ugh this game looks so unappealing to me

plus I refuse to play any game with a fart action.
Thanks for coming in to the official thread and letting us all know. Keep us updated.

I would think so... I don't think you can have separate saves on the same gamer profile, but like if you use GhaleonEB and she uses LittleGhaleonEB as her profile, then it'd make sense that she'd have a separate save.

Are you positive that you can't have multiple characters on one profile? One of the big things with the original was playing again as a different alignment and with a different specialty. I'd be really surprised if they took that out.

Wait, maybe you can. I just noticed that you have a "New Game" and a "Continue" option on the main menu.

As creator of this thread I demand someone get me a copy before the weekend as reward for my hard work. I want this game so much and I have a long weekend which would be perfect for it.

Game looks great so far... I am still not quite 100% sure. I havn't played the first Fable and don't know anything about the main story in this game. Since story is one very important fact for me... does anyone know "how good" it is and how long it roughly takes to complete the main story?
Besides the combat does look a bit too simple to me as far as I can tell from videos. However, I heard it should actually be deep and very rewarding because of the "easy to learn, hard to master" mentality...

Well, anyway I guess I am just writing down my thoughts as a help to convince me to open a new window and press that "Buy Fable II: Limited Edition" button... and since I have a week off starting next Thuesday, I might as well do it, right?

I'll personally make it my mission to mess up the life of any Albion resident that gets close to blackface.

Anyway this is the kid/ basic skin tone I was talking about:

There are already a few impressions on the last page and the one after that. I recommend reading up on those. Also, you will have the reviews coming out eventually (20th?) to gather even more info. Personally I take the people who are posting their impressions as a viable source of info which is why I'm pleased and thankful that they are choosing to do so. I'm sure those folks who are posting impressions will continue to do so as they progress through the game. If you can't decide by those, then I would probably just rent the game instead of purchasing it so you could get a hands-on before putting down the money for ownership.

If you have enough money in the budge for it, since you know Fallout 3 comes out a week later.

I really like the orbs of the other players around you in the game.

Does anyone know if this works with silver accounts too? Sounds really nice, but I´m not upgrading to gold for this.

Reading the last few pages of this thread shot my hype through the roof. That immergent gameplay is awesome. I can't wait to be playing with you kids come next week.

I've never even heard of these 'chat' features...

Has Lionhead or Peter, himself, ever mentioned it? Either way, holy shit, awesome.

Psychotext said:
Probably not. His PR handlers would have beaten him with a hose. :lol
With the way Peter is, he's probably been blue in the face from holding it back all this time.

"SHIT!! CHAT FEATURES!! ANYONE, ANYWHERE ON XBOX LIVE!! ORBS WITH GAMERTAGS!!!! NEVER BEFORE LIKE THIS!!"

He hasn't talked about a number of things this time around, apparently.

Holy. Shit. I just broke down and got Dead Space and before that SH:Homecoming and Fallout 3 comes out in two weeks and Left 4 Dead comes out two weeks after that.

WHERE IS THERE TIME?

Friends, family, school, work...these are mere obstacles in the way of playing more games.

That's not fair. That's not fair at all. There was time now. There was, was all the time I needed...

it's taking all my strength not to break down and watch all the videos on YT from people who got it early. Then again, the beginning isn't all that spolierific(made that up) so I may just break and watch.

GAME IS GOOD (so far)!

Childhood is entertaining, but nothing special. Once you hit adulthood however the game really comes into it's own. The dog mechanics are great (having it bark near chests, dig spots, etc) and the combat system is so far a lot of fun. Some choices made as a child seem to have a sizable effect on some areas in adulthood.

First city area is fucking brilliant. I just spent 2 hours in it not advancing the plot at all, just exploring and making some gold at the blacksmith's, listening to the burd sing and show me around, buying a cool outfit, hairstyle, courting a woman, buying a ring and getting engaged. Everything is buyable (just as advertised), I'm trying to save up to buy a nice house in the city center.

Story so far seems pretty decent.

A really nice "oh that's just cool" moment was when enter (location spoilers, don't read if your a spoiler-fearing person)
the academy from the first game, in ruins.

Also, I just found my first
demon door!

More impressions later.

EDIT: Oh yeah! The first thing you should do is turn the yellow-trail down to low brightness or off altogether. It is a little bit jarring and at the moment and I can't help but think a mini-map would have been nice as an OPTION. I'm currently using the trail on low brightness because without it there is no way to work out how to get around without pressing start and going into the menu. I do like the trail in some instances, it allows for you to explore more. For instance in a cave, rather than going the intended direction when you hit a fork, you can choose to take the exploritory direction intentionally. It means less getting lost really.

At the moment I feel Lionhead should have given the option for both a minimap (hell, there's a map in the pause menu that looks like a minimap) and the trail, or let us change the yellow-trail's colour to a more see-through greyish colour.

Just to confirm...you can TURN OFF the trail? I heard you cannot do that, but that was a while ago....so, can you please verify or ensure that you CAN TURN IT OFF?

Thanks for the impressions.

You can absolutely turn it off. You can set it to OFF, LOW, MED, HIGH, or VERY HIGH.

I had it off for a while, but you really need it on.

Yea it's taking all my strength to avoid spoiling the game for myself, I'm tempted to go out and buy Dead Space to keep me distracted this weekend, but I kinda want to wait on that until I'm home on break cuz my 19-inch mono-sound college tv probably isn't the greatest for horror games.

trying to kill time playing pub games while i wait.

how the hell do you unlock all the amounts to play?

i have beat the tournament but it doesn't unlock anything? how do you unlock and what's the best way to win some cash, this 15 max bid sucks.

Man, the 21st is going to be freaking SWEET! I get Fable II, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, AND Little Big Planet -- ALL ROLLED UP IN ONE DAY.

Of course, the main problem is finding time to play them all. But, still! FREAKING SWEET!

Can't wait to play this. Every impression I hear gets me more and more excited! :D

You earn new games by leveling up your gambler rank or just buy playing that type of game.

Can anyone that is playing confirm if you have unlimeted items? That is what killed the first game since you can have unlimeted health potions.

Also...can you just run away from fights and run from point a to b? Another issue with Fable 1 was that you can run past enemies.

Thanks for all the stuff posted already.

I turned my "Online Orbs" in options to everyone. So I see people's avatars walking about where they would be. You can talk to them as well in proximity it seems.

AARRGG! Fable 2 had been the game that I was not going to get this year (Fallout3 and GoW2), the more I read the thread and see features like this, the more my wife is going to be pissed as I spend more money on another game :D

When is the embargo lifted and to expect the first reviews? I wasn't a huge fan of the original Fable seeing how the game had been hyped as the second coming.

I like the one where the guy can't take his dog with him to heaven so he chooses not to go. Or was that another show?
Anyways this chat stuff sounds so cool.

You had unlimited items in Fable 1? I can't remember. No, health potions and food cost money in Fable 2. And yeah, you can run past enemies if you want to. I mean, I guess. I haven't ever done that, but most of the time they're just standing in the pathway, so theoretically, yeah, you could ignore them and run.

There should be plenty of reviews around on the 20th.

what about the tournament's?

i been playing the hell out of those and don't have anything at all unlocked??

So everyone on your friends list who is playing is shown as an orb in-game? Can you turn the orbs off??

EDIT: Nvm, just read a few posts up. Durr.

Holy shit the game is massive. I'm having a blast just wandering around while my dog finds shit for me to dig up. Some very nice scenery too.

this thread title needs changing

adding in a describing title... all the PS threads seem to be the only ones with a describing title..

like "The Official Fable 2 Thread of Chicken Kicking" or something...

So I was thinking of waiting until this game came out on PC so that I could co-op with my mate. Then today I find out that it has split screen co-op.
Can you guys tell me if the experience is good or not in split screen? Is the framerate stable or does it get choppy?

I played for about an hour and it was fine - I didn't notice any framerate drops. It does get a little annoying, since it isn't "split screen," really. You have to stay within a certain distance of each other. But if you and your friend are willing to stick together and let one person lead, then it should be fine. I had fun when I was playing it with my friend earlier today.
