Official Fable II Thread

I picked up the game today, have played maybe 5 hours.

Thanks for the impressions. I am in such a tricky situation as regards what games to get right now. I was inches away from grabbing a 360 today and this game - but then I really want Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 next week. So whatever game I chose here is gonna push the other games onto the back burner for a month or so.

I cant make up my mind and its driving me crazy.

Shit...you had to ask....well...derailing the thread in 3...2....1......

Well technically its not derailing since that still has to do with Fable 2.

Still trying to decide orbs on everyone or just friends. Im playing with my headset on incase I run into someone I know...but with everyone on and headset, voices just kinda overlap.

Also is the dog supposed to be a boy or a girl?

Awesome, got my game from amazon today and opened up my LE copy to find no fucking code. Way to continue your awesome reputation gaining way Microsoft. They better make good on this shit quickly and the 28th isn't quick enough.

What property is worth buying in the 14k and under range, and how much money will it bring in?

I am about to do that fighting tournament thing. I have a 50DMG weapon, and was wondering if I could make back the 14k to buy a 70DMG weapon, if I invest in the right property

The first thing I did when I started up the game was turn the glowing trail off, and so far it seems like the only way to play if you like the exploration aspect of RPGs. The two times I did turn it on was because I couldn't find what I was looking for, and doing so made me feel like a complete dummy as the area/person I was looking for was right under my nose, so to speak.

People who are deeper (5-10+ hours) into this game, have you been keeping the trail off or on? And how does the map system work in this game? Can you find maps? I'm in the first dungeon right now exploring without trails or maps, and it isn't too hard, but finding maps here and there in the gameworld sure would be nice.

Y2Kev I dunno if this is your problem but you need to go click on the bed when the girl says she wants to have sex. Then it'll ask if you want to go protected or unprotected.
Says I can't used the bed right now. I think the bed is too small. I'm gonna buy a new house with my newfound cash (I have a desktop widget counting my monies as they grow) :lol

I keep it on. I also liked it in Dead Space. Basically, I use it when I want to go from point A to point B...and I just explore everywhere else. Just because it's telling me where I have to go doesn't mean I have to go there. :)

But the game desperately needs maps. I can't believe Molyneux's aversion to maps.

I keep it on, it helps me know which direction not to go in if I want to explore, and to get right back on again when I'm done.

I haven't experimented much with having it off however.

Oh wow. I was just propositioned by a fat cross-dressing male prostitute wearing ass-less chaps.

It's hilarious when you're flirting with some chick and a dude standing nearby falls in love with you. Awkward :lol

I'm loving this game so much. Way more than I thought I would be. I've made it back to Bowerstone, although I got sidetracked by blacksmithing. Mastering it is the first thing on my list when I get back to playing. Then investing in some real estate. Then maybe continuing with quests.

I really really love the orb system. I don't necessarily want to play Fable II co-op, but being able to chat with friends in the vicinity is amazing. I had dismissed it as a gimmick after reading previews, but seeing your friend right up the trail, and being able to say hi is freaking awesome.

I've turned the bread crumb trail down to the lowest level before being completely off. It's not very obtrusive, and I can completely ignore when I feel like exploring. And when I want to pick up the quest again, there it is.

Just picked this up today and have played for about 2 hours. I'm loving the hell out of it, I was caught off guard the first time I went to have sex and it gives the option between protected sex and unprotected. :lol

I know im going to want to try out co-op sooner or later, but then there is the dilemma of who will be the Hero and who the sidekick :lol. I guess its perfect for when you dont feel like putting your hero in any real danger and want to help a friend.

Guess I can live with the Hero+sidekick online co-op for now.

Gamertag is TeknomanEX if anyone thinks they'll want a sidekick in the future or vice versa.

By the way, since proximity chat is in game and basically everywhere, does that mean if I talk into my headset and there are only 2-3 orbs around (maybe deeper in the cave or dungeon than I am), do they only faintly hear my voice? As if I was actually far away?
:lol Thinking about going "Hellooooo in theeeeere!"

Ah, ok. I invested the 394k I had from the pub games glitch and I'm making 4400 every 5 minutes right now :D

Really enjoying this game. About a little over 2 hours in and this is much better than I thought it would be. It's a little rough around the edges with the controls and visuals but the art direction and feel of the world is so good that it's easy to overlook it. And the co-op is servicable. Not what it should be but it's still great fun to dungeon crawl with some friends. Not a fan of the first but this one more than fills in the fantasy void in my lineup.

So, I merged my character but only the funds got transfered. Where are my unlocked weapons and other stuff?

what? how? I'm just starting out.

When the UPS guy arrived with my Fable 2 LE i was ready to have a heart attack if i didnt see that Sticker on it. :lol

Encounterd some weird glitch where my character/Dog stopped appearing on my map. Other then that this game is so damn good! Also for those saying the Pub games merging does nothing. IT DOES! Transfering over money from the pub games gives you +10 towards corruption

Love the orbs. What a cool feature. Ran into two friends. One helped me find a treasure chest the other I gave some gold to(achievement!!!).
The first orb I ever saw was spudbud.:lol

Awwwwwwww man! Guess that's what I get for not saving all the time. My game just froze after I accepted a quest from the
ghost who wants me to seduce a woman who loved him and give her his hate letter
. Unfortunately the last time I saved was before I did ALL of the following...

Went to Bowerstone.

Met Becky the Stall Owner.

Made her fall in love with me.

Went and bought a ring.

Proposed to her.

Bought a house. (The same house from when I was a kid that I gave the love letter to the woman upstairs.)

Took her on a date to the cemetary. (She loves the cemetary)

Consummated the marriage.

All that gone! I got the achievements though, so there's proof it happened. But damn. My first marriage.

Guess I should look at this as a sort of do-over. Unfortunately Becky was the only good looker in the whole town. And the whole game that I've seen so far. Though she did talk too much. And said something really deep about life while we were talking to the stone head in the cemetery.

Oh wells. Live and learn. From now on I save after every big thing I do. (I thought it would at LEAST autosave after the wedding! WTF?

I'M A BACHELOR AGAIN! [Takes off pants]

For now...

Dammit! And another thing I had done. I bought a new outfit and a better club! Shoot. Now I gots to go get it again.

Edit: And I bought a new spell! Sheesh! What else did I do??

i can't get a single person to follow me anywhere, let alone a comand to get down and dirty and i am a good few hours in.

how am i suppossed to spread VD if i can't even get my pants down. lol:lol

Missing Codes Update:

Just talked to MS. The solution is to go onto xbox.com on October 28th and sign in with your gamertag. They will give you (I presume email) the codes after you follow the information there.

Better late than never I guess.

Probably been asked/answered a few times, sorry, but where do you get pub game money?

Also, I married and had a kid...then killed my wife because I found out you have to pay each day for "budget," haha, game is very very good!

I think everyone who got a wife early in the game ended up blowing her away. :lol

Pretty much just bought everything I could in the market part of Bowerstone. Since you make money even when you're not playing it adds up reeeeeally quick.

Did you jack up the prices? I'm shelling out a lot of cash and getting very little back for it.

ah, so that's how I get my items!

Ok, echoing the love for this game. It's just so... engrossing I guess is the word I'm looking for. Having the time of my life just wandering around Bowerstone, letting the dog dig up shit and finding gargoyles. The voice acting on them is beyond awesome, whomever is responsible for that idea at Lionhead, use the proceeds from my purchase of the game to have a pint, please.

Blacksmithing is WAY too addictive. I got up to level 3 right off, quit to buy some stuff (I now own all the shops on the Bowerstone Bridge, including the Meat Shop, Fish Shop, and a Pie Vendor, raking in 77 gold per 5 minute), but then went right back, and now I'm 10k away from maxing it out.

The orb thing is awesome. Seeing friends run by as you are out adventuring, or having their manic squirrel GamerTag icons staring at you while you are trying to blacksmith is beyond cool.

How the hell does it take 1 hour to walk 2 miles?

I mean how realistic is that? Especially since you can run. A mile should take 15 minutes tops!

Whats the general concensus on orbs GAF? Friends list only or everyone? Also when set to everyone, does the game take into account how many of your friends are online?

After I get my bearings, probably going to try co-op and be someone's henchman sometime tomorrow.

About an hour or so into the game. I thought the childhood part was a little whack but it's slowly picking up the pace.

The breadcrumb trail is a great idea, it allows me to run around and explore and know I'll never get lost.

I banged a gypsy in some dudes wagon like 20 minutes into the game :lol I hope she doesn't get pregnant (or that I get a STD). If a woman comes up to you with your child, can you deny that it's yours? I really don't want a marriage and kid with some chick who bangs on the first date.

Combat is fun and the leveling/xp system is intuitive. Can't wait to get more abilities, though I think I'm going to lean towards ranged attacks. It's satisfying ARPG combat, to say the least.

Hmm... here's a question regarging
the ghosts quest to seduce and ruin Alex's life..

Alex is cute. Even cuter than Becky....
can I marry her instead of give her this letter the ghost wants me to? I mean seriously.... just because he never loved her doesn't mean she has to never be loved. Will I miss out on some cool reward for ruining her life if I marry her instead?

I fell in love with and married the first gypsy girl I spoke to at the very beginning of the game. Ah, Sarah. We had a baby, but I spent too much time away adventuring and she became upset with me and threatened divorce. Luckily we were out in the middle of nowhere, so rather than be known as a man who can't keep his women happy, I chose the path of the widow.

Child protective services took my kid away.

No, go for it. I did the other and wished I'd married her.
