip it to everyone in the options menu.

As far as gifts go, guess i'll have to keep messing with the stylist. Shes got a gift icon on the dislike-like meter.

Not sure how I increase the other 2 meters with people though. All the expressions seem to only increase the first meter.

NO.... the game so far has been terrible. The gameplay and combat are just bad. Avoid at all cost's.

GET THIS GAME NOW FOR FUCK SAKES

Yes. Thanks to the "Come hither" book the stone face gave me in my new house, I was able to get Alex to reluctantly have sex with me "Because of biological imperative" (i.e. to make babies) and we had another child.

I now have two wives with two baby girls in two towns who know nothing about each other. One hates sex, the other loves it.

I love this.

How long do babies take to grow up?

LT on the NPC and see which "bar" the gift is on. It could be like/dislike, fear, etc. Then see where on the bar the gift is. Sometimes you need to make the NPC dislike or fear you more. Once their opinion of you lines up the gift, hit A to accept it. Or you could just kill them.

Did this game have much hype behind it? The major amount of complaints are coming from people too fucking stupid to literally understand the features the devs directly tell them about. The games fun doesn't derive from it's difficulty, the co-op was always intended to be a way to play with a friend, not have a friend bring their hero into your game.

The issue with Fable 2 is the same issue that all 9-10 games have. If doesn't meet the exact specifications somebody has of a good/perfect game they feel the need to whine about it over the interwebs.
