Official Fable II Thread

I thought I was so badass getting to start with the pistol, mysterious ring and 50K from playing Pub Games, but the pistol isn't very good, the ring is just a gift and the 50K got spent in 2 or 3 stores buying clothes and whatnot! :lol

What properties early on are worth investing in? I'd better buy a few with the rest of my cash early...

Okay, I have come back and met me wife Alex and our 9 year old daughter Ella.

Now to go meet my other wife. The one I actually care about. :lol

I need help with one achievement:

I currently have 2 children and 6 strangers all surrounding me because I just stood there and kept dancing. I want that "make 5 villagers dance with you" achievement. How do I do it?
I don't know if all this is necessary, but I did it in an inn (near a bard). I played my lute and then danced with a bunch of people around me (I think I had to the do max expression on the dance) and I got it.

I bought a bunch of stalls in Old Bowerstone. The weapons, clothes, potions, and some others. Figure I'll get discounts from them when I want to buy more stuff, and they bring in some money. Also got the celery stand in the market place. I think I have 6 or 7 stands, prices raised 60%, and it gives me 339/5 mins. They were all pretty cheap too, 2k-5k.

as a guy who doesnt like rpgs much these days and isnt into mini-game esque activities described here (marrying women, sex parties, farting, dog tricks, real estate, etc), whats the odds i'd like this game?

i played and disliked the first. nothing was explicitly wrong with it aside from the utter lack of a feeling of exploration. i assume this is completely erradicated in the sequel? how is the main quest itself, or even the sidequests that arent about stupid shit (see above)?

I can't say for certain, but you probably get more actually. There are bonuses for how quickly you finish off enemies, and that is one of the quickest ways.

The mill is included as part of the property of the house nearby. It says so in the description of that house. If you buy it, you own the mill as well.

Thanks. I'm off to buy the mill...

Yeah I think I'll buy some of those too. I have to keep myself away from the game master, I'm so tempted just to waste the rest of my money on spinnerbox and hope for the jackpot....I know I can do it!

Does anyone know how many regions there are in the game? I have only unlocked 7 regions so far according to my "Quests/Maps" screen, I hope there are a lot more than that...

This game should have included a full map of the world with the manual, like Oblivion, Crackdown, GTA4, etc.

The exploration element is pretty good in Fable 2. Even the villages are huge. For Oakfield to just be a "small farm community"...its really spread out. Its like that feeling you get when you hit a new town in an MMORPG. At least for me anyway. FFXI really conveyed that.

Ok yesterday i just screwed around with the character, good/evil corrupt/pure and all that what not. But today i think i finally hit the stride with the game and made it to the arena section of Fable 2 and had some fun. Overall feeling better about this game than yesterday.

LOL

Somebody sent me a blackmail letter because I cheated on my wife.

Dear Adulterer,

You are a dastardly fiend and must therefore pay the price for your infidelity. I propose the sum of 2,000 gold. I give ou a deadline of five days from the receipt of this letter to pay the money in full. Bring the money to Bowerstone Market. You'll find a lowly stooge called Kenneth waiting for you under the bridge. If you kill Kenneth or the deadline expires, then I will inform all of your partners of your unfaithfulness.

Yours Sincerely,

D

The writing in Fable 2 and the humor reminds me of those classic PC adventure games that were funny as hell and charming to boot. We don't see very much of it anymore.

Best pics of my character I could manage at this point:

Just spotted Purg3 in Oakfield. Think he said something, but not sure if he can hear me.

I just went and paid the blackmail and it came up with this message afterwards:

"You got away with it! After all, it's not really your fault you're a bigamist. You probably forgot you were already married. Right? RIGHT?!"

I love this game. :lol

I have yet to try it for myself, but
it seems you're supposed to donate 10k at noon and you receive a weapon.

It was 10k at noon the first time, so I'm wondering if it's the same the second time around.

I bought this yesterday, but midterms prevented me from diving in until today. Much more fun than I was expecting, as just a casual fan of the first game. The towns and worlds are huge, and I love running around getting my dog to find me treasure. The writing's hilarious too. So addicting, I just can't stop playing, too bad I need to split the time between me and my roommate :(.

I also I heard it was 30k for the second, but that wasn't even remotely confirmed, and I'm hoping it's just plain wrong. :P

Well, I decided on picking up Fable 2 over Fallout 3 for the time being, and I must say... I don't regret it one bit.

There is just something real special about this game. It just throws me back to those days of playing Earthbound and Chrono Trigger on my SNES. It's just... fun. And when I'm not playing it, I wish I was. Bravo, Lionhead, well done. :D

Oh, except I didn't get my DLC card in my LE... come on Microsoft! How many more LE/CEs are you going to screw up?!

Just raised all my prices 100% in Bowerstone and I'm making 14000 every 5 minutes now. :D

Need to go do the others in diffrerent towns. I want to get as much money as possible and own EVERYTHING.

How do you increase the second and third meters with people? The gestures that you would think applied to those, only apply to like and dislike.

At first I thought your guy was wearing sunglasses.

Oh, and people, post more pics of your characters!

So, is there a blacksmith where I can buy cool armor, instead of clothy shit?

Apparently the closest thing the game has to what looks like armor are Ranger items. At least thats what I read on the community forums. Kinda sucks too, since Peter said he didnt want everyone to look the same.

Wasn't there plate/mail type armor in the first Fable? I vaguely remember there being some.

I wish I wasn't being a good guy so I could do things like that.

Most of all I want to slaughter all those stupid bitches who follow me around towns.

Yeah I remember that too (only played a little of Fable 1, but I know I saw it). Kinda added to your scaryness/fearful factor right? I really hope its not gone and people just havent looked hard enough.

I'm still good. It just gives you corrupt points.

Mix it up. Good guys get pissed off too. I roared in the face of someone who dissed my gloves.

Seriously, is there any easy way to tell which properties you own, or do you have to check them all if you don't remember.

Your corruption is going to be through the roof lol. I should try this since I need money, but I just got my halo around my head :\

Also put some augments in my blade so I get gold now for every kill.

Is fatness only displayed in the appearance tab and is it only 0 or a negative number?
