Official Fable II Thread

Great, I ran into a game-breaking glitch while still in the childhood phase, and I was going for my 5th gold coin no less. The girl tagging along ended up disappearing from the game world and the A button no longer worked, either to run or to chat to anyone, including the last guy I'm supposed to get a coin from. Now I gotta start over (resetting didn't help).

Oh well, at least it's the beginning. More than one save slot would have been nice, though.

Yay, I'm married to Alex, and I bought a house looking directly at her favorite spot.

Now to seal the deal...

Oh, no, I forgot about my Seal Deal.. I sell trained seals.. don't you ever listen to a word I'm saying?
;)

Fable 1 bored me, is this one that much better?

Yes. MUCH better. Best explained as Fable 1 mixed with oblivion but everything peter promised for fable 1 and more. Each area is like a huge wide open sandbox unlike the corridor small paths of Fable 1.

Wow this is very surprising to hear. Thanks. I just picked up LBp but I think this will be next.

Played through childhood and the first dungeon after that.

I hate these controls. The sloppy, terrible movement and sluggish camera are astoundingly bad. The character art is like garbage too. I also hate how sluggish the menu system feels.

Granted this is all in the first 1-2 hours of the game, and I hope it gets better, but it's not off to a good start.

Man this game is amazing. I haven't run into any game-breaking glitches, just a few very small hiccups here and there. The only thing that upsets me is how I can hear my friends' orbs but they can't hear me. :(

But nothing beats doing a Woodcutter job while your dog is sitting down next to you looking all cute and bold and having the sunset and sunrise in the background while you're chopping wood. Man I love this game.

Woohoo! Got the Limited Edition (wth the card inside). :)
Worked from 5PM till 2PM. (my dad did my the favor to pick the game while I was at work), so I return; took a shower, played from 3PM till 11PM.. :) (ate while playing)...

8 hours (more or less)..and basiclally I did nothing..I was planning to be good..but fuck it, I wanted to steal, kill people that pissed me off, and marry the first gay guy I met..so I did!..married the fist guy while having red veins and horns..and glowing green eyes..(must be the messy hair :p )

Then, been around towns and places looking for treasures, kiling people, breaking into houses, stealing stuff have 20k+ gold fine in the 3 towns I've visited, since I never pay the debts...and just proceed to kill the guards.

Have to work 5PM-2PM all this month., every day..:(..but still, amazingly great game, is Fable I but bigger at least to me, amnd I loved Fable I..so I couldn't be happier.

No glitches so far, everything smooth (playing on an Elite if that means something)..played some co-op with a friend, yeah..a little dissapointing that he couldn't be his own character, but we had a lot of fun...and the game it's quite pretty, I'd love an option to take pictures a la Viva Piñata 2.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM YOUR FAMILY: Alex wants sex. :lol

Fine, fine. Just wait until I finish this stupid golden acorn task.

Huh....maybe I'm missing something but this game is really bland to me.

The thing that truly ruins it is it's complete lack of difficulty. There is zero challenge in anything in the game no matter how you approach it. The combat was fun at first, but the enemies are so brain dead that it's just no fun (the magic spells in the game lack "oomph" too).

NPCs are completely at your whim which, of course, was fun at first but again, gets old quickly. Once you figure out that investing money in stuff is the way to go, it becomes very easy to make it. Since there's nothing in the shops worth a darn to buy, the money becomes pretty much worthless. Of course you can buy everything in the game, you need something useless to do with the money. Since there's no challenge, it's ultimately unsatisfying. Don't get me started on the jobs in the game though (sans Bounty Hunter/Archeology). Jebus...

Loading times when you fast travel (which you will do alot after you get tired of running everywhere) are surprisingly long. Sure, installing it will help, but it's not here yet so it doesn't matter. I do like exploring though when the feeling hits me though. I believe that aspect is nicely done. However, when exploring, everything starts to feel really empty to me since encounters with enemies/other people are few and far between. It's also not quite as "open" as it seems to be. Perhaps that's just me though.

I do enjoy the storyline still though. It's easily the best part of the game so far. That's the part I'm really enjoying so far. I will push though to the end and finish that off. Overall though, I guess this game just isn't for me. The complete lack of difficulty is just a killer. There's no satisfaction in anything I do in the game because it's just too easy and effortless. Kind of like the women in the game.

How do you sleep with someone without marrying them?
What's up with these needy women?

There are a ton of bugs and glitches though, its annoying. My game has locked up twice, and several times I've had to restart cause I brought up the Expressions menu and it wouldnt go away. Things on the screen just stay for some reason and won't go away till I restart.

Good thing it auto saves often.

Beautiful game though, amazing artstyle.

I'm loving this game so much. Way more than I thought I would be. I've made it back to Bowerstone, although I got sidetracked by blacksmithing. Mastering it is the first thing on my list when I get back to playing. Then investing in some real estate. Then maybe continuing with quests.

I really really love the orb system. I don't necessarily want to play Fable II co-op, but being able to chat with friends in the vicinity is amazing. I had dismissed it as a gimmick after reading previews, but seeing your friend right up the trail, and being able to say hi is freaking awesome.

I've turned the bread crumb trail down to the lowest level before being completely off. It's not very obtrusive, and I can completely ignore when I feel like exploring. And when I want to pick up the quest again, there it is.

Wow, this is exactly my progress and thoughts.

I cannot remember the last time I was so absorbed by a game and I am literally in the first town trying to lvl up my blacksmith so I can buy a tavern :D

So far I have the orb system on everyone and it really adds to the game (opinion subject to change more shitheads come online).

I did not like Fable 1 and am completely loving Fable 2.

Then play Dragon Quest VIII

I think I ran into some glitches so far, during the childhood phase I would always have someones name up at the top of the screen and the Y for more info prompt. This continued during the quest where you have to kill the beetles with ranged, on the Y Button, so I had to break the dudes crates up instead. Also now that I'm an adult, I can't collect any orbs, they just lay on the ground and eventually disappear, do you have to press a button or something to collect them?

Yes you have to hold R trigger to absorb orbs.

Yeah, took me a while to figure out you collect them with RT. Seems like a strange design decision, has Peter said anything about that?

The game repeatedly tells you to hold the right trigger to collect, over and over, incessantly, even after you've done it several times.

Havent gotten to play yet, but my wife played while I was working. She got stuck between a locked door and some guy and couldnt move. She eventually had to go back to her last save. Multiple saves is a must if a game is as buggy as the reports seems to make this one seem.

Getting married is not worth it. Every ten seconds

YO WIFE IS CALLING
YO WIFE IS CALLING
YO WIFE IS CALLING
YO WIFE IS CALLING
YO WIFE IS CALLING
SHE WANTS SEX
SHE GON DIVORCE YOU
YOU IN TROUBLE

fuck you

Do you need to get married to have sex? I don't want to use my dirt condom on the woman I marry. Plus there are some ugly chicks who follow me around good for a night when I get drunk at the pub, but whole 'till death' thing? yeah, maybe for her.

nope there are prostitutes

She wants sex. But why won't she have it with me?? Huh?? What is the trick? People have asked this. I have done everything, flirted and danced and whistled and given her gifts. But she won't do it now. WTF??

The first thing I did when I started up the game was turn the glowing trail off, and so far it seems like the only way to play if you like the exploration aspect of RPGs. The two times I did turn it on was because I couldn't find what I was looking for, and doing so made me feel like a complete dummy as the area/person I was looking for was right under my nose, so to speak.

People who are deeper (5-10+ hours) into this game, have you been keeping the trail off or on? And how does the map system work in this game? Can you find maps? I'm in the first dungeon right now exploring without trails or maps, and it isn't too hard, but finding maps here and there in the gameworld sure would be nice.
i'm done with the main story, further on it doesn't hold your hand as much so I kept it on.

Have you met a woman in real life, sounds about right to me they send out mixed signals and normally what they say and what they want and do are opposites.:lol

Go to the Bowerstone bookstore and buy the book that teaches you the "Come back to my place" expression. Better yet, just buy all the expression books.

I was running through Bowerstone when a random ass npc told me that she wanted to go somewhere more private. I agreed and went into a random house and had sex, HOWEVER, the owner of the house walked in on us and called the guards on me :lol I had to pay a 50 gold fine, chump change. I hope my two wives don't hear about that.

Btw, to reduce the spam from the game turn off the tips! It just repeats shit over and over after a while.

Just started, love the game so far other than camera in the first real exploration area as its kinda tight in there (what I wouldn't give for a first person view 24/7)

Just started the game and I am enjoying it so far. I wish you could customize your characters physical appearance a bit though.

Fable 2 doesn't look or play like any game on the current systems.

In what way is it "bland"?

Pretty sure I explained it. It's not bland in it's style (for the most part), but it's bland to me because it's lacking in the areas I pointed out.

Then play Dragon Quest VIII

...wow.

I just want to say that I'm wowed by what I've played so far. The first Fable was not a bad game in its own right, but this new installment truly delivers.
