Official Fable II Thread

If anyone is interested in sales age stuff....

I track a ton of game related stuff using gamercard extrapolations (primarily for XBLA games), but dive into boxed titles once in awhile to validate VGC or NPD data. It's pretty accurate stuff if you know what your looking at, and can make apt comparisons.

At any rate, Fable 2 is doing insane to the nth degree, and is tearing up most openings/models I've observed of gamercard usage.

What that means is that there are only 2 games that have ever shot up mygamercard.net or 360voice.com so quickly: Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV.

Outside of those 2 titles, no game has sold so quickly - Although COD4 has certainly built up over time to do strongly.

Having said all of that, Fable 2 should easily clear 1 million units in October for NPD data. I wouldn't be surprised if it was higher (1.2-1.5m).

Anyone know an easy/fast way to get money? The blacksmith/wood cutting games are kinda boring and don't give much at all. I've got only ~2,000 gold and want to buy some weapons and a house or two.

No, it works out fine. The son will come out to his father formally and everything ends up fine.

BTW, where are all the gargoyles?

I married this ugly girl just to test it...now the broad won't divorce me :lol I cut off her pay so hopefully it happens soon. I want mah house back to rent out, bitch!

Hmm...haven't gotten this yet, sometime this weekend, probably, but after watching that youtube review, I noticed that your mentor's name is
Theresa.....

Anyone far enough to know if she's related at all to the hero's sister in the original Fable?

Theres one in Bowerstone at the front gate (on top), one near some snow covered ruins on the way to Oakfield, and one on a bridge in Oakfield. thats all I know of so far.

we're starting to play it a little fast and loose with the spoiler tags now eh? :(

I really wish I could get these people out of my fucking house and play the damn game.

I had the greatest party going in the town square. Playing the Lute for about a dozen and a half people, men, women, children, all watching me play like a real crowd. But the picture came out bad. Plus I messed up the playing and made them all laugh instead. So I kept going, did more tricks, got a sock puppet play going. It was awesome. Having like half the town all watching me perform for them.

I'll get a better picture next time.

All I've been thinking about at work today is getting back into Fable 2, but I know my girlfriend will want to spend time with me as soon as I get home. My plan is to have sex with her right away so hopefully she'll leave me alone enough to fire up the 360 and get back to my fake girlfriend. :lol

I pre ordered it, but house guests and work hav prevented me from playing.
:(

I've decided to make a gunslinger with a curly mustache who is good but corrupt.

My wife has been playing a little bit while I'm at work and they are out. She is playing as pure evil.

Also,
fuck this!
Up until now I've only had people I know in real life on my friends list.
I currently have 2 :lol
I think I'm gonna add GAFFers from the online thread so that I can enjoy the orbs.

Yeah, they appear to be one in the same. She's blind like the one from the first game, and also recalls her history in Oakvale at one point.

the best part about this game isn't the game itself. it's coming in here and reading this thread and what people are doing.

Tired and I wasn't paying too much attention to what the game said...just lost the whole wellspring cave part due to 'Reloading.' :( Bummer, but at least it is pretty straightforward...the headless hollow was tough but oh well.

Btw, can you bone chicks out of wedlock or is still limited to that in this one too?

Thats a good idea actually. I don't have many friends on my list either.

The drawback is my outfit makes my ponytail unseen. :(

Heh, the blue glyphs kinda remind me of Baldur from Too Human. Also thanks to your advice I should have some better pictures on the way.

I tried using some of the "specialty" modes to capture a photo but they don't seem to like LCD's. This one and the previous one were taken with just the normal mode with flash off.

I think the rent money I get from all my properties is slowly decreasing. What can I do to increase it, besides buying more properties?

:lol How long did you expect people to pay those prices? You're probably losing customers and need to lower the prices to make more in the long run. If the game is that smart, which I hope it is.

how do you change your dogs name? And some of the pics peoples dogs have light brown fur and my dogs fur is really dark. Can you dye the dogs hair?

Mess with it's/buy it a collar. Dont think you can dye your dog though.

Fuck I think this may be the game to get me to buy a 360 but I really can't afford it. Wish I could sell my Wii since no games are coming out for it(Wii Music does not appeal to me) however my siblings will kills me and they still play the Wii all the time so.

Btw how is the lenght of this game?

No I think how much you charge in rent only has an effect on your character (good-evil or pure-corrupt spectrums). And I'm already playing as evil/corrupt so I don't care, which is why I jack up the rent 100%. So I don't think the tenants at my various properties can just leave...

Well there are games out for it/coming out for it, but thats another topic altogether.

The length of the game depends on how you play it. Take your time, do side stuff, explore areas, etc....I guess about 30+ hrs? You probably have slice through the main story in half that time.

Oh. I think that would be really lame if the only repercussion to jacking up prices 100% is to your alignment and not actually losing customers. Of course, there are not real repercussions to dying either, so I guess its possible. Still, kinda lame.

Alot longer than Fable's 10 hour with doing everything? I bought the original Xbox for Fable so I was heartbroken. And back then I did not have as much as I did now so it was a lot harder to buy. I don't want to feel like that again:(

Well I played abit of the first Fable and it really didnt grab me at all. Fable 2 though seems like everything the first game should've been and alot more.

From what others who beat Fable and did everything there was to do say, Fable 2 is a good deal longer.

I put almost 15 hours into the game and havnt really touched the main quest, plus you make differnt choices in some missions that change things in the world, so im already gonna play through it again when im finished with my first play through. Its one of those rare games that when your not playing it you think about it, and wish you were playing it. In my opinion this game deserves no lower than a 9 from any site, theres really no other game like it.

This game is fucking fantastic. I haven't done many main quests because I've been amusing myself with side-quests, serving booze in a pub (and making ludicrous amounts of money considering the early point of the game I'm at) and buying a bunch of properties around Oakfield.

The dialogue repeating gets annoying, though. When you're doing a job, or buying stuff, or doing anything in a menu where NPCs can talk, you hear the same shit over and over again.

I killed a prostitute for being fat and now everyone's holding it against me. "HE KILLED AN INNOCENT CITIZEN"! God damn whore lovers.

Another thing that annoys me is that, if you're out killing bandits or beetles or something while a guard or traveller is around, they'll like you LESS for saving their ass because all the game sees is that you're firing / swinging a weapon near a civilian.

I do enjoy randomly using magic in towns to scare people.

I kind of want more coloured dyes, or different shades of the dyes. The only ones I'm using at the moment are the Black, white and green ones.

Fable II's one of the best RPGs I've played in the past few years.

Well that settles it. When I get a 360 next year, this will be the first game I buy for it.:D

Tons of different dye shades, so you're in luck there. So far i've got 23 different shades.

If losing XP and being scarred for life are not repercussions, what is?

Also, I could be wrong about the rent thing. I was buying some potions from a shop I own and the guy complained about how the high rent was going to put him out of business. :lol
And my total rent money is now down from 10k+ to just over 9k...

I love the posts saying if you arent playing it, youre thinking about it. Thats how it was for me and Mass Effect. ARGGH all these kick ass impressions are making my decision between this and Dead Space extremely difficult. I can't decide. Fuck it ill probably just get both.

I'm hoping that once I get into the game, more clothing / hair options will show up. I love the customisation, but I find that I'm only really switching between two or three looks depending on my mood.

I'll grab a picture sometime later of my guy.

Interestingly, I'm an Evilish / Pure character. I assume it's because I kill people who annoy me such as
The slave owner who shows up after you kill Thag
, or because I'm generally an asshole in sidequests.

This is one of the first games with moral choices where I'm not always picking the good side, because the game doesn't make you feel like a dick for doing so. I decided to
give the arrest warrents to the crook
, and the game actually agreed with my choice instead of trying to question it.

I think that's one of the more subtle geniuses this game presents. That, and the lack of clothing armour stats.

I got married and had a child with this one Housewife and later on, I wooed the Jeweller from Bowerstone Market. Stupid me had to move the 2nd wife two houses down from my 1st wife's house. The 1st one divorced me, but I was able to get the Jeweller to love me again. :lol

Bartending is super easy.

So I have Online Orbs set to "Everyone" yet I have only ever seen a few orbs and they're all people from my friends list. Is the "Everyone" option actually working for others?

Works for me. The orb system seems to be kinda glitchy atm though. Sometimes you cant get friend orbs to hear you.

Sometimes it takes a reset for things to sync up. Either that or head to the center of a town, most of the people seem to just hang around there.

easiest i've found is buying property. then you just sit around and let the money come in every 5 minutes. you even collect up to like an hours worth with your console shut off. so you can wake up in the morning. load, wait 5 seconds until it registers, save & quit, and then when you get home you get another set of payments.

Okay, I restarted my game and I can see other orbs now.

Edit: wow, there are orbs everywhere as I'm trying to fight the guards at Brightwood Tower.
I don't know if I like this, I think I'll change it back to friends only.

Ok quick question:

In the old graveyard there is a statue making a weird expression. The game says to make it change by using an expression. I did the "hump" thing and its mask fell off and it slumped over. Is that it?

Eh, if you really want to bork it you could always just buy a couple cheap stalls, up the prices by 100% go the dash, console settings, clock settings, date and time, turn the clock forward by a month, take what you made buy a better shop/repeat till you own enough good property to get a massive return. No more having to grind through the boring jobs.

I overheard while blacksmithing that if you put on a mask, commit crimes, and then take it off in an unpopulated area no one knows that you committed the crime. I wonder if this is true.
